So they're introducing a resolution that condemns a broad range of political/economic systems, none of which do they have the slightest idea what they actually are?

That's...cute. I suppose that on similar grounds, they'll condemn "climate science" since they also know oh so much about that too.

The biggest problem is the electorate who sticks with these malignant clowns.

That said, it's amazing what a demonstration this is of how weak the Dems are that they can't smash this opposition. It's also a demonstration of how poor the main stream press deals with something so totally new as the Trump era of lies and anti-American policy.

Trump and the GOP can bumble on with open relations with Russia, overt racial hostility, no semblance of a political philosophy, and an absurdly composed wall of lies without being run out of office let alone run out of the country on a rail.

Usually, you feel like the story is not getting out. If only everyone realized what was going on. Here, it's in your face writ large every day. Good people sleepwalk right by it while deplorables eat it up and wear the jerseys.

And the self-congratulation for being the greatest country in the world never ceases.

A jaw can't drop far enough while watching this unfold.

Schumer's response = way too fucking many words to say that the R's outright lie about wanting to cover pre-existing conditions.

They need to start using the word "lie" straight-up, no more fancy, run-on sentences.  Because it's the only way to accurately characterize the blatant lying, but also because so many people need a short soundbite to process what's happening, unfortunately.

I've been saying this since the dotard was elected.  I'm not sure why Ds still try to go forward with this decorum.  People obviously don't give a shit.

Excellent observation. I completely agree.

Pelosi has gotten better at pith. She was the worst at taking a podium to respond for 4 minutes to an outrageous act by the other side. It's not 1972. The evening news isn't going to play it and the people aren't going to watch it.

Back when there were press conferences, I noted that reporters should change their style as well. They always lead with a long preface. With the Trump administration, they get cut off and never get back on track.  They should also follow up each others' questions; getting a good answer if better than distinguishing yourself with a new unanswered question.

And don't, as you write, pussyfoot around about lying. In fact, ask it straight up:

"Why did the president lie about being at Ground Zero?"

"Was the president lying about who pays the tariffs or does he just not understand tariffs?"

If you can prove he was lying, these are not loaded questions. The premise is accurate.

The Ds need to be prepared to make some enemies by calling the Rs what they are. I'm not sure the Ds are willing to do this. Gotta secure future promotions, committee assignments, cocktail party invitations, shared vacations in the summer, future lobbying positions, etc.

This.

"That's a lie.  The Republican plan doesn't cover pre-existing conditions.  They've never had a plan that does that.  The Dems do."

Shameless, up is down, the sky is green assholes.

Quote

(CNN)Acting Customs and Border Protection chief Mark Morgan fiercely defended Border Patrol officers at a Senate hearing Tuesday morning, saying the "demonizing of law enforcement professionals must stop."

"The men and women of CBP are not running concentration camps, making those in our custody drink from toilets, nor denying them access to toothbrushes. That is simply not true," Morgan said directly disputing the accounts from some members of Congress. "The demonizing of law enforcement professionals must stop."

He said the attacks on the agency are "demoralizing" and deteriorate the public's understanding of the "true issues" at the border.
Morgan also denied Tuesday that there is a culture or pattern of cruel and illegal treatment of migrants in custody. Responding to allegations of humiliation, sexual assault and deprivation raised by Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, Morgan said, "we have to be cautious when there are allegations that have not been fully adjudicated."

He promised that "any allegation will be thoroughly and completely investigated."

New civil war, here we come.

Thank god most of their troops will be like the morons who occupied the Malheur wildlife refuge.  They're heavily armed so they'll be able to do damage, but they're incapable of any form of complex thought much less effective strategic and tactical decision making.

And that's why those of y'all waiting for the "blowback" when Trump finally drops the N-bomb in public are going to be WAY disappointed.  It will only BOLSTER the enthusiasm of his base.  Remember, "he talks like me!"

In no uncertain terms, the GOP is the party of normalizing racism.  It's their fucking MISSION.

No mention of working toward paying down our debt or decreasing deficits?

That letter perfectly encapsulates what the republicans are all about, the rest of the bullshit don’t matter.

They want more money. Their motto is I’ve got mine, now I want yours. The end.

Behind closed doors they are laughing at us. Gay wedding cakes? Hahahahahaha.

Dems need to introduce the “OK, Lets End American Socialism or the Republicans are Fucking Hypocrites Act of 2019”.  It contains 4 lines:

1.  Immediate defunding of the US Military

2.  Immediate defunding of Social Security and Medicare

3.  Immediate defunding of corporate and farming subsidies.

4.  Immediate and complete outlawing of police, fire departments, and public utilities

Who among us doesn't remember Obama cowering on AF1 on 911?  Maybe while Muslims were celebrating on New Jersey rooftops.

Jesus fucking Christ. There should be legal consequences for politicians spewing such blatant, idiotic lies.

It got a lot of people.   It was top ten trending on Twitter because of people who thought it was real.

Yeah I would 100% believe that was true.  How many times do/did they blame Obama for the 2008 recession?

What's happening to the candidate?

You mean the R who won?

Nothing.  And he's not running in the special.  But he never got sworn it either because NC didn't certify his results and threw them out - so he doesn't get his lifetime Congressional perks.

‘Serving under Trump is embarrassing’: Fifth Republican congressman retires in just two weeks as GOP fears more exits

"A fifth Republican congressman appears set to quit the party in the space of two weeks amid ongoing tension over Donald Trump’s presidency.

Representative Mike Conaway will not seek re-election to his Texas seat in 2020, the Politico website reported. He has not confirmed his decision or reason for retiring but he is set to make a statement to the media.

The move has prompted worries within the party that others will follow suit and step down, because of the difficulties that come with serving under Mr Trump and working with a Democratic majority in Congress.

“Serving in the era of Trump has few rewards,” Tom Davis, a former senior Republican congressman, told The Hill website. “He has made an already hostile political environment worse.

“Every day there is some indefensible tweet or comment to defend or explain. It is exhausting and often embarrassing.”

it doesn't make sense that they'd retire now.  they serve out their term anyway, then there is a very good chance trump is not around for the next term.

It's not really because they can't defend Trump.  It's because they can't handle being powerless in the minority, and they don't see that changing any time soon.

Yup.  Most of them had the majority of their careers in the majority - Conway has been in since 2005 - other than 2007-2011 and 2019 - now, he's been in the majority.  Being in the minority SUCKS.

Just ask Democratic House members from 2011 to 2019.

I'd believe that.  I think the house D advantage stays pretty much the same indefinitely going forward, so I can see people looking at being the minority.  I just don't think it has anything to do with Trump like these articles are trying to make out.

It doesn't. People want to read into it.

They don't want to be in the minority - they don't see a path back to the majority in the near future, so why bother.

Or, they know their seat will be radically changed, if not eliminated, for the 2022 maps.  A lot of them are looking ahead and thinking "why fucking bother?" Robey is one whose district may disappear (Alabama is projected to lose a CD in the new census).

Conway would be 74 in 2022 and be introducing himself to potentially new voters in a redraw.  Fuck doing that at 74.
