Bet on himself and it was a bad decision. Could’ve came back, got a degree from Texas and put up big numbers. Even if he didn’t catch on somewhere next year you leave yourself in a much better position in life. I really don’t get some of these guys decision.

What kind of degree was he working on and what would've it gotten him?

Let's be honest with ourselves 90% of these dudes are here to play ball, not school

Physical culture and sports. Likely to be a coach or at least stay involved with athletics in some way. Nothing wrong with that. Just had to stick it out one more year. Blink of an eye in terms of his life.

Except you wouldn't need a degree to be a coach/involved in athletics, or -- what many ex athletes end up doing -- selling real estate.

These guys all make a living off their name.  They don't need a degree, unlike the rest of us untalented slobs

Maybe he’ll make a practice squad, but practice squad guys are expected to bring it in practice. Also practice squads change from week to week. Tough spot to be in

that girl isn’t settling for practice squad money.

Pretty sure you do need a degree to be a coach. Either way, he made a mistake.

He has/had a much greater chance of long term employment in coaching sports or PE with a bachelors degree. Not sure what kind of coin coaching “camps” will really bring in, and in 5 years no MS or HS kids will remember who he is to pay $500 for a weeklong camp.

Hopefully he lands somewhere, and either way tries to improve himself and stick in 2020. But beyond that, maybe Coach Herman will pass a hat to pay for his last couple semesters to finish his degree? Well, probably shouldn’t have dropped neg tweets about UT....

Ugh.  Man I wish he would've stayed for not only us but, quite obviously and as many, many feared, for himself.  I wish him the best but I have to wonder/fear about the crushing amount of regret he must feel right now.  Damn.

shiiiit, that would sweet to buy a new truck from LJH.  you could talk to him about that 2018 season and how good it was.

But but but i was told my surly that if he came back, he would have had nothing to improve upon... that his stock was already at an all time high

lol, he kwame cavil’d his ass. He comes back, and we likely make the playoff this year and he actually gets drafted

This is what happens when you think you know better than the people advise on draft stock for a living.

Rule of thumb...if you're not going to be a lock for rounds 1 thru 3, it's best to stay in school.

It's sad, because he cost himself a lot of money by thinking he was better than he was.

I have no problem with any kid taking a shot at the league. Just make damn sure you bust your ass and comes out in the best shape of your life. Once in training camp treat it like the last day of your career.

But if you don’t plan on doing any of that stay in school. Too many resources out there that can tell you what happens if you take things too lightly. If you’re making adult decisions then act like an adult.

with the new thing called the internet, why are apartment locators still a thing? I used one back in 1993 but things have changed.

re LJH -- what would 1 extra yr at UT done for him? He'd still be slow right?

At the very least it would have at least given him a chance to put up more highlight-reel footage for NFL scouts to use. Plus if we have a particularly good year (CCG and playoffs), he would be on an even bigger stage and even more top of mind to scouts.

I have some friends who do it and there are always high maintenance people who want the moon for nothing and can't understand why they can't have it. Then there are people moving into town whi want someone local to help them find a place and not everything pops up in an internet search. And there are people who don't want to make twenty phone calls (and talk to people) or send emails (that end up getting spam for months) just to find out something that isn't on the website like cost of rent, pet policies, etc. They talk to one person and let them do all the legwork.

You dumb asses kill me talking about he should have stayed for his degree. Unless you're going into a high demand medical, technological, or sciences field that degree isn't going to mean shit. Any of you see this guy doing that? Yeah, let's welcome our new clinical pathologist, Dr. Lil'Jordan.

Get fucking real. A guy who can't even put forth max effort doing the one thing he's great at and has an aptitude for is all of a sudden going to get a degree in an in demand field and actually bust his ass to make it work?

The reason he should have stayed is not for some degree that he'll never get any use out of. The only reason for him to stay would be to make himself and even bigger legend in the eyes of the rich white assholes who live vicariously through him every Saturday. That way even if his NFL dream dies he'll have these people bending over backwards to take care of him like VY does.

Well we know he doesn’t put the legwork in. So, that idea is out.

This is stupid fucking take. LJ is not fucking Vince nobody is going to take care of him other than maybe kicking him a low level salesmen position. By not getting a degree lots of doors have been shut, teaching health and coaching JV football in kerrville for 60k is better than that.

You're a stupid fucking cunt. If he comes back and they win the title he damn well could get taken care of. Even if they don't and just win the big 12 with a shot at the playoff he could.

No junior high coach in kerrville or anywhere else is making 60k. Not even close. Plus in Texas coaches have to teach. You see this guy being a teacher?

He's a kid who's mom took favors in return for his playing for SLC. He parlayed that into a scholarship to play at UT and did well enough to get an NFL shot. He didn't go to play school and a degree wasn't going to do shit for that kid. Just the way it is. He's no Jaylon Smith.

Oh wait.   Hope he slaps the fuck out of whoever was in his ear to leave early.

Lesson learned for other players.

Kids with their eyes set on the NFL will never learn. A lot do come back for their degree, but when you're really good at a major college, you think you can just waltz in the NFL. A lot of young men get humbled quickly, and hopefully LJH did.

You don't need a degree to make good money. But it's hard to make good money without a degree if you're lazy too. Even selling drugs requires some effort.

Hope he makes the most of his practice squad opportunity.

his employability isn't going to hinge on whether or not he has a bachelors in "physical culture and sports".

myron rolle the guy is not.

Some jobs have a bachelors degree as a requirement. Even if that degree is unrelated to the job itself.

Practice squad salary is still better than any job he could have gotten with an undergrad degree as his only qualification.

and the silver lining is that if you can land on a practice squad you’re set for life!

what's the rule about practice squad players regarding getting pulled up to the roster? Can it be instant for any game, then sent down (sort of NBA-D League) ?

Think if you get called up from the practice squad, you get a minimum of 3 games paid as regular roster player.

How often is peeing in a cup actually related to the job?

I just read an article from 2011, but not all teams do test practice squad players. It depends on the team. New England, Green Bay, Chicago, Baltimore, and Minnesota do, apparently. Couldn't find anything about other teams.

Maybe some variant of Kopi luwak coffee or fetish barista gig?
