This is a legitimately strange ad

#TXPol: "I'm Texas Senator Angela Paxton. People have asked my thoughts about this election and turns out, I have some ... I'm voting for the Republican ticket on November 3rd."

Texas PAC is up with a new ad featuring Angela Paxton, Ken Paxton's estranged wife.

Dem operatives and PACs should be all over this with response ads.

Part of me wants them to release "look at these cucks" ads but should presumably instead tie that ad to wanting to keep her 7.5 corruption houses.

I’m digging the professional and tasteful cleavage there.

Her message is almost as garbage as her estranged husband’s moral compass.

I guarantee there was a negotiation regarding this ad. Some PAC paid her to do this. Amongst the oddness, why won’t she mention Ken’s name. Perhaps that required a dollar amount the PACs held firm. Or maybe she had her line in what she wouldnt do.

Somehow I doubt many voters see this and decide to vote for Ken. It could also had the opposite effect by putting a face to the Ken’s cheating.

It’s stunningly stupid. Like the most idiotic thing they could do. Like this has to be a PAC that supports Talarico.

Because if you search for Angela Paxton on the interwebs, you see most mentions of her say something like “Ken Paxton’s estranged wife” and a lot of people are going to be like “WTF” and go down the rabbit hole of why she’s estranged. And the chatter online in a lot of articles mentions that she won’t say his name, or they bring up the nasty divorce.

And that is not something you want a lot of married women seeing when Trump is already fucking things up economically, because plenty of women have been cheated on, and many will look down upon her or Kenny Wayne.

Farmers have learned that when they stick their hand out, the govt gives them money. So they can maintain their stance that they are against socialism, consequence free.

As machinery got better and more expensive, a lot of small farmers opted out of actually farming and found jobs elsewhere, renting or selling their acreage to their neighbors. In this way American agriculture followed a horizontal growth model. And now we have corporations buying those out, or contracting with them. That way they control the market all the way up and down. In east Texas, a lot of landowners lease out parts of their acreage to poultry corporations. They have little to do with the operation, other than learn to live with the stench that emanates from the big houses. Sanderson farms, Pilgrim, etc. That and an oil/gas well here and there keep a lot of these dumbfucks pretty cocky. No pun intended. Clayton Tucker is on the warpath about two things: data centers and ag monopolies. For good reason.

So these little guys who are now feeling the squeeze, and seeing how much of Trump's last ag bailout went to Smithson Farms, or other huge corporations, they are starting to wake up. But out here in rural Texas you usually work in a bank or feedstore or school, whatever and those people who have the money, those dumbfucks I mentioned earlier bully everyone else to keep voting Red, because they know their bread is buttered on that side. They have no problem supporting the corporations in whatever they do, as long as they get paid for it. That's become the American dream now...though no one says it outloud.

11 hours ago, Nice Guy Eddie said:

I’m in my 50s and still waiting to hear of one year that farmers can stand on their own without govt help. And it’s not only about income handouts, they also want exclusions to estate taxes because they’re so important to the national economy. But are they?

Farm subsidies, floor prices, base acreage (formerly allotments) and other things were rolled into a set what now is a set of programs like Price Loss Coverage and Agriculture Risk Coverage. All this was done starting with the New Deal for basically two things: 1) to preserve American arable land that was literally being lost like dust in the wind. For farmers to get the full benefits of the price safety nets, they had to start using more soil conservation practices, and 2) It was an attempt to insure the US had a base production of goods year in and year out. If corn sold well in 1925, then everyone planted corn in 26. Then there not only was a glut in 26 and prices plummeted, but the price of wheat, oats, and other starches went up, price of feed followed, and on and on. That is why we have subsidies for rice and honey, as well as corn and cotton.

So there were good reasons for these programs and they kept down consumer prices too, much like the price of O/G is supposedly lower because of gov't subsidies to Oil and Gas corps. If we didn't maintain our own ag production capabilites we would be at the mercy of the rest of the world. Pretty much like we are for beef now. It does get pretty complicated, but it started out as good intentions and still is. But like with everything else, the big money people came snooping around trying to figure out how to enrich themselves further. They started in healtcare in the 70s and 80s, insurance and energy well before that, banking, and the list goes on and on. Again monopolies that need busting, but Trump is doing just the opposite.

Oh yeah and the estate taxes, well I am with you on that one. Everyone should earn their own way, not inherit it. At least not to that extent. But again, look at the 1% of the 1% for who is leading that charge. I would approach it like the homestead exemption here. With limits.

Let's not be naive. I've seen a ton of absurd comments (could they all be bots?) to the effect of "I was on the fence about voting for Paxton but if Angela Paxton can get over it, why should't I?"

I mean putting aside the extremely obvious self-interest in their ill-gotten community property... his personal failings are one thing but corrupt abuse of office/taxpayer dollars should be 1000 times more relevant. But old/dumb/really eager to find any justification is what rules the day in this state.

I'd imagine she is trying to preserve her seat more than anything. You have to know the right has enough crap on her to primary her.

Plus the self preservation. Though I am pretty sure if KP loses, there won't be any blanket pardon for either of them coming from Trump or Abbott.

Most people are not going to see this ad, and as I said, it was extremely stupid, because a simple Google search for her starts turning up stories that Paxton doesn't want seen, right on the first page.

I honestly don't know why they did it - Streisand Effect and all. It's 2026 and while plenty of MAGA women are of the "stand by your man even if he's defending pedophiles, grifting, committing fraud, etc." variety, plenty of women in general fucking loathe the kind of shit he's done (cheating repeatedly on her, with people close to her).

I agree that she is a very calculating person, and is out to preserve her seat, but she seems like somebody that the right wouldn't want to try and primary, since she could go scorched earth herself. Paxton had support, even if it wasn't patently obvious (and not just Dan Patrick) and she's going to have the receipts.

But, Gods willing, Kenny Wayne loses to Talarico and then he and she are both out of power. Even if she wins re-election, take her name away and a lot of folks will have no idea who she is.

And yeah, Trump ain't going to bail either of them out. He's already told MAGA the reasons that Ken can/will lose, and it has nothing to do with him.

He’s the second best candidate we’ve had in a long long time as well. His 254 county tour was too gimmicky and his comms / ads / talking points / and event schedule was notably a notch down from what talarico has done. I’m seriously impressed with talarico’s team. Some of it is having a seriously flawed opponent no doubt but not all of it.
