The GQP: Trumpist Death Cult

Trump won Texas because of white voters. Biden could’ve won the valley 100-0 and Trump would’ve still won by hundreds of thousands of votes.

I suppose I was being imprecise when I said the valley. And I realize there are still a shitload of stupid white people in this state who are primarily to blame.

But I was optimistic about Biden winning Texas because I wrongly thought the Hispanic vote would show up and put Biden over the top anyway. Instead they showed up and the opposite occurred.

Trump won 20 percent of the Hispanic vote in California. He doubled that in Texas taking 40 percent of the Hispanic vote and even outright winning some border counties.

So if 20 percent of the Hispanic vote in Texas votes for trump instead of 40 percent who wins? I’m not great at math but if the Hispanic vote was 23 percent of Texas overall if you cut that in half that’s an 11.5 point swing and pretty much a race so close were in recount territory. Or is it a comfortable Biden win? Again I suck at math.

My only real point on that is we need to figure out how and why that happened in the first place.

Really setting yourselves up for both a Hispanics are white, and Hispanics aren’t a monolith (Tejano,Cubano, Angeleno) discussion

1.) Correct, but for the purpose of this discussion where we have data breaking the Hispanic vote out from the non Hispanic white vote, as well as by geographic area, not relevant.

2.) Of course. Harris County, for example, isn’t as blue as it is because white people in Cypress voted for Biden. Different subgroups of Hispanic voters have different priorities and voting patterns. But again, the post in question was referring specifically to the valley/border region.

I agree if Trump is on the ballot in 2022 dems won’t pick up any seats in texas

I don’t disagree that the midterms are a different ballgame. The post I responded to was specifically talking about Trump’s performance in the 2020 election though.

Well, now we’re getting beyond the valley/border and just talking about a different electorate, because there are a ton of Hispanic voters in the big metro areas and they vote differently than the border/South Texas. Yes, if you cut the Republican portion of the Hispanic vote in half it probably flips the state or comes very close to doing so. But the GOP has about a 30 percent floor with Hispanics in Texas, historically. Trump getting 40 percent was surprising but not unprecedented. A Republican getting 20 percent would be awful in a jaw dropping way.

I think this is really the problem.  When 30-40% of a demographic that a politician and his party openly hate still vote for them, there's something wrong.

A lot of folks were into that in the 90s. It was a lot of fun.

FWIW, one of the new(ish) hashtags the Republican reps are trying to get trending is #OurWayOfLife. Can't quite put my finger on that phrase (eye roll), but the plausible deniability they will use and the cultural battle they are gathering weapons with which to prepare for 2022 is going to be painful to watch as it picks up steam.

Dumb Question Amnesty: Do people in the LGBTQIA+ community get tired of the acronym name? Just from a purely branding standpoint and ease of use, why not switch to the Rainbow community and fade out the acronyms. I mean, the Rainbow flag is already used and some people already use the Rainbow community name. Seems like saying all the letters would be a beating? Maybe not. I don’t know. I’m dumb.

I knew a dude who knew a dude so i learned of the Rainbow Family. I enjoy the company of hippies, but I get that other folks want no part of it.

Maybe this is why the LGBTQ folks don’t call themselves rainbow people.

If I'm going to make it on a GQP list, this seems like a good start...and in several categories even. Was a little disappointed that Surly's didn't make the list, though.

I liked how "feminist's" were placed between "gangster's" and "Mormon's." It's important to understand the order of things, apparently. Based on his grammar and spelling, however, I'm surprised "educator's" were absent from his sign.

God must spend most of his time smiting people, if that list is accurate. I bet he’d like to spend more time doing cool God shit like making double rainbows or watching people have sex but he seems pretty packed with striking down “Mormon’s” and “effeminate men’s”

The worst offender is “thieve’s”

I agree.  I imagine it went like this...

Sign Writer:  So basically, I add an apostrophe to anything that ends with an S.

Maga Grammar Nazi:  Pretty much but there are exceptions, like "druggies" doesn't need the apostrophe because you're changing the y to ie and that makes it plural.

Sign writer:  So I wouldn't add an apostrophe to "thieves", right?

Maga Grammar Nazi:  No. It should be "thieve's" because it's irregular.

"Government recipients" made the list!  So farmers, defense contractors, schools, churches and all poor people are all devil-lovers.  Hell, I just any of us that use city water, drive on public roads or use the internet are also satanists.

Also, out of curiosity what is a "P.K."?

Honest question of the board: how widely known is it in Texas than Allen West is a legit convicted war criminal?

I mean, I guess the passage below reveals that just doesn't fucking matter, but still.

Quote

The story of how West became the chairman starts in August of 2003, when he was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army stationed in Taji, a village north of Baghdad. West later testified that an intelligence specialist had told him that the local insurgency was targeting him, in a plot that involved a police officer named Yehiya Hamoodi, who had worked with the Americans in the past.

West ordered his soldiers to seize Hamoodi. “This could get ugly,” he told his subordinates, who beat the man as West stood by. When Hamoodi continued to profess his innocence, West took him outside and staged a mock execution in which he fired his pistol near Hamoodi’s head. In West’s telling, Hamoodi immediately confessed and named names. In Hamoodi’s version, he told West what he wanted to hear to save his life. (Nothing came of the information Hamoodi gave.) Mock executions are a textbook form of torture—a war crime—and are expressly prohibited in the U.S. Army Field Manual. When word of West’s actions spread, he was relieved from command and nearly court-martialed.

What seemed an ignominious end to a military career turned out to be a fine start for a political one. West became a conservative cause célèbre overnight, a hero to those who thought America’s armies of occupation were being hamstrung by effete bureaucrats and who were eager for evidence that torture “worked.” Right-wing media personalities raised money for his legal defense; 95 Republican members of Congress signed a letter defending his actions. Instead of facing as much as eleven years in prison, West was assessed a $5,000 fine and went home to Florida to become a high school social studies teacher.

Pakistanis perhaps?

Probably Promise Keepers? But you shouldn't rule out Place Kickers. After all, that Morten Andersen was dubbed the "Great Dane" so maybe he met the devil at the crossroads and sold his soul to make some of those field goals. He did play for the Saints after all....

In a certain circle I intersect with "PK" means a "pastor's kid."  And from what I have observed.....yes, they are almost all going to hell.  Including mine.

According to authorities on the subject like Charlie Kirk, Ben Shapiro, and Tucker Carlson; Lebron James and Prince Harry are examples of effeminate men.
