yeah basically the only two teams that I think are a lock to make the playoffs in the East at this point are Tampa and Carolina, and the only one that's a lock to miss is the Rangers.

The league is so unbalanced this year. The top 3 in the Central are legit but it feels like everyone else in the West is either underachieving big time, middling at best at best, or outright shit tier.

Outdoor games anywhere outside of Mass, New York, Minnesota, Michigan, etc. always fucking suck. We get the need to grow the game in southern markets but they always just fucking disappoint with over the top bullshit. This shit would be way better if the Bruins played the Canadians in Quebec City or in Maine or somewhere cool.

The one in Raleigh wasn't too bad (mind you it's kinda hard to fuck things up when you design it with a college type atmosphere), but the NHL has tended to go for doing way too much with this shit as they try to cram more of these games into the schedule. When it was once a year, maybe with a second one for the heritage classic, it just worked better. Who knows, may be in part due to it being Stadium Series vs Winter Classic in the attitude about how the league and teams approach things.

yeah, when UPL went out I knew the Finns might be in trouble due to their goalie situation. Saros is 5 years past his prime and the remaining field is good, but not elite. Canada has the same problem and I think that is the only reason the USA has a shot, what with not bringing several of their best players (and spare me they want defensive responsibility bullshit. Robertson has proven to be one of the best 2-way American wingers). Anyway, I hope we medal but I won't be surprised if it's not gold.

I think another thing I love about Olympic hockey is everyone gets to wear their "home" sweaters. I know the NHL is considering relaxing the home/away rules, but I think unless two teams wear nearly identical uniforms (Calgary, Detroit, Carolina all come to mind) then each team should wear their full color jerseys and the home team should wear the whites when the opposing team has the same color uniform. also think every game should be worth 3 points. but I am not commish. yet. heh

And talking about rivalries--the Leafs playing in their blues against the Habs in red or the Pens in black playing the Flyers in orange would be the greatest sports thing I've ever seen.

Italy hanging with Sweden for nearly two periods. 3-2 Swedes going into the 3rd with a late goal to take the lead. Will probably see the Swedes pull away in the 3rd (Italy has zero NHL players on the roster, even though a couple were available, if I read correctly), but the Eye-talians have played it fairly close so far. their netminder is definitely keeping them in it with the shot difference currently 43-11 😮

Tampa and Dallas currently have two of the worst logos in NHL history. Both look like a toddler created them in Microsoft Paint. Both are just boring as shit. Nothing wonderful about either of their jerseys, too.

Ehh, I’m not the only person that shares this opinion. But whatever you, don’t you fucking ever put the Dallas Stars uniforms in the same sentence as the Red Wings. Those two logos, uniforms, fucking everything are in two different universes. Detroit has the best uniforms and logo in sports.

Canada is just a machine. Watching them roll Czechia was really impressive. Not sure Team USA has the horses to go toe to toe with them.
