The GQP: Trumpist Death Cult

They couldn't even get the hand count right in their own primary in Gillespie County.

"The election was a low-profile party primary, but stakes are high. Gillespie County Republicans, led by Campbell, decided months ago to hand-count more than 8,000 ballots. Experts agree and studies show the method is time-consuming, costly, less accurate, and less secure than using machines, but local Republicans, citing unsupported concerns about the accuracy of voting machines, were determined to try and show otherwise. Workers recruited and trained by the party counted until the early hours of the next morning, and declared the effort a success. Proponents of hand-counting are now touting GIllespie as a model."

This shit is fucking flabbergasting.  It took them hours and hours to count 8,000 votes and finalize the results, during which there were issues at multiple stages.  No worries though - just a few innocent mistakes:

Quote

He told Votebeat that 197 voters had cast ballots at his precinct on election day. ... As he went down the list, he noticed he had 207 votes reported for a third race.

Quote

“So there were two ballots, and I just didn't add them up. So I would have had to add 450 and two, and it would have been 452 and I didn't. I just forgot to fill it in,” Treibs said in the video posted last week. “So I don't really think that's something that's going to shut down the election and it's like, ‘oh my gosh, he didn't add 450 and two and come up with 452 and now that means the whole election was a failure.’ Well, that's ridiculous.”

Quote

Some judges quickly explained how errors happened on Thursday during the canvass, reasons ranging from “poor penmanship” that was hard to read, to accidentally writing the wrong numbers, or miscalculations.

Quote

When writing the total number of votes for a proposition on the ballot, Smith wrote the number 451. It should have been 415. “I literally just switched the two numbers when I wrote it down on the form,” she said, something she attributed to exhaustion in the wee hours of the morning after a long night.

Quote

All but one of the county’s 13 Republican precincts had reported incorrect totals on the official reconciliation forms.

Close enough, right?  I'm sure the GQP is fine with the counts being +/- 2-3%, right?

It astonishes me that there are people who think a human vote count is less susceptible to errors and outright manipulation than a computer count.  What it really means is that they think a computer can be programmed to cheat but human beings don't cheat, and don't make mistakes, either.

They are the same ones bitching about how long it takes and the nefarious nature to processing it all.

I don't think that they want more accurate counts.  In fact I think that they want to introduce so much inaccuracy that they can just throw out the results and declare a winner of their choosing, or delay their reporting such that it cannot be accepted by the state, then complain about how they are being cheated.  Either way, they want to throw our election process into chaos so that they can undermine confidence in it.  They are not acting in good faith.

Yes, at the higher levels.  The rank and file -- the vast majority -- have bought into this lie that voting machines are often compromised and that the real vote totals are far different than reported.

A bit conspiratorial to add to this, but the rural counties have been reporting first, pretty much national wide, and this slow down provides an opportunity for urban areas to potentially report first, then the fucking around could happen in rural areas, which is where their base is.   Crazy, as I said conspiratorial type thinking, but given what they've shown us they are willing to do, I don't think it's a huge stretch.  Hopefully, this idea is all for not, as the urban vote is too much overcome even with ridiculous shenanigans, but to put it completely past them....

I hadn't thought about a "Box 13" situation, but that is also an opportunity for them to monkey wrench elections.

Some of those rural counties will need every last voter to stick around - need everyone registered voters' fingers and toes to count that high.

Probably the fact he conceded before the polls were closed?  Maybe they do it differently there, and release count as they come in, and not wait until after the polls close.  Doubtful.  He might have been going off of exit poll results?

Don’t know how competitive that district is but it’s obvious from his comment that he assumes the R primary winner is going to win the general. So what are we calling out here?

Yes the R primary winner will win the district. There’s 11 people running. You don’t usually declare you lost before the polls close, unless you’re saying it’s rigged

Dumbass retracted it and said they have 2 releases ready to go and this one went out by accident

At what point do we seriously start considering these people traitors as opposed to unwitting morons?  I mean, they are clearly morons, but people like Tucker?  He may be the biggest traitor there is aside from dotard and Flynn.

Had some great seasons with the Red Sox as well.  I forget he pitched a whopping 8 innings for the Yankees, so Helobius must love him.

What were we talking about again?  Oh yeah, J6 worshippers.  I have noticed, aside from a few insane House Members, the banter about them being illegally imprisoned 'n shit has all but died down.  And even some of them are finally admitting they've been totally slighted by Trump.  I hate to use the Battered Woman Syndrome analogy, but it's the most appropriate.  "You don't know what it's like when we're alone, he loves me!"  Some of them still think he cares about them and is only ignoring them/stealing money from them because he loves them.  But enough of them are at least waking up to the fact that they need to move on.  They're still fucked for life, but at least it's a step.

Sometimes it's funny to watch stupid people realize they're stupid in real time.  Most of the time, it never occurs to them.  But when it does, it's a wonderful drug.

At least that one woman had the honesty to say she didn't know how many amendments there were and that all she cared about were the 1st & 2nd.  At least she's transparent and not spouting bullshit preceded by, "Well, as a student of the Constitution, let me learn ya' something."  I've taken multiple courses in undergrad and law school in ConLaw and even I don't know what each amendment is once you get past #14.  But everybody should at least familiarize themselves with the Bill of Rights.  Everybody MAGA just trails off after their 2A rants.  But you sure as shit bet they're about to get even more familiar with the 5th Amendment because it's about to be all Trump can utter in public.

I mean I considered them traitors about 4-5 years ago.

Okay, Cruz saying "Anal Blast" is the biggest laugh of my week.  I mean, I know it wasn't him.  But considering his affinity for Cory Chase anal porn and him celebrating it's banning in Texas with no sense of irony.

Oh wait, shit.  So we're literally a simulation making a simulation.  Goddamit!

Oklahoma already fits right in!

Some other thread, some other topic based on southern baptism/evangelicalism, there were a series of articles and one included a discussion of the subsequent legacies of slavery and the slave states. One notable set of charts was the general health and life expectancy, prevalence of heart disease, etc, on a state by state basis. It pretty much looked like the map in this tweet. Basically, all the confederate states had horrible fucking life expectancies and outsized levels of hearth disease...becuase they had outsized numbers of African American populations by percentage.  Of course, this can also be true as well as the comment that guy made in his tweet. Funny how all that shit remains intertwined. But yeah, there's no racism that exists tdoay!
