Another WR spot opened up for Bru at USC.....

Sophomore wide receiver Randal Grimes to transfer from USC

On Friday, second year receiver Randal Grimes announced via Twitter that he would be transferring from the USC football program.

By dinacolunga@alwayscompete  Dec 9, 2018, 12:48pm PST
Grimes is the third Trojan to transfer in 2018, after Ykili Ross, Je’Quari Godfrey, and Bubba Bolden. A sophomore wide receiver, Grimes served as a backup in 2017 and 2018. He played in six total games, which burned his opportunity at a redshirt last year. Grimes missed a portion of spring camp this season to focus his attention to academics, and missed a few in-season practices for reasons never announced.

Hailing from Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 6-foot-5 Grimes was a three-star athlete with offers from schools such as BYU, Cal, Nebraska, and UNLV. He was the No. 7 recruit in the state of Nevada and the No. 23 athlete in the class of 2017. Though he has yet to comment on which schools are on his short list, it is likely he may chose his hometown team the UNLV Rebels.

RB Derrick Clark will be graduate-transferring after finishing his degree in the spring. In the 2018 season, Clark rushed twice for six yards; his most productive year as a Bear was 2017, when he ran the ball 14 times for 46 yards

Interesting no mention of Texas here...... Auburn TE Jalen Harris transferring.  Obviously  Coach Hand is familiar with this player.

https://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/12/12/auburn-transfer-te-jalen-harris-lists-georgia-colorado-among-five-potential-landing-spots/

"In mid-September, Harris announced that he would be transferring from Auburn.  On Twitter Tuesday, the tight end revealed his list of five finalists that will serve as possible transfer destinations, including a pair of SEC schools in Georgia and Vanderbilt.

The other three schools include a pair of Power Five programs (Colorado, Kansas State) as well as one from the Group of Five (Troy)."

There are a lot of grad transfer OL available. Justin Murphy just announced he's grad transferring from UCLA.

Texas will land somebody if they are really searching for a grad transfer on the OL.

Former Tech Lineman and transferring......  Wonder if Justin Murphy is considering going to North Carolina??

Our needs were much more dire last cycle, and we still only landed one grad transfer who was probably a slam dunk to come to Texas. I trust the staff to address the OL depth deficiency, but we need to be realistic in what is attainable.

"Realistic" is probably the last word I would use to describe the recruiting board.

I don't think the fumbles are the whole story.

Footwork King tweeted something about not bitching when you cant hold on to the ball and a freshman comes in and takes your job.this was supposed to be refering to Toenail. dude has been an attitude problem behind the scenes.

SIAP.... At least 2 possible Longhorns who could grad-transfer...

"Junior Kyle Porter elected to redshirt after playing in UT's first four games and hasn't dressed out for UT's last nine games, preserving two more years of eligibility in the likelihood he moves on as a graduate transfer. Porter came into this season with 118 carries for 436 yards (3.7 ypc) and four rushing TDs as well as seven receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown.  Tristian Houston, a fourth-year junior who is on pace to graduate in May after three career rushing attempts for 3 yards back in 2016."

Here is a bit of film I put together on James Gilbert vs Notre Dame. He finished with 78 yards rushing.

Althought the best defense he faced was NIU who is number 6 in the nation vs the run. He has 79 yards vs them averaging 4.2 yards per carry. His offensive line was hot garbage on the inside all year.

I'm picking up what you're putting down.

I wasn't aware this could be done. The bowl game is more than a year later from their transfer date, I assume. So they can play in the bowl, and still have two years of eligibility left.

Guess they lose the right for a different Redshirt year if they play in the Bowl Game...... 2018 counts as both their Redshirt year and transfer year??

You can redshirt and still play in 4 games. So even though they're transfers, that new rule (plus the 1 year rule for transfers) allows them to play and maintain the redshirt.

Something neat to keep in mind if we ever get a transfer that has to sit for a year.
