Which one is Emawsome?

You can have that perspective, and it doesn't faze me one bit. But the reality is I continue to positively impact hundreds of lives each year through my job and enjoy the mutual respect and gratitude shared with my students and colleagues. And now I’m going to go pack for my family's 10-day trip to Orlando.

Can you support the GOP now and not be pure scum?   The  GOP continuing to block  legislation to protect us from Russian election attack.    Lobbyists running and gutting the agencies that protect our national resources.

Jesus, there is not currently an honest patriotic Christian in the whole damn party.  Just a Venn diagram of deplorable racists and anti-foreigners, the deeply stupid, or the gullible doofuses who have abdicated their responsibility to keep up with the political life of their nation because they only watch Fox, or they need to watch Real Housewives.

I know some in category three.  They are nice folks,  but blindingly unaware that most of the information that they believe true is - well - not true.    It is certainly easier to fool a person than  convince them that they have been fooled.   We have an unfortunately large group of folks who cannot admit that Trump and the GOP are scum, as the predicate requires them to admit that they have been conned, and have not been paying attention to anything going on, save listening to Rush on the drive home or Hannity on their TV.

It will be interesting to see in ten years how many folks still admit to having supported Trump.    My guess is that we are going to see revisionist history on a grand scale regarding who supported the GOP during this administration.   I have a friend whose sister was appointed a Federal Judge under the Trump administration.   I told her, "Well, she just bought into being thought of by many who only know her by that appointment as an incompetent ideologue for the remainder of her career.   She accepted that appointment. She needs to own what comes with  it."

Emphasis on "game."  He's been a vocal Trump supporter.  Has even called out Trump's rhetoric against Latinos?

There should be no political forgiveness in the future for any politician who supported Trump.

Yep. There should be a truth and reconciliation commission set up on January 21st, 2021.

Trump and his administration aren’t going anywhere.  There is virtually no chance he acknowledges defeat and hands over the reigns - regardless of what happens with the election.  Do people really think that is what is going to happen, that Trump is going to get “voted out” of office and steps aside?   I’d seriously be interested in hearing people’s honest answers to this.  I’d honestly put the chances of that result at less than 2%.

John Roberts’ legacy will not be not administering the oath to a new president. Once that’s done, new president will have his fat ass dragged out of the Oval Office. He’s officially no longer in power.

This is shooting from the hip after an afternoon at Austin Beer Works, so take it for what it's worth:

10%: Trump wins legitimately
30%: Trump wins with foreign help or the help of Republican secretaries of state in key states
5%: Trump loses and bows out in a dignified manner
30%: Trump loses, bitches about it, but steps aside
20%: Trump loses, bitches, it goes to a protracted recount/court case, and he steps aside before January 20th
5%: Trump loses, but refuses to leave

The Russians and the Rs haven't been sitting on their hands for 2 1/2 years. By next November, it would not be surprising if they have ways to manufacture/change the votes they need to win.

In other words, make the race seem close enough so that the changed votes they cast in battle ground states seem legit. It is probably what they have already done to put him in office.

The thing is, how do they think we will sit on our hands and not rise up and fuck them up when the truth comes out? If that is what happens then we are already over. FML

How is that any different than what’s going on now, and has been going on for quite some time?  Answer: it’s not.

It’s going to be on the democrat to be the stronger leader should things get sticky.

Someone that can galvanize the masses to action if that is what it will take.   Someone that can persuade the people in government to do the right thing if some unimaginable choice must be made.

We need to stop pretending we’re defenseless.

You left out Trump loses, but resigns on the morning of January 20, and President Pence pardons he and his entire family of any wrongdoings, past present or future.

No. If you support the current GOP, then you are pure scum.

Look, I know it will never happen, but honestly, we are so fucking divided and so stubbornly entrenched in our beliefs that the best possible solution is to divide the United States into a group of 3-4 tightly aligned nations. There are a ton of Trumpkins in California, but the typical Californian has zero in common with the typical Oklahoman. So split and go where your beliefs are.

Let's split up, but stay aligned. These god dammed red states blame minorities and communist socialist hippie libruls for fucking everything. Put your fucking money where your mouth is. Let's see your shit ass state survive without immigrants and blue states propping you up. Go ahead and fucking destroy your land in the name of money. Fuck your environment up and shut your mouth when we want to protect ours. Let's see how far it gets you. I have zero fucking concern about California surviving on its own, and I guarantee multiple western states would beg to be part of the new nation with California.

Someone said it on this thread earlier, but doesn't the rest of the world also have video games?

Japan has some seriously FUCKED UP video games and a culture, I would argue, that has even more isolated internet/computer obsessives/gamers than America does.

Yet they not only have no crazy mass shooters, they have virtually no gun killings at all.

They had that one weirdo who set fire to an anime company that resulted in some deaths.

You can’t eliminate all bad actors but fucking hell, make these assholes work for their body count. Make it hard for them. A good percentage of them won’t make the attempt. And the ones that do can’t kill anywhere near the volume of people that they can now with easily accessible weapons of war.

some enterprising young game programmer come up with a quick demo screen for a video game where Judas Priest fights Ozzie Osbourne.  We've been through all this shit before from Elvis to the Beatles to West Coast Rap to video games to backwards albums to pot to alcohol to soda to emancipation.  It's all bullshit.

Fuck here's an idea...somebody make a 64-bit game (can't be that hard in this day and age).  In the game, people responsibly apply for gun ownership, just take the guns to target ranges and hunting areas, and then afterwards go to school the next day and pray.  You'd make a billion dollars apparently, since every one of these apologists/deniers thinks that's what's missing from our country nowadays.

Just being pedantic... Pretty much everything nowadays is 64bit lol, even the games that look"8 bit". Hell, the phone you're reading this on while taking a shit is 64 bit

Okay, well whatever the old school nintendo was.  I've seen kids program games on that platform for fun.  Anyway, would be fun to spoof all these "video game" callouts by Lt. Gov. Patrick.

No, not at all.  Dan Patrick also said it was because there is no prayer in public schools any longer.

Oh, the President and others have mentioned mental health issues.  So, they've got the holy trinity of A) games & music, B) lack of prayer in schools, and C) mental health issues.

#MAGA motherfuckers!

Fox propaganda has done such a great job at poisoning the minds of millions of Americans. Lost your job? The libs. Trump as President? The Dems. Brown people coming to America? The progressives. White Supremacists lashing out? The Communists.

Shining example of today’s mainstream Republican.

This.  "They say what I'm thinking."

The GOP is -- and we are now officially at a point where this is ZERO hyperbole -- a terrorist organization.  Seriously, if this was a political organization in another country, riling up hate and inspiring lone wolf terrorists to come kill 20 Americans because of who they are, we'd unquestionably brand it as a terrorist organization.

You may be surprised that this is not an original take, and it happens to be correct. I doubt any of our resident Trumpanzees can correctly recite the definition of terrorism, but it fits that chickenshit cult like a glove.

She is the state rep for Middletown -- the southwest Ohio town that's the subject of "Hillbilly Elegy" which was a memoir and social commentary on the broken down culture of the white working class in the region. It made a national brief splash and is going to be made into a movie by Ron Howard.

of course.  and this is precisely why voters need to reject any and all candidates who vow to “work with Republicans” (cough, Biden).   there is no one to work with.  there is nothing to work on.  you don’t “work with” terrorists.  you marginalize them, defeat them, and make it so there is absolutely no place for them in decent, democratic society.  which is how the cancer that is the Republican Party and all of its members should be dealt with.   if any of them want to do the right thing and openly and loudly reject and denounce Trump and the R brand and jump ship, great, kudos to them.  until then, they need to be treated like and dealt with as the traitors and supporters of racism and domestic terrorism that they are.

This sounds exactly like the shit Newt Gingrich preached that got us into this mess.  I get it.  Today’s GOP is a clusterfuck of bullshit and hatred.  But the worst thing for this country long term would be for both sides to take the position that the other side is the irredeemably evil Other.  The GOP has already done that.  Let them choke on that mistake.

Democrats are the only hope to save this county, and maintaining their moral high ground as the rational, civilized party is a recipe for widespread electoral success.  2018 showed that centrists bailed the GOP for the Dems.  The party should continue to denounce hateful, evil policies and rhetoric from the right while steadfastly maintaining its commitment to working with anyone willing to help solve America’s woes, regardless of party affiliation.
