Folks, remember this the next time religious zealots lecture you on the sanctity of the First Amendment.  Remember that what they really mean is "First Amendment for me, not for thee."  They value none -- NONE of the values embedded in the Constitution.  They simply extract the First Amendment's protection of the free exercise of religion, extrapolate that to "because everything I want to do, I can justify on the basis of religion, I can do whatever I want to whoever I want," and wad the remainder of the Constitution up and toss it in the trash.

They are anti-Constitutionalists, using the Constitution as a weapon against we the people.  They are scum.  They are evil.

Sadly, you're just getting started.

I truly hope that the weather does tamp down the virus, otherwise the states with Governors that refuse to shut down (or places like Kansas where they Darwin vote) will result in perpetual hot zones that require those with brains to stay isolated until a vaccination emerges.*  I live in North Jersey and have been isolated at home working remote for about a month now, with no apparent end in sight.  It got real old, real fast, and going stir crazy was not a distant possibility.  Thankfully, my natural misanthropic, isolationist tendencies that make the Surl so appealing also serve me well in these times.  But it's just now starting to hit on a national scale.  Can the collective herd maintain an adequate quarantine through the summer?    If lucky, your great-grandkids will tell stories about this year.  If not, somebody else's will.

To be fair, Trump did it last election.  And with anything that Trump has done, you can't blame a rational person for thinking that action MUST be corrupt.  It's a puzzler.

I honestly wonder what it will be that is finally the breaking point for this party and its continued existence. Stealing from their own constituents and doing it with a smile on their face hasn't done it. Racist and oppressive policies towards minorities have not done it. Voter oppression hasn't done it. Leaving migrant children to die at the border hasn't done it. The head moron of this cult letting tens of thousands more people die during a pandemic because he does not have the capability of empathy won't do it. 166 years, the last half-century especially, is enough.

Good ole' Matt.  So outspoken to Bill Burr in recent weeks over his stock gambit.  Probably should have ensured his house was in order first:

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/17/matt-gaetz-rents-office-space-with-taxpayer-funds-191378

  Quote

Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz has spent nearly $200,000 in taxpayer funds renting an office from a longtime friend, adviser, campaign donor and legal client.

Both men said in separate interviews Gaetz paid below market rent for the space — although Gaetz later shifted, saying the rent was “at or below market rate.” House rules explicitly state such arrangements are not allowed.

The agreement between Gaetz and Collier Merrill, a Pensacola real estate developer and restaurateur, highlights how a decades-long relationship can become intertwined with a lawmaker’s congressional duties. On top of being Merrill’s tenant, Gaetz attended fundraisers at Merrill’s restaurants, sought his counsel on policy matters and tapped him as a validator for his work in Washington.

Gaetz — who represents a conservative swath of the Florida Panhandle — has paid more than $184,000 to Merrill’s Empire Partners LLC to rent the entire sixth-floor in the Seville Tower, a historic building in downtown Pensacola, according to House disbursement records. Gaetz has rented from Merrill since he got to Congress in 2017.

House rules state that all leases for district offices must be “at fair market value as the result of a bona fide, arms-length, marketplace transaction. The Lessor and Lessee certify that the parties are not relatives nor have had, or continue to have, a professional or legal relationship (except as a landlord and tenant).”

Merrill said in an interview that Gaetz approached him saying he wanted to rent space in his building. Merrill then dispatched his leasing director to give Gaetz’s staff a “range to see what they can get” and the private negotiation yielded a price in the middle.

So I’m wondering how the whole anti socialist theme by Moscow Mitch and the republicans is gonna work in light of the trillions of dollars being spent on government bailouts of business.

THis is the correct answer.  Another board I frequent full of Oil and Gas industry people is cheering on their free $1,200 and hoping dotard will agree to the idea of paying oil companies to keep their oil in the ground.

Bring up government assisted health care and you better watch the fuck out because FUCK YOU COMMIE.  We can't afford that shit, apparently.

Well, yeah. He is also a fake Florida resident. He is both cheating taxes and voting fraudulently. And, of course, shitting on the spirit of the rule that allows the President to bypass the residency requirements the rest of us Americans have to follow.  The triple dip of corruption.

Surprised he didn't fake move to PA, WI, or MI instead though. He isn't ever paying income taxes anywhere anyway, and is still paying NY property tax.

Was a time when just one bad issue would doom your campaign for life. Now it only dooms Democrats.   Deans campaign bottomed out because of a gesture and scream. He never said anything wrong or did anything offensive or broke any laws or rules.  Democrats don't even grant themselves a fair trial--looking at Frankin.  I really think he should run again.

Set up a small venue and let them get nice and close and hold their rallies. Invite Trump, Pence, their local (R) Congressman and Senator to the rally. Let them blow off some steam. It will be cathartic for them in the moment and for us two weeks down the road.

There isn’t one.

The idocracy has grown too hardened and too large.

I hate to say it, but more people have to die and die in places that these people live. That is the only way this changes.

I didn’t want to be macabre, so I didn’t respond with this. But this is the answer. The only counterpunch is that the protesters aka puppets either have to get really sick themselves or their family members dying. That’s it. This is a game to them until it’s their mom or dad lying prone hooked up to a ventilator. Sad that it has come to this, but we all know that even if trump is defeated, it’s going be real real ugly.

I was watching a show about southern food and culture last night and I think I blame corporations for the destruction of rural America, which ultimately has led us to where we are now.  Walmart, corporate agriculture, and the like came in and drove the local businesses and farms into the ground.  Then the young people saw their options for staying diminishing and the ones who were able went to college and never came back.

Now there is an extreme propaganda movement aimed at these people whose communities are nothing like they were 40-50 years ago.  Blame someone else, pay no attention to the corporations behind the curtain.

The trump rally protests are small, are stupid, are opposed by the vast majority of Americans, and are as a result worthless and inconsequential.

But the media has to sell conflict, so we get to hear about Alex Jones type protest crap.

Not sure where to put this, as it features Biden, but it is Matt Gaetz being his usual misogynistic clueless self. Thinks he is so hip with the slang. Yeah, no Matt, it looks about as good as when TexAgs finally figured out what "Karen"  meant and started using it over the last two weeks.
