Went to see the Minions with the kiddos in the am.
Theater had Jaws in 3D last night which I wanted to see but I got outvoted and saw the Elvis movie.  I liked it a lot.

Thinking of hitting up Jaws again tomorrow to check out the 3D. LOL at the young lady sitting in front of me seeing it for the first time, her reactions to Hooper’s and Quint’s attacks were hilarious.

Watched it Friday evening after I got back from the beach. Seeing it in 3D was pretty cool. Such a great movie from start to finish and I am glad I decided to watch it again because that is a timeless movie that has aged exceptionally well. Roy Scheider actually has a small nameplate plaque on the wall where I work because he was a regular there many years ago.

Relevant to the French Connection discussion above, The Wages of Fear.

The first action movie?  Decent, a bit plodding and navel-gazing and somewhat unrealistic, but I think the first of its type.

Further relevant to the French Connection is the Friedkin remake, Sorcerer.

It has pretty good reviews, but I wonder if I should watch it close on the heels of Wages.

I've only seen Sorcerer once, many years ago.  Need to see it again.  Was wallowing in my netflix queue so moved it up.

Bullitt. For about the 50th time. A fantastic detective movie to go with the car chase. The scenes of 1967 San Francisco are fascinating and it must have been such a cool place back then vs the shitshow it is now, or even what it was when we lived there in the late 90’s.

Man I loved "The Deep".  Great fight scene with muscle black guy v. muscle white guy.

(No homo in regard to either muscle or "the Deep".).

But that Eel, though.

The Duke (2020)

I really liked this, but it is kind of an "old folks" charming little gem.  A tad too sweet but if you buy into it it really works.

Perfect for if you're killing time with the old folks and there is nothing else to watch.

Jim Broadbent in this and Ciaran Hinds' character in Belfast - two guys I want to be like as I grow into the mantel of grandfatherly.

I miss Kevin Kline

I miss Jamie Lee's cute little ass and the c-c-c-comedy of C-c-c-carl (Michael Palin), and John Cleese as the uptight barrister. We need more like AFCW.

Ode to Billy Joe… damn good movie, great performances all around.

Underrated. Love low budget Southern movies.

Small Engine Repair

Dramas usually aren't my thing but the cast drew me in. The chemistry between the actors was incredible.

The best summary is a dysfunctional family/friends come together over a common love.

An emotional roller coaster to say the least.

Wind (1992) Matthew Modine, pre-nosejob Jennifer Grey and a young(ish) Stellan Skarsgård . Fake story of the US losing the America's Cup and winning it back with a 4-some of low budget, scrappy, sexual tensioned yutes. Not horrible.

Postcards from the Edge.  Shirley McClain and Meryl at the absolute top of their games.  I really enjoyed it, but Meryl Streep can not dance. At all.

I think Carrie Fisher would have found it darkly hilarious that Debbie Reynolds died literally the day after her.  Couldn’t even give her a day to herself in the spotlight.

The Road Home. I think I had to pay three bucks on prime. Chinese subtitles. They beat you to death the first 10 minutes with how much the girl wants the boy to notice her, but it settles in to something worth watching.

If you like horrible shitty random horror movies then I got one for you.

Countdown on Netflix. About an app that counts down peoples death. Has demons and shit. No tits somehow. Tom segura is in it is the only reason i watched it and he may be in it for like 3 mins lol.

Pearl. Not as great as X, but still pretty good. Mia Goth was terrific.
