bumping for The Edge.  Man, goddamn I love this movie.  Anthony Hopkins, Alec Baldwin, Alaskan wilderness, betrayal, a big fucking bear.

Hard to beat.

Wtf buddy. At no point in this post do you mention that Elle Macpherson is in this film.

Wife and I just saw A Real Pain at Alamo. I enjoyed it quite a bit even though Eisenberg has annoyed me in the past. I’m not sure how much he and Culkin were acting in this vs being their actual selves. Well done movie.

Out Of Sight. Haven’t seen it since it was in the theater. Entertaining; prime Clooney and Zahn, and definitely had the Elmore Leonard feel. And goddamn, 20-something J-Lo in tight outfits….

On an IFC movie binge....been recording them. In the past few days watched all these that I haven't seen since probably the years they came out

The Wizard
Armed and Dangerous
Weekend at Bernies
Don't Tell Mom The Babysitters Dead

Deadpool Wolverine.

Felt more like a long SNL skit than a movie. Few fun fights scenes but felt like a fan service money grab. Which is fine. Was entertained.

Caught a good chunk of Exorcist III this morning, a good movie totally ruined by the half assed exorcism scene they threw in at the end.  I don't recall how the story ends in the book. Taps was on the other night but was too late for me to stay up and watch all of it.

The New Yorker had a documentary short nominated at the Oscar's this year so I've been following their channel. They posted this documentary recently about a 99 year old lawyer trying his final case

The Great Gatsby. Not sure how I never saw this as it came out during the time I was watching all the big commercial success movies (2010-2015), but caught it the other day.

Interesting interpretation to modernize a 1920's staple. I hadn't read the book in over 30 years so honestly couldn't tell how faithful the adaption was plot-wise, but I remember not loving the book and thus, didn't love the movie. But it was good.

Exorcist III has always been a lowkey favorite of mine. I took my kid to see this at Texas Theater a few years ago (her first time seeing it) and it was terrifying in the theater.

“Crock of Gold: A few rounds with Shane MacGowan”

on Prime. If you ever liked “The Pogues” it is a good yet tough watch as you see just how much alcohol and drugs completely fucked Shane up.

Best thing I can say is it wasn’t as bad as I expected.

Took the kids to see it. Felt like a lower tier marvel/DC movie meets Christmas. 6/10 for me.

A pretty decent remake of the classic Philadelphia Story, with the lovely Grace Kelly.

It’s kind of funny though that the opening aerial scene is Newport, Rhode Island and then the first scene is Louis Armstrong and his band getting off a bus at the house later occupied by the Clampetts.

Watched Conclave and Heretic tonight.

Conclave is really good Oscar bait with amazing acting all around but isn’t quite the masterpiece I’ve heard it was. Still a great thriller and worth seeing.

Heretic took a bit to get going but I really enjoyed it overall. If you like religious horror you will love this. Hugh Grant was great.

I just watched this last night. Acting was great, of course - the casting was impeccable. About the ending, though:

Spoiler

So the big reveal was just that Benitez is intersex? That's it? The way they marketed it ("secrets which could shake the foundations of the Church") I was halfway expecting the secret to be that all popes are aliens or something. Once they mentioned the clinic, I thought he'd end up being trans, but it's not even that. The whole thing just felt gimmicky.

The height of the 1970s. Evel Knievel battles a crooked promotor, drug smugglers, the young, 34-years old, and beautiful Lauren Hutton and provides life lessons for orphans!

An amazing cast of characters and slice of America, in 1977.

Just watched it and agree 100%. I was actually a little let down by the ending.

The 6 Triple 8, glad to learn of this great legacy and accomplishment for the first time. I am admittedly terrible with history. Kerry Washington was amazing, wished they had brought a few other talents into the movie to help carry some of the scenes.

I thought it was a good popcorn flick, and it surpassed my low expectations. Good "just go with it" Christmas movie

Saw her on Seth Meyers promoting it. The story is amazing. The story of her getting the role is pretty cool.

Just saw A Complete Unknown. It was good and followed the book pretty closely. Chalamet was great as Bob.

Agreed. Good flick.

Somehow I think Joan Baez probably had a better ass in this movie than she did in real life.

Timothy Chalamet was excellent as Dylan, but Edward Norton as Seeger was equally impressive.  Both should receive Oscar nominations imho.

Plus one from me. I’m not a Dylan superfan and only knew the basic outline of his career but this was very well done and Chalamet was very impressive. Boyd Holbrook did a nice turn as Johnny Cash in a small role, but he maximized his minutes.
