Paul Gosar is not their standard

On September 2015, Gosar submitted articles of impeachment against EPA administrator Gina McCarthy, asserting that she had committed "high crimes and misdemeanors:" and "lied to the American people in order to force misguided and overreaching regulations, which have no scientific basis, down our throats."[24] An EPA spokeswoman said Gosar's resolution "has zero merit and is nothing more than political theater" while fellow Republican and House majority leader, Kevin McCarthy confirmed that "There's no plan to impeach Gina McCarthy."[25]

On September 17, 2015, in an op-ed on the conservative website Townhall.com, Gosar announced that he would not attend Pope Francis' planned address to a joint meeting of Congress, unless the Pope spoke about issues such as "violent Islam" or Planned Parenthood, instead of climate change. Gosar wrote that he would treat the Pope the same way he believes "leftist politicians" should be treated.[26] Gosar accused Francis of having "adopted all of the socialist talking points, wrapped false science and ideology into 'climate justice' and is being presented to guilt people into leftist policies."

In October 2017, Gosar promoted the theory that the Unite the Right rally, that occurred earlier that year was a left-wing plot to stoke racial discord and to undermine President Donald Trump.[31] Gosar's statements echoed claims that were circulating among the right-of-center and promoted by Alex Jones of Infowars.[31] Gosar further believes the Charlottesville rally may have been funded by George Soros, who Gosar said "turned in his own people to the Nazis" despite being 13 years old in 1944

The video has been deleted but I have screenshots.  You still need a hosting service to post them, right?

The video depicts a small, lightsabre wielding fly-like person attacking giant AOC and Biden. Kills AOC, then in the process of attacking the President.

They aren't lightsabers if I recall - swords - it's from Attack on Titan or whatever, some popular anime.

And it's not deleted now, just has a warning.

Kathy Griffin's life and livelihood was ruined over this. She had the feds after her for years. Literally nothing will come of this for Paul.

sad that the only comp here is a comedian, not like, you know, a co-worker.

there was a time not long ago when athletes or actors would overstep and try to get political.  people would say they had no qualifications or background so their opinion shouldn't be taken seriously.  now that we have certifiably insane know-nothing loudmouth dipshits getting elected, all bets are off.

i would say that the bar has been lowered, but there is no bar.

Hey, Ted Cruz is Ivy League-educated, why wouldn't you take medical advice from him!

Ummmm......their constituents love it.  The "freedom caucus" is not an outlier.  It is the heart and soul of the modern GQP.  These elected officials aren't an anomaly -- they are the id of the entire party.  The GQP is PROUD of them.  There are only two types of GQP officials left -- the nutbars who say and do insane shit, and the rest of them who really want to, but haven't mustered the courage to do so.

I wish you weren't right but you are. I wish that there was more civility in politics as there once was. But those times are long gone. The GQP is the most dangerous thing I have ever seen.

You may think that all Republicans are publicly insane, or want to be publicly insane, but the actual powers-that-be care more about winning and the flow of money than anything else, and 4 straight years of losing after having had it all in 2016 will make them shift course really fast, because that corporate money will start flowing to more Democrats if the Rs keep up the losing.

They may not rush to embrace Liz Cheney, but they sure as shit aren't going to let Trump/Gaetz/MTG/Lauren Boebert/etc. be the face of anything, and arguably, they already are ditching the Trump GQP to an extent - look at politicians who won by trying to distance themselves from him earlier this month. Look at those who lose by attaching themselves to him.

Trump is actively trying to funnel money away from the GOP as well, and that is not missed by the leadership.  Trying to take what they view as their money, plus costing them both chambers and the WH, has not left them a bunch of happy campers.  The revelations about Trump wanting to bail on the GOP and the GOP telling him to pound sand and that they would withhold his access to the various donor lists, etc. spoke volumes about where things stand.

The GOP didn't win as bigly as they needed to earlier this month, and a few of the standout races showed that Rs can win without Trump all comes at a time that Trump is proving to be a liability.

And there is always the threat of Trump still going scorched earth on The GOP.  Our dumbass governor is showing that he's scared shitless over the thought of losing Trump's support.

You can’t win a R primary without Trump’s support.

You may not be able to win a general election with Trump's support.

That's where things are headed.  And keep in mind that we now know why Don Jr. was furious with the GOP after the election.  The Trumps are pissed at the GOP leadership and the GOP leadership are pissed at them.

And here we are in November, and Trump still hasn't built the fundraising and social media infrastructure he needs to completely divorce himself from the GOP.  Launching a few PACs isn't enough, nor is giving a speech in a fucking cow pasture.

Really depends on the midterms.  If the Dems hold the House and Senate, what you've said will've been true.  But I believe the Dems are going to get crushed and they'll get crushed by dotard backed candidates.

Only then will we know if we're truly fucked.

Paul Gosar is a Sumerian shape-shifting god of destruction also known as Gosar the Goserian, Gozer the Destructor, Volguus Zildrohar, Gozer the Traveler and Lord of the Sebouillia. Gosar gains entry to worlds via a ritual performed by two demi-god minions: Vinz Clortho the Keymaster and Zuul the Gatekeeper.

You have more fun as a follower. But you make more money as a leader.

What formermav43 said.  Trump still doesn't control the GOP's financial apparatus, and he clearly thinks he deserves too (the GOP is only successful because of him).  Those are the crown jewels as far as he's concerned - it's one thing for him to give out endorsements, but another if the money flowing into the GOP was controlled by him - he could truly play kingmaker.  You just think Republicans kowtow to him now, just imagine if he could have some control over the fundraising.

And if the reports are right, Ronna McDaniel was holding out the fundraising part over Trump to keep him from leaving the GOP, which had to have royally pissed him off.

Your recent takes are wishful thinking. The GOP is not moderating. It (and its propaganda apparatus) has doubled down on a fascist strategy.

Agree they are doubling down, but they hit their ceiling with Trump on the ticket or out campaigning and they still couldn't hold the House, Senate, and White House between 2018 and 2020.

There is also nothing they are doing to bring in moderates/independents.

They are ultimately relying on the Democrats being their usual incompetent selves.  A few more Stacey Abrams types who have their shit together and the GOP would be in a world of shit.
