Yet if Romney ran as an independent in Utah he would would win and deny Trump those electoral votes.

Can't wait until Trump loses the popular vote and EC and still gets a second term thanks to the House.

If it’s any consolation, and I'm afraid it won’t be, I’ve taken to bringing along plates of home-baked cookies, nut breads, brownies, etc when I meet up with folks. It’s considered rude to speak with one’s mouth full and the lagniappe usually deters much ill-willed political discussion. YMMV.

Reminds me of the time Big Enos and Little Enos put Ex-Lax in the Dallas water supply and then cornered the market on toilet paper.

That's called playing your hand too soon. The little boogyloo happens and beware the treats.

I don't know what particularly about the last few days, other than the Senate "trial", but holy fucking shit...distant friends and associates who couldn't name their own U.S. GOP Congressman are suddenly lecturing us on the ins and outs of Republican politics.  Trump lap dogs who could barely spell GOP last week are now the nation's foremost experts on the minutiae of it all?  They've never met with any statewide or federal official or had anything remotely close to their hands on policy formation, but I have to listen to them and their wife talk about I don't know what's what anymore in the U.S./Texas political landscape.  This country had adult children before Trump and we'll have them long after.
Yes, he disrupted the party for worse.  Yes, he turned a lot of politics on its head.  But he'll be gone soon enough.  Our worry is what to do with the 30mm or so of you that will be ministers without portfolio after he's done and gone.

I wonder what happened to the Baathists?

Oh yeah. They all became wanna be Tim McVeys.

Yeah, he seems like he's telling the truth.  Not.

He was brought on specifically to dodge, run interference, and investigate the investigators.  Anything else isn't memorable.

Mike Leach has always been trash but YAR PIRATE AND HE HATES AGGY AND CALLS PLAYERS GIRLFRIENDS FAT so surly/shaggy has a hardon for this dude

The guys an eccentric in a pool of coach speak HCs, is an innovative offensive mind and calls it how he sees it.  Not sure he’s trash but I firmly disagree with his politics as parroting of the FN narrative.

I will say that there was a lot of triggering in the Leach/MSU thread when someone disagreed with those politics.  Naturally the people getting all aggressive and pissy about it were guys like moby and stanco, who don’t post in here much but have often enough that I know which side of the aisle they staunchly defend.  For all their ballyhoo about the left being easily triggered, they sure get their panties wadded up easily.

Ummm hasn’t Alabama been dominated by republicans or conservative Dems for decades?

Alabama cities are dominated by preening artistes selling to loftafarians walking by with their dogs. Tommy Bless-His-Heart Tuberville is a hurp-a-derp Arky who's mentally stuck in an Escape from New York movie. I'll admit that he made his living whooping Shula's ass, which no more than half of us here could have done.

It's almost as if the GOP is ok with election interference from foreign countries now.

They're against illegals voting unless the vote comes from outside the US.  Great.

yep.  trump will receive 4-5 million less actual votes this time around and will be "re-elected" - easily - in a sham.  its amazing to me that people think that we can just "get out the vote" and vote this guy out of office, and he will step aside.  i mean, i'd love to be wrong, but the outcome seems as clear as day to me.

that's a pessimistic attitude.  we just have to get out the vote in the right places - mich, penn, ohio, fla.

i just don't see how that will matter.  Republicans are 100% in on supporting foreign interference.  they aren't just looking the other way this time around, they are actively encouraging it.

Ohio is gone man, that's probably less of a swing state than Texas in 2020.

i would agree, the smart money is on ohio staying red.  florida too, but not mich or penn. it will really depend on the candidate.  the right person could swing this for a dem win.

Ohio is now firmly Republican. Florida less so, I think Bloomberg could win there.

You spend any time in Florida and you realize that state will always be a swing state and simply cannot be predicted. It’s the craziest mash up of all different types of people.

Besides the group of WI, MI, and PA, the top of the list for Dems should be NC and AZ

Georgia is within striking distance too. Florida is Florida.

Focus on Texas because while trump and Cornyn probably carries it, there are both state and federal congress races at play and the Texas Republicans are worried. Also focus on Maine to hopefully drive out Collins.

Iowa is probably now a long shot but I don’t think they should completely give up on it just yet because of Ernst and the senate race.

What countries want Trump to stay in office, and would hack our election in his favor? Isreal?

Come January, Roberts swears in somebody else, that somebody else has the Secret Service, US Marshalls, whoever, escort Trump out of the White House.

Just because Trump and his supporters and the GOP leadership are crooked as shit, doesn't mean everybody else in the government is, especially since Trump and the GOP can't stop shitting on the military, federal employees, the judiciary, etc.

basically think of all the countries in the world with an authoritarian regime that favor trump: russia, china, north korea, philippines, saudi arabia, venezuela.

that's the short list.

FL is still in that second tier just because of its enormous value. Even though I agree it trends R more than people acknowledge and it's pretty much the Democratic white whale for people not named Obama, you can't just concede it when it's that close.

Any man that's ever had a woman in his life should be fucking THRILLED with the notion that women will stock up on tampons.

I can't tell you exactly how many times I made a late-night trip to the supermarket because the (ex)wife "forgot" to pick up tampons, and forgot that shark week was upon us, but the number has to be north of 30.

The next woman in my life at least used a brand that was sold at costco, so we usually had an inventory.  And yeah, I  always kept a few in my glove box for when we took a road trip in my car.

As if that party needed more evidence they are absolutely terrified of women.  I can't wait for women to take over and maybe make this society a decent place.
