So Clinton over Trump was the fist time since 1964 that the Dallas Morning News did not endorse a republican for president. Definitely not a liberal rag. And along with the Chron's seems ssignificant. Hope the olds who still read newspaper pay attention.

Um, the Chronicle endorsed Ted in 2012 but is now a "far left liberal rag" according to Ted.  The same Houston Chronicle who endorsed Abbott this year.

That's not exactly what he said.  He said "for my students for voting." Sure, he pushed Beto in the next sentence but he didn't say "for my students for voting BUT ONLY FOR BETO AND NOT CREEPY CANADIAN TED"

Awesome fucking reading comprehension, Ken.

Also, this is on the honor system so it's a bad system but ANYTHING that gets people out to vote is good for me.  I can show up, cast a vote for everyone but Senator, and get my little sticker and show it to get my extra credit?

What's their endorsement history? Do they endorse many republicans?

Getting all the major newspaper endorsements has to be good for a slight bump.
Long conservative history and still endorsing plenty of Rs this cycle but didn't matter. Fake. News. Liberal. Media. Red. Wave.

J. Sack must be dealing with a hell of a hangover this morning.. expect him to resurface on this thread sometime this afternoon.

He quit posting after he took an Uber to a gay bar in montrose.

Tonight he’s pulling out 10 large to pay to watch rats fuck live. I have no idea where that is though. Maybe he’ll let us know.

That's not fair.  Heidi may not be a great match for the "chicks over 40" thread, but she's hardly a rat.

I hear if you add another 0 to that donation, Ted will fuck the rat himself.

Just for the record, I'm not alone in my read of our perilous situation:

In looking at the race for United States Senate in Texas, we recognize that this country stands on a precipice.  Whether we fall off the edge depends on how we answer this question: Can we set policy differences aside, even for a moment, and agree to treat each other with the respect befitting a great nation, with acknowledgment of the humanity of each person?

....

By contrast, through his actions in Washington and his rhetoric from Iowa to New Hampshire and beyond, incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz has distinguished himself as a cutting figure in today’s politics.  Lincoln, echoing the Gospel of Mark, cautioned us long ago that a house divided against itself cannot stand. And we believe that at this moment, we cannot afford such an approach.

A precipice.  You know, like, "a ledge."  By the way, y'all know which way I'm betting we'll choose.  But hey, I sure would love to be wrong.

And for everyone who speaks strictly in terms of stated policy positions, whether it's about this race, Trump, etc., you don't know SHIT about management or leadership.  Your new CEO may have great ideas about streamlining production, getting product on the shelves, etc.  But if he alienates your customer base and runs off all of your best employees, he's a miserable failure, no matter how pretty his "five point plan" looks.  The DMN knows that:

Quote

The pivotal issue before our country is public leadership, and here we believe O’Rourke’s tone aligns with what is required now. This inclusive and hopeful tone, along with O’Rourke’s approach of starting with shared principles and working toward solutions, offset any policy differences we have with him. Leadership is more than policy, and whether we are addressing the very real challenges before us now turns on our ability to find points of agreement.

Are we a country that embraces pieces of shit, or rejects them?  That's really as simple as the choices before us get.  Yet, we will manage to make the wrong choice, over and over and over.  Because we're intent on being a shitty country.

We've got a bombastic buffoon for a president and a somewhat animated populace.  We've survived much worse.  There are people in every generation who believe they are at some pivotal moment in history.  This is a form of narcissism.  We've had presidents assassinated, presidents resign, presidents who killed people in duels, brawls in congress, hundreds of thousands killed in a civil war.  Now we've got president who posts buffoonish insensitive tweets and lacks decorum.  We are clearly at the focal point of our entire history.  How will we ever survive?

Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say Ni at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land, nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress in this period in history.

Depending on which much worse you're talking about, hundreds of thousands most certainly did not survive.

If you give a fuck about the people on the margins, your question isn't a sarcastic one at all.

But, you know, fuck them, you've got yours.

I know you love reveling in what you see as a sprint towards the apocalypse, but "we" threw 3M (or maybe more?) excess votes to Hillary Clinton, a woman who was hardly the gold standard of Presidential politicians, and "we" elected Barack Obama . . . twice.

And "we" are in the process of making sure that our system never allows that to happen again.  And tens of millions of your fellow Americans support those efforts 100%.

Got a minority-sounding name? Better check to see if your voter registration was shredded.

Having 10% of our population be anti-American slimeballs?  Sure, anyone can survive that.  Having 45% of them be anti-American slimeballs?  We're toast.

And you have not the slightest fucking idea what percentage of Americans are slimeballs.  You just don't.  And if this all disintegrates into the civil war you (and I) have predicted is possible, you don't even know how much of the military would fall in line.  You.  Just.  Don't.

I very much wish you would stop polluting this shitstain of a board (and that takes some effort) with your hyperrepetitive sermons about how none of the rest of us get it.  It's super fucking old.

Times are so tough that the lawyers must take breaks from their lives of security, prosperity, and health to fight the forces of darkness with self righteous condescension from their offices via the internet.  They will read about these sacrifices and displays of boldness & courage in history books.

My family and I have done plenty more than that.

While you've engaged in breathless orange cocksuckery.  I'm good with what the history books will say about me.  And I'm definitely good with what they'll say about you.

Oh, and Jimmy -- I'm just looking at the Trump approval ratings.  538 currently has him at 42.8%.  So, yeah, I rounded up 2.2%.  42.8% see and hear what Trump does, and APPROVES OF IT.  Come on, man.  You know that's a fucking stain on this country that doesn't wash out.

they'll be too busy reading about how a bunch of stupid fucking crybabies wrecked the country for a decade by putting an antiamerican conman into the white house because of a black president and their hurt feelings

Can anyone down in the Valley speak to what GOTV efforts or rallies are occurring? Or what isn't occurring.   As normal, the early voting is poor down there, even though I see that Brownsville is trending over 2016.

I was curious if Cruz or Beto are showing up in any cities/towns or having a proxy campaign for them.

Wow I have to get off the sidelines and applaud this post. Brisket has been so full of himself and thinking he has everything figured out. Reminds me of Detective Somerset (Morgan Freeman) from Se7en keep trying to convince Det. Mills that all people want to do is eat cheeseburgers and play the lotto and how apathy rules the world.

Cruz is coming to the border areas next week. That’s what his campaign website said.

I wonder if that means he will actually meet with citizens or just pose with the ICE officers on the border itself.   I can't imagine that citizens near the border only care about immigration.   They might appreciate having a candidate listen to other problems they encounter.

No they are GOTV events where you get to meet him. You can request tickets and attend. Assume it’s a rally

Of course you have. You are truly a righteous man. It’s easy to identify a righteous man because he will gladly tell you how righteous he is and about all the righteous things he has done.  Sometimes a righteous man will imply that another is not as morally pure as they are and they will falsely accuse others of these deficiencies based on no evidence whatsoever.  But this is their right as morally pure men.  And sometimes they will battle the very thing they claim to hate, such as bombastic buffoonery, by becoming the thing they hate.  We should also not hold this against righteous men becasue they are above scrutiny by nature of being inherently moral based upon their own claims. They are merely employing a fight fire with fire tactic to preserve all that is decent.

80,000 votes cost Hillary the election.

80,000 votes.

She took the popular vote by a 48.2% to 46.1% margin.  So, with a 2.1% tailwind, she lost the election by 0.1% of the vote.  Call it a 2.2% barrier the Democrats need to climb.

Current 538 numbers show Trump's approval rating is 8% below his disapproval rating among registered or likely voters.

You do the math.

Now, I'm not saying there isn't manipulation going on, and I'm not saying that he can't beat that 8% margin, especially with a 2.2% head start, but I am saying that the majority of adults in this country who are CURRENTLY registered to vote think he's a piece of shit, and that matters.  Start bringing in the younger soon-to-be-voters?  That number will surely climb.

However it plays out, more people are against the Shitstain In Chief than are for him.  THAT.  MATTERS (your breathless end-of-the-Republic rants notwithstanding).
