The GQP: Trumpist Death Cult

You know what I love?  I love how so many Republican leaders say -- with zero enthusiasm or sincerity -- "racism is wrong, and there's no place in the GOP for racism"......while fanning the flames of racism and letting the base run rampant with it.

Check out these comments sent to the Ft. Bend County Judge, who happens to be South Asian:

Fucking ignorant racism and xenophobia among the Party of Trump ain't a bug -- it's the central fucking feature.  They are nothing without it.

Yup exactly my experience.  If I'm doing business with you and organically find out you are Republican or Christian, we have no beef.  If you are pushing it at me from the time I walk in the door, you are up to no good, and you plan to stiff me if you can get away with it.  People that hide behind their symbols to absolve them of shitty behavior piss me off.  And when the symbols are right out front for everyone to see, that usually means they won't have to wait long to see that shitty behavior.

you mean like Christian Brother automotive repair? God told them to open up a repair shop so what else can they call it. I agree with your sentiment but others seems to be drawn in like moths to a flame.

You're not paying attention. The electorate is getting younger and they won't stand for the politics of old. If you need a model for what i mean, see AOC. Love her or think she's an idiot socialist doesn't matter here. She's the embodiment of what the younger generations want to see in their leaders. There is no going to back to anything here. We're in a whole new era. There is no predicting what happens from here. Is that to say the Dems won't fuck up along the way? I'd bet a nut the Dems absolutely will trip over their dicks along the way. But their voters will hold them to a higher standard than Republican voters have their elected officials. And that matters in this election more than people are talking about.
Republicans are hoping the brainwashing took.

We keep hearing that. We still have ted cruz.

I had to go look after seeing what Brisket posted. This is just about what I thought I might see as a response to really anything this judge says on social media. Screw the guy for being a member of the Cult of Personality party, but double fuck the racist assclown who wrote those responses. I will never vote for a Republican the rest of my life, but I sure as hell won’t dislike one because of being an immigrant with a different skin color. There are some really shitty people who need to be exposed for stuff like those responses.

Let's see if Ohio wakes the fuck up. The Ohio republican party might be a bit concerned

Furrowed brow concerned?  It'll take more than a 60 million dollar bribery scandal, presidential involvement with a child trafficking, economic crash and plague to concern Ohio Republicans.  They have their own brainwashing news channel, media outlets and pro-life issue.  Just need to up gerrymandering and election tampering and all fixed.

I could have sworn we were the “United” States of America.

Wonder how much federal  money Florida took for hurricane relief when Scott was governor.

New York senators should sponsor the "only pay for stuff in your own state Act" -- mandating that no state can pay for any expenses incurred in any other state, expressly including hurricane and disaster relief.

WTF?!? Why would you post that, and why would you think we'd want to watch this?

Because, I think that play perfectly incapsulates Abbot's COVID response....except this was only a 14 pt swing instead of 21 pts. So I understand your objection.

Oh and I didn't see Foreman going around celebrating while Tech was scoring....

Maybe the better response should have been

Crazy ass GOP Chair in Bexar County now refusing to certify results after she got shit-stomped. You may remember in the wake of George Floyd’s death she said it was political staged.

Your move Allen West.

She's a moronic psychopath who traffics in conspiracy theories and idiocy.

So....if you want an idea of how Trump will handle the results of the election results, just read this article.  He will do everything to undermine our democracy, and he will never leave the White House voluntarily.

TravCo GOP Chair has ideas about people's appearance. Twitter has comments. Ratio happens. A thread.

I'm way behind on this thread, in fact, I think this may be my first visit in weeks. I thought the proximity of these posts was very interesting.

Matt seems to be fairly young, but he displays the strange over-confidence of stolid GOPs of all ages. He's sure that everyone will join him in his guffaw at the wig and respect his tie and coat. He may as well have said, "With hair these days, you can't tell the boys from the girls! Haw haw haw!"

People like Matt slide into being GOPs like a hand slides into a worn glove or a scrotum hangs just right in a veteran jockstrap. It's easy. Comfortable. It comes with no requirement for thought and the assumption of absolute righteousness.

The good post about the young from Longhornfan nicely distinguishes between comfortable shitheels like Matt and iconoclasts like AOC. I only question the number of the young who feel this way and how well they will sustain the cause over the decades. The young of Longhornfan's post are taking a hard road while Matt's path offers the ease of an almost religious dedication to the myths and lies of America.

I'm tempted to say that I belong to a generation that had similar feelings to Longhornfan's. Certainly iconoclasm was the fashion of my younger days. Some argue that we Boomers sold out, got greedy, or maybe were rotten from the start. I suspect that's the case for a slice of the generation, but there were always people like Matt. There will always be people like Matt.

The difference, that I see, with the young of Longhornfan's post is the entirely different world of information they've grown up with and their superior defenses against cornball emotional appeals. The question I have is about how many of that generation does that image really fit.

Of course, I hope it's universal. I hope it's sustainable over time. Have no doubt, the hard road does not get easier. Boomers halted the war and helped destroy Nixon and the establishment that had similarities to what Trump is clumsily trying to create (that's simplistic, but stick with me here, please). After that big victory, everybody went home. Disco and cocaine all around. Prosperity.

In that break, the GOP and the right went back to work creating a sustainable hate engine to gather support for what Trump's actions now expose. The young will lead the way in deposing him. New representatives will be elected. Laws will be passed. But then what?

Hopefully we get women and BLM leadership who stay true to their principles, otherwise it just starts over. The great powers never give up.

Sorry for the long post.

There is one young person in my family who is seriously considering leaving the US because he believes the GOP has broken us and the country isn't going back. He's the offspring of GenX parents so maybe we're to blame for the 'abandon hope' attitude, but given the COVID timing adding to a sense of loss and bewilderment, he may snap out of it by the time he graduates.

Not that it's new, but it's it funny how the GOP will move heaven and earth to get quick relief for the billionaires and millionaire, and simply show little to no concern for the little guy (despite the endless lying and lip service to the contrary).

So the Dems got to work and passed a bill on MAY FUCKING 15th, to address the next round of relief.  What does the GOP do?  Nothing, zero, zilch, nada... they just sat at piddled and twiddled their thumbs. Now millions of Americans are about to begin being evicted,   and their $600 a week unemployment benefit subsidy is disappearing. Yet in the 70 days since the Dems in the House passed an actual relief bill....the GOP is ALMOST ready to stop negotiating with itself.  The complete lack of empathy and concern for the working men and women of this country is quite frankly mind boggling to me.

OF course the bill the GOP is going to present has had no debate, no amendments, and right now resembles the sort of a business plan two drunk college sophomores sketch out on a bar napkin.  How the fuck can the GOP not take this whole thing more seriously????

Sorry.  It got stuck in line behind their comprehensive plan to replace the ACA which is [checks notes, which haven't changed in 10 years] just two weeks away from being ready.  They'll get that ACA replacement passed, then they'll get right to the task of making sure that the wealthy are protected while the rest of folks are allowed to slowly slip beneath the water.  They've got a lot on their plate, man.
