George Thorogood’s cover of ‘Who Do You Love’ came on KXT and got me thinking about making a mix tape of commercially popular badass blues based rock songs - stuff he has probably heard before but not necessarily the iconic Led Zeppelin stuff.

...the kind of numbers that might cause him to accidentally punch a hole in his wall while he is supposed to be picking up his room.

George Thorogood - ‘Who Do You Love’

The Guess Who - ‘ American Woman’

 ZZ Top - ‘La Grange’

I also highly recommend the documentary 'Beware of Mr. Baker'. Kind of sloppily put together, but when you are dealing with an elite rage-r...

Black Crowes (take your pick, but I'd go with My Morning Song, Twice as Hard, or Thorn in my Pride)

The Animals w/ Eric Burdon - again, take your pic. I'd go with It's My Life or the Story of Bo Diddley. Great singing mixed with spoken word ballad.

Really deep track, but it fuckin rocks.

Just thought of another one - Grateful Dead, from the Pigpen era.

Easy Wind, Turn on Your Lovelight, New Speedway Boogie, New New Minglewood Blues, One More Saturday Night....man there's a million of covers and traditional arrangements that are all blues based.

Yeah totally missed Are You Gonna Go My Way and Radar Love. Might have to rethink things. Shorter than most mixes, but it's so straight forward high energy and the now 11 yr old has a short attention span.

First Draft

01 Money For Nothing (album version) - Dire Straits

02 Who Do You Love - George Thorogood

03 La Grange - ZZ Top

04 Spirit In The Sky - Norman Geenbaum

05 Sunshine Of Your Love - Cream

06 American Woman (long intro) - The Guess Who

07 Black Betty - Ram Jam

08 Bring It On Home - Led Zeppelin

Secret Song  - The Last Of The Steam Powered Trains - The Kinks
