Terrified of Donuts, Dunkin' changes their name to.... Dunkin'

OK, OK , so MAYBE they aren't terrified of donuts....

But still, its an odd fucking decision by the company to drop the "Donuts" off the corporate name.

Reminds me of the idiocy of IHOP trying to be smartasses and do a marketing campaign around changing their name.... who knows, maybe thats what this is.

Dunkin' is dropping the donuts — from its name, anyway.

Doughnuts are still on the menu, but the company is renaming itself "Dunkin'" to reflect its increasing emphasis on coffee and other drinks.

The change will officially take place in January, when the new name will start appearing on napkins, boxes, and signs at its U.S. stores. The name change will eventually be adopted by international stores.

The 68-year-old chain says its new logo will still have the familiar rounded font and orange-and-pink color scheme that the company has used since 1973.

Canton, Massachusetts-based Dunkin' says the name change is one of several things it's doing to stay relevant to younger customers. It's also simplifying its menu and adding dedicated mobile ordering lanes.

Dunkin' has more than 12,500 restaurants globally.

I've only been in one dunkin donuts in my life, but haven't they've become more known for their coffee and such?  I don't recall ever seeing a box of donuts from dunkin donuts.  Not really a coffee or donut fan so this does not hit close to home at all.

I'm sure this happened because the I went into Dunkin Donuts about a month ago to grab some donuts and they were sold out.  I shook my head wondering aloud why they called themselves a Donut Shop if they were out of the thing they were in business for.  They must have taken my comments straight to upper management.

The coffee at Dunkin may be the most overrated shit on earth.

Was just going to post that. It's not piss, you can drink it, but that's about it. Still better than starbucks.

When I was young I could kill one of those munchkin buckets/baskets......

I also liked their blueberry and the apple spice style.  Never was a fan of plain glazed or frosted so the Krispy Kremes of the world didn't do it for me.

I liked the cake style Dunkin Donuts  had.

Haven't been to one in years.....may need to revisit and see if they still rock those little donut holes.
