Didn't you get the memo? All veterans, no matter what capacity they served in, no matter which branch -- even mail clerks in the Coast Guard Reserve -- are entitled to blow jobs on demand from all Americans who never enlisted. It's in the Constitution.

Rocko approves this message.

How Neanderthals watch that commercial:
1. Cruz is for guys that got their legs blown off in the military.
2. Military guys that got their legs blown off are for cruz.
3. I support guys like them and I stand for the national anthem, so I must be for Cruz too.
Mix in a few “Beto wants illegals to rape your grandma” commercials and it’s a done deal.

Lol, that’s too many thought steps for this group. It’s “Beto loves that *n-word* Kaepernick. Yay murica! Yay crooz!”

(i genuinely wonder because I suspect Ted Cruz is a pussy, that's not a "someone should shoot Ted Cruz" thing)

He's a sitting u.s. senator, i would fucking hope guns aren't allowed

Beto is a sitting US Representative, and he wasn’t scared of gun owners who were carrying...

We're all in.  We've got a campaign worker staying at our house this week while she attends training sessions.  We're hosting a pop-up office at our home during most of October.  M12 is taking the week of the election off to work full time on the campaign. I'm volunteering to drive people to the polls. We've maxed out our contributions to the campaign.
We can fucking do this.

Who are you volunteering with to drive people to the polls? I heard the Beto campaign won’t be doing that.

Just gave $300 more to Beto, puts my wife and I at $450 total. We're going to a host a phone bank in Northern Virginia and try to phonebank and as much as possible up to the election. Wish I could head down to Texas but can't make it work.

Is there something to do at those things that doesn't involve actually talking to people on phones?  I'm in NoVa as well, and keep getting texts and emails about the phone banks, but cold-calling people just ain't me.

Don't know. Just getting involved. I think you could text maybe? I'll let you know how it goes.

Maybe if citizens were allowed to carry at rallies our reps wouldn't be such jackasses.

You could text, but starting around 10/7 the people the phone banks will be calling will be those who are already committed to voting for Beto, or are leaning that way.   The calls will be specifically for getting out the vote, and not trying to persuade anyone to flip or vote for Beto.  Purely a call to get out the vote.  These call lists were built during the initial phone banks, trying to identify said potential/actual support.  The call is structured to help people lay out a plan on when, how and where they are going to vote.  Thought is that once the plan is in their mind they are more likely to follow through.

So you will be giving information on early voting places in their county, or to remember to bring ID to polling station, ride sources, etc.  More informational than persuasional.

They are trying to reach out to over 5.5 million people individually by block walks or phones.   They also need managers for popup  offices, people who would handle the administration end, like scheduling of trainings of phone banks, block walks, and greeting new volunteers.

I am sure M12BH can answer more about that.

This needs to be asked in both of the remaining debates.

Lyin’ Ted ain’t above lying.  In his heart he would believe that he will serve his entire term unless he’s called by a higher power to take on an even more important role.

And he would only be lying if he actually won the presidency in 2020.    Then he doesn’t have to worry about his senate re-election in 2024.  See how it all works out?

Author does a great job of showing how similar trump and Cruz are even though some Texans hold him up as some intellectual heavyweight. Being brilliant doesn’t help when you are always appealing to the lowest common denominator.

Report from the bright red hinterlands a/k/a Midland, Texas

1) Saw 2 new Beto signs on the way to work this morning.

2) On my morning run through the heart of Old Midland money neighborhood, saw 2 Cruz signs, a metric fuckton of local City Council race signs and a lot of Mike Conaway for Congress signs. Not surprising - this neighborhood will vote overwhelmingly for Cruz but the vast majority don't want to be viewed as actually liking the guy. From my very unscientific survey of a very unscientific subset of Midland neighborhoods, I'd say the Beto signs outnumber Cruz 2-1 which is surprising to me. Obviously that's not how Midland will ultimately vote, but it does say something about enthusiasm for the candidates.

3) Yesterday's performance by the Republicans has cemented my formerly apolitical wife's move to the left. I quote from a text "I will never ever ever ever vote Republican again!" She announced this morning that she can't wait to vote on the first day of early voting. This is a woman who has voted once in the last two decades.

4) My conservative friends' take - Beto has a great personality, I can see why people like him, but he's a socialist from El Paso, so no.

i can blame ted cruz for bemoaning the lack of respect and civility in our society as he runs a campaign focused on hate and fear

Yep.  His diatribe yesterday about the Kavanaugh situation being a smear campaign made me want to puke, given the way he has run his campaign against Beto.
