Seems like Cruz is conceding Beto an hour long commercial on cnn.  I imagine it will bring into a fair amount of more money for Beto which will translate to some more money for Beto's lessors in the Democrat party if he doles it out to them as people are reporting.

Nothing wrong with that if you are cool with it.

Agreed. As a Cruz supporter, I think this is a mistake. Then again, maybe he’s privy to internal polling that has deemed the townhall an unnecessary risk.

Doh.

I applied to Pitzer and got accepted, but that's really nothing to brag about.  It's kind of the goofy kid brother of the other schools.

I went to Claremont for the first time about four years ago when my youngest was playing DIII soccer and they did a Cali tour.  I was really impressed with the layout of the school and the town.   Great walking campus, and particularly liked the little Back Abbey Pub, if memory serves.

I'd thought it would be more Ontario/San Bernardino-ish but it was really nice.

i have to think that cruz is making a mistake by giving beto the stage to himself tonight.

but then again, he may be doing himself a favor by not taking the stage tonight.

if i was a cruz strategist, i think i tell him to go there, don't attack beto, throw red meat out, and take up some time.

30 minutes (or 24, assuming commercials or whatever) for beto is better than 60 (or 48) for a comfortable beto who doesn't have to share the stage. that's his game; that's where he is most comfortable.

Cruz has this won (sad).  The last thing he needs is to stand next to a fantastic human being and get judged.   Fucking Texas is still a LONG ways off.  This is the perfect candidate with a monster bankroll vs a complete and utter putz.  And here we are.

Perfect candidate would be Beto who likes to hunt who served in the military.

I liked his answer to the impeachment question.  My wife wanted him to skirt it.  Fuck that.  He's not convincing any republicans anyway.  Be honest.  Stand up for your beliefs.

My opinikn: best answer on impeachment is starting by clearly delineating the roles of the house and Senate on impeachment and say "yes, I would vote yes for impeach, but as a senator that would not be my role. There's a difference between indictment and conviction. There's enough there, imo, for impeachment, it remains to be seen if there is enough for conviction."

Talked to my older uncle yesterday who is a well educated and a retired U.S. Marshall Chief that lives in San Antonio.  We never talk politics but I asked him if he was going to vote for Beto.

He didn’t say no but he gave me the anti-Beto talking points of his shenanigans in El Paso.  He also told me he’s a tea party Republican.  I told him those tea party candidates don’t believe in their own bullshit and Ted Cruz never gave a damn about Texas.  He just wanted to be president.  Uncle said I was probably right.  I also said Beto has the better ideas and my uncle agreed his message of bringing people together is better.

Then we talked a little about the Robert Mueller investigation.

I mean how he presents/talks.  Not his background.  There's always more I'd add to someone's background.  I just like this guy.  I'm actually turning this shit off because knowing he's not going to win is incredibly frustrating.

Why do you think he’s not going to win?

I just wish he would talk a little slower. He just wears me out.

He comes across as being in a rush. I keep waiting for him to say, "I really need to go, I have a flight to catch and I am already running late."

His biggest mistake was doing debates. As soon as that happens he has no chance. The 2016 Democratic playbook is a loser and they seem to learn nothing from it.

Empty suit with no plan for the economy, no plan for health care (except for the middle class to take on more burden), embracing illegal immigration and ignores the middle class completely

All identity politics

democrats: too good for middle America

should be a campaign slogan.

I can't wait to vote for him.

Eh, I feel like he wants to fit a lot of answer into a limited space.

There's a your mom joke here, but I don't feel like going starkly vulgar just now.

I like that he uses the term junior senator. It's a fact so not derogatory, and yet it is.

Per my uncle, voting for Cruz keeps him in those senior committee appointments and gives him more power...So Beto throwing the “Junior Senator” label around is probably strategic to deflate the Senate seniority talking point.

I'm sure that's the case. He needs to chill a little, he has the platform to himself.

He has a D after his name in Texas.  Sadly it begins and ends there.  Any other questions?

I know you’re probably not wrong but I keep looking at Trump beating Hillary by only 9 points in Texas and she was “the worst candidate” ever.

that’s only 800k vote separation.

Plus Gary Johnson and Jill Stein accounted for 4% together (350k votes).

The polls leading up to that election were all over the place from Trump being up by 3 to 14 in October.

I’m just saying Beto is no Hillary and Cruz is no Trump when it comes to campaigning.

An upset would not surprise me.
