I'm sure the delorean was fast, but I always thought he would have smashed into that picture going about 50 mph.

Delorean 0-60 was 9.5 seconds and the speedometer maxes out at 85.  It probably took 15 seconds to get to 88 and needed a quarter mile

Losing your child has to be an awful experience. She wouldn't be the first person that tried to blame something...anything for their child's death. "It was her dealers fault she took the drugs...it was the person that texted her and made her take her eyes off the road...it was the cop that shot her for trying to break through the barricade she had been warned not to cross". I guess finding someone or something to direct your anger is a natural reaction.

It's sad there are people out there that would stick her in front of a camera for political points.

Ohio’s U.S. Senate candidates, Tim Ryan and J. D. Vance, held their first debate last night in Cleveland. I wrote last year about why I find Vance so execrable, but my friend Jim Swift, a native Ohioan, argued today that while “Ryan gave a serviceable performance,” he “didn’t beat Vance into the ground, and given how far Ohio has gone in a MAGA direction, that’s what he needed to do.”

One moment, however, struck me. At a rally in Ohio last month, Donald Trump declared, “J. D. is kissing my ass, he wants my support so bad”—while Vance was standing right by the stage. Last night, Ryan slammed Vance for selling his dignity:

-I don’t know anybody I grew up with—I don’t know anybody I went to high school with—that would allow somebody to take their dignity like that and then get back up onstage. We need leaders who have courage to take on their own party. And I’ve proven that. And he was called an “ass kisser” by the former president.

I understood Ryan’s exasperation. I’m not from Ohio, but I was raised in a working-class neighborhood. Where I grew up, if you sneered that a man was kissing your ass—and said it to his face—that other fellow might react by knocking you on that particular part of your anatomy. But Vance’s reaction to Trump calling him out as a spineless loser at his own rally was to run up to Trump like a puppy that just got a treat, wagging his tail for another tasty biscuit.

The moderator/council should have cut power to that microphone and kicked the fucker out the moment he said that.  I'm with @DigglerontheHoof, if that were happening here (Austin), I'd be inclined to go provide an alternative voice, and my kids are out of AISD and in college.

The moment you decide to send your kids to that fucking dipshit's "school", its game over for your kids. Its not even worth it to dissect individual data points of curriculum, cult songs, etc... Kanye is bat shit crazy. You will be fucking your kids over by exposing them to his bullshit.

Lots of "interesting" t-shirts at the State Fair last weekend.  Apparently guns and the second amendment are popular styles.

You know Twice will be here any second to explain why you are wrong, in a legal sense.  And he's probably not wrong.  But you aren't either.

The basic answer is that the basic crime most of them were charged with is a form of trespassing, a misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of one year or less.

The felonies that have been charged, other than the assault on police officers or others and destruction of property(self-explanatory), are obstruction of an official proceeding and seditious conspiracy, both of which are pretty difficult to prove in terms of intention and/or conspiracy.

Secondarily, for the more touristy type of rioter, a deep dive into their media, text messages, etc. might have shown a fleeting intention to obstruct an official proceeding that might even support a conviction.  But the government has enough trouble swallowing nearly 1000 prosecutions arising from a single event, let alone felonies.  That is an entire years worth of filings arising on the 6th day of the year.
