The founder of The Bulwark was on Morning Joe and, while not claiming credit for the term, referred to CPAC as the Insurrection After Party. I thought that was pretty good.

Need any more proof that these fucks are truly a cult now?

Let’s pray over some stupid ass figure that was made in Mexico by an artist that was probably high as a kite while making it.

They'll just have him stuffed and parade him all over the country.

Reminds me of when I was in Bangkok after the King had died, and our guide causally mention that they shoved a large stick up the King's ass to keep him propped up for the mourners filing by.

After that happens to Trump, some aggy is going to spend his life savings to buy Trump's stick.

Wow, didn't catch that. But yeah there's basically no difference between praying over that dumb ass statue or the real dumb ass.

2022 is going to be glorious to see he and his followers trying to primary every House and Senate Republican who didn't suck him off enough.  I'm sure Mitch will be thrilled with that.

Speaking of Q...is Trump still retaking the Presidency on Thursday the 4th?  I assume it happens at 12noon-EST?

I had read rumors of it being moved to the 20th?

That will be confirmed when it doesn't happen on 3/4...

I thought Trump and Biden switched faces and it's been Trump as president since Jan 21?

No you're thinking of Travolta and Cage switching faces.  Both of whom are infinitely more qualified to be President of the United States.

So it looks like Trump things he's gonna be the next Grover Cleveland and serve two non-consecutive terms as President?

Fun fact---Cleveland actually won three straight popular votes (1884, 1888, and 1892).  He lost the White House in 1888, in what was then an incredibly rare instance of winning the popular vote but losing the Electoral College.  One of only two Presidents ever to achieve the "3-Peat."  Looks like Trump is gunning for a "3-Peat" of his own.  Should he run again, he would be certain to lose the popular vote (who knows with the EC) and become the only candidate in U.S. history to ever lose three consecutive popular votes for President of the United States.  He's already in extremely rare company having lost it twice---joining only Dewey and Stevenson since the Civil War (I think Clay lost like 4 times over 30 years or some crazy shit back in the early 1800's--many called him "The Clay Trump of his Day."

They should have really pushed it a lot further out. Maybe 3/4/2022. They really shortened their grift window.  Every huckster who has ever written a doomsday prophecy knows you need to get the book out at least a year in advance.

Make America 1950 again.

Every time I hear somebody I know say that we need more religion in schools, that it should be taught/encouraged, I like to remind them that the largest religious group in Texas are Catholics.  Then it dawns on them (almost all of my friends/relatives are not Catholic), and they start walking that back.

It’s quite amazing how Rs don’t ever advance any policies regardless of whether they are in power or not. They are useless. Useless pustules.

I dunno. “Being relentlessly punitive against brown people because they are to blame for literally everything” is kind of a policy, and they’ve sure pursued it.

What could their policies be? It’s just a grab bag from their 4 core groups.

Racism (Southern Democrats post Civil Rights Act)

- stop browns from immigration

- anti-BLM

Evangelical (Great migration after Roe v Wade)

- stop abortion

- put prayer in school

Guns

- 2A unlimited

-  Thin Blue Line

No Sharing Resources (fiscal conservatives)

- lower taxes

- no regulations

- free market when it benefits me

- vote my pocketbook no matter what.

new branch

Trumpism

- owning libs

- conspiracy theories

- Ultra Fear Monger

Well that’s the general MO...it’s always about what the Dems/Libs are GOING to do...take away your guns, abortions like food trucks, kill God, women with purple hair, etc.

Me, I hate on the GOP for what they HAVE DONE.  Bungling covid, run up the deficit with a tax break for rich/companies, voter suppression, support an insurrection attempt, fail to convict on two clear cut impeachments, rollback regulations on the banking industry that lead to a recession, hypocritical approach on SCOTUS nominations, etc.

In my mind those are two different things but somehow the rubes buy right into it via fear.

I think Hawley may have one chord of humanity in him somewhere after all.  his mother was a longtime school teacher in small-town Missouri.

Hawley voted yes?  Was that his first one?

I'm guessing Hawley isn't on that list because he wasn't in the Senate when DeVos came up for a vote.

It has been an incredible strategy. Scream about how Government is broken and that only the GOP can help fix it. They get into power and break everything then get to go out to their constituents and say, "Hey! Look! Government is broken and only I can fix it". Rinse and repeat while only supporting bills that allow more dark money into the system along with suppressing voting to allow their minority have the view of the majority.

Damn - 13 different music key changes in one song.

giphy.gif&f=1&nofb=1

To quote Charles Ives, the great American composer:

"...beauty in music is too often confused with something that lets the ears lie back in an easy chair. Many sounds that we are used to, do not bother us, and for that reason, we are inclined to call them beautiful...when a new or unfamiliar work is accepted as beautiful on its first hearing, its fundamental quality is one that tends to put the mind to sleep".

I admire CPAC and their willingness to challenge our lazy ears in terms of both tonality and temperament. It’s very forward looking stuff.
