The GQP: Trumpist Death Cult

The percentage of family budget spent on gasoline today is functionally the same/less than the average percentage over the past 50 years.  Yes, fuel prices sunk like hell when Covid hit (and demand went down), and went up as we came out of Covid (and demand went up).  But after those two spikes in two different directions, we're pretty much back to normal trends.

Republicans and their voters are fucking dumb.  Shocking news there, I know.

True story, had a gal on FB hammer out a woe is my family post in 2015-2016 regarding oil prices and that they need to be higher bc her husband was a roughneck. And how she feared a dem win

Maybe the bitch is filling up with premium.

Well yea, her 80k BMW only takes premium. And it is expensive filling that up for a drive to her 3.9mil beach home.  But that is beside the point.  She  is tired of being beat down as a struggling middle class citizen!

Unfortunately the shift to smaller turbo charged engines means many more vehicles run on premium now. Most will run just fine on regular though and adjust timing as needed. I'd bet the majority of people use regular regardless.

My buddy FAFO on a supercharged land cruiser running regular to the tune of an engine replacement. Boom.

I'd tend to expect Germans are even more demanding you follow recommendations on fuel choice and engine oils.

Sure, but supercharged an engine and run on regular whilst it knocks like crazy and boom.

I had a CJ 7 jeep that had to eat premium or it ran like shit  Every mechanic I took it to just said run premium bro. Ran great for years.

I've said it before, but how cheap do people think gas should be? It's insane the entitlement Americans have for cheap energy prices while wasting money on all kinds of other worthless garbage.

I want it to be dirt cheap because there’s no demand for it since we’re all driving electric cars and we get all our energy from clean, renewable sources.

I am befuddled why people would want to save money on the gas instead of the car.

But yeah, German engineering, love it or don't, do NOT play games with it.

At a middle school football game, woman is outside the entrance gate sitting in a golf cart with big Trump flag flying on the back. I can’t stand the attention seeking idiots but wtf are you doing that at a middle school football game for?!

She is spoiling for a fight. She will lose her mind when that fight comes be it the popo or a neighbor with differing but equally passionate beliefs. She will then feel repressed and triggered. Retreat to her fainting white claw couch. Maybe post to FB about her ordeal. Hopefully she wakes up in time to get Okayden and Riley to school on time.

If they would vehemently deny that our founding fathers did not practice nor have the same Christian beliefs that most Americans especially evangelicals have today. For the most part they didn’t believe in Jesus other than his moral teachings.  They also believed more in reason, logic and natural law rather than divine revelation.

most importantly they were against widespread or large religious institutions.

The only person who deliberately tried to scam me of eBay was a Christian musician. I know because I looked his ass up on social media. Fucker tried to blame the church secretary for not mailing the (nonexistent) package. He mighta had the Church on his side, but he didn't have a tracking number. Win one refund for the heathens.

Just a thought, Nancy:  carpool

Beyond the importance of looking at the price of gasoline in today's dollars, we also need to address the very real fact that on average cars are over 35% more fuel effficient than they were 20 years ago.

They are also:

safer

handle better

more reliable

easier to drive (power steering, back up cameras, power windows, etc)

but 200% harder to fix. I have to take the goddamn air intake thingy off to put in a new battery on my truck. I had to take off that piece of shit plastic cover on the bottom of the car AND the pipe (or whatever its called) that connects the catalytic converter to the muffler to replace a starter on the beater econobox. What fucking engineer thought it was a good idea to put the starter on the bottom of the car?

No doubt. That trend has been going for a good 60 years now. I remember "helping" my Dad work on our Impala back in the early 70s and it looked like there was space enough to crawl in next to the engine and take a nap. Then 80s Toyotas were simple to work on, but you had to subcontract a 5-year-old to reach some of the bolts. 90s saw widespread reliability with a last gasp of simplicity.
