This type of situation is where the four game redshirt rule is really helpful. I would imagine we will see Chislom and Christmas before Coburn, but all three of those guys were headed for RS status so the ability to play them in this spot is immensely helpful. Might see some of Graham too - he has seen snaps at nose.

This is an opportunity for one of these young men to make a name for himself.

I bet if we roll out a Graham - Omenihu - Hager line, plugging in WIlbon and Christmas inside, we'll be okay. Omenihu's length could be disruptive if he can get his hands in Grier's face. But yeah, this sucks. Hoping to see some Coburn.

One last belly rub last night for the big man as a college player. Anchored the defense all year long. Thank goodness he didn’t transfer. Hope he gets a chance to play next year.

I love linemen that embrace the nasty. To paraphrase GS Hartman, "It is a hard heart that kills.".

It's a thankless position where you live in the weight room preseason, and on the trainer's table during it. The only way you can endure it is if you honestly enjoy slamming people into the ground. The thought of someone pushing you over has to infuriate you.

Connor Williams and Poona Ford had it. It's been too long and too far between at Texas over the last decade.

Nelson was great development by Giles.  He has a lot of raw tools and pretty athletic for his size.  Giles and Yancy got very good production out of him.  He's definitely going to play in the league and he's only going to get better.

Eyes of Texas.... Scouts comments Texas Pro Day

DT Chris Nelson

“Nelson is a rollie-pollie nose tackle who popped through the bags pretty good today. His measurables aren’t ideal, which means he could go undrafted. But he’ll go to camp with someone, because he’s a smart football player and a captain, and those things typically mean he has a chance to make a roster or practice squad.”
