Featured Replies

#1

Anyone have a list? This has to be recorded so when shit his the fan and people try to hide/disavow that they enabled this, we can show otherwise

ill start:

Michael Dell

Chris Pratt

Quinn Ewers

Snoop Dogg

#3

Jericho is absolutely on the list and his wife was likely at Jan 6th

#4

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, right? I seem to recall them getting a lot of liberal flak. Sydney Sweeney too?

I don't really think of someone like Michael Dell, Elon Musk or Peter Thiel as MAGA. They are so wealthy, so ensconced in the privilege of that wealth that they don't have to be particularly supportive to have a seat at the table.

Dell, in particular, doesn't seem to stand for anything aside from rich people priorities.

Who can forget KEVIN SORBO!!!!111

Saw a video Dell putzing around Davos this morning, so yea, checks out completely.

I assume Ewers is and remains a maga dipshit but I also have some latitude for 20 year olds and dumbass opinions.

What's the difference between being MAGA and sitting at the table with them, when the outcome is functionally the same?

Rich people priorities, at the expense of not-rich people, is basically a core principle of MAGA.

Don’t let them convince you that they should somehow be excluded from the conversation.

Jesus, if you arent denouncing MAGA (especially if you are in bed with them a la Musk, Dell, etc), you’re MAGA

I read his response as a way trying to be more intentional and definitive of MAGA as a political and social movement. I think what he's saying is that billionaire's generally and people like Musk and Dell specifically aren't putting on a red hat and buying into political party lines and carrying water for anyone (Trump) but themselves. Just because that makes them a MAGA ally today doesn't mean they are copacetic and true believers of MAGA. If Trump tomorrow kept the anti-immigration and ICE stuff and hateful rhetoric towards marginalized people, etc. but took a Mamdani turn and declared billionaires the enemy, they'd be off that wagon faster than the billionaires yapping about leaving California over a one time wealth tax.

Bullshit, especially about Musk who was his biggest donor in 2024 and proudly wore all kinds of maga gear. Also, authoritarian movements gain life not just from their most ardent followers but also from the people that normalize them and cooperate.

Musk for sure being an outlier. I wouldn't get distracted and get fixated on him (it's what he wants). I'm talking about the Davos jet setting bankers and businessman. The majority of the billionaires like the Larry Fink's and Michael Dell's of the world.

#18

honestly i dont think Snoop is really either...i think him playing the ball was a transactional trade for the Michael Harris pardon. he's also claimed he's never even voted lol. anyways...fuck him for being bought so easily.

And if my aunt grew wheels tomorrow she’d be a bicycle.

Going along with all of this shit for purely financial reasons makes them even more evil in my book than the flag waving true believers.

The MAGA coalition is your standard right wing loons combined with the rich asshats who treat Trump as a useful idiot. They are both equally vital to the success of the movement, and one group doesn’t get a pass just because they don’t write the n-word on Facebook.

Agree to disagree then. I don't want to sound conspiratorial because none if this is behind closed doors, but I see anything that wealthy elites do that's aligned with MAGA is purely transactional.

The real heart of MAGA is the terminally online, the Fox news viewer, the attendee of the conventions, and anyone who thinks Mike Lindell is sane (i.e., they actually believe all the bullshit). I know Musk checks some of those boxes but I think he's a really good example of someone that was seen as Democratic friendly not that long ago and would be welcomed back by certain groups (particularly environmental, imo) if shared interests re-aligned.

Bear in mind I'm not trying to let rich elites off the hook. I think they are even more craven as they have no conviction beside their present wealth isn't enough (which is where they find common cause in Mammon worshiper Trump).

That said, I'm reminded of the Michael Clayton line "I sold out Arthur for 80 grand. I'm your easiest problem and you're going to kill me?" Once you acknowledge that even the rich are for sale, then it's not an ideological argument, it's how much does it cost to keep them out of politics.

Yeah I think we should save a list like this for people who matter, who have power.

Not just every random dumbass celebrity.

I got fixated on Musk because you mentioned Musk in your post. The rest of you what you've said is still bullshit.

#23

Yeah I need more evidence about Snoop Dogg.

Nelly and Ludacris however are doing the same MAGA music festival as Kid Rock, which is a choice.

You'll find very few people who have any patience for this devil's advocate bullshit.

The transaction is the point. They pay to support an entity seeking to undermine the Republic. What they get back is mildly relevant, but the damage they do through the transaction is the point of counting them as MAGA.

The heart, I suppose, is as you state. However, it's my understanding that funding is the main engine of politics. Fueling the MAGA movement is far more impactful than showing up in the red hats and yelling.

The billionaires couldn't benefit more from any other movement and pretty clearly embrace the coming fascism as evidenced by the campaign to control the Supreme Court and support the GOP lie about being conservative. They're anti-democratic. I don't see how it could be any plainer than by simply observing actions and outcomes.

There shouldn't even be any billionaires. That's too much power.

There isn't a price high enough to keep them out, at least not when it comes to politics improving the lives of the people.

Sign of the times, for sure. I sympathize and will bite my tongue more as truly no offense or agenda is ever meant. It's just interesting to discuss all facets of alll manner of topics in impersonal ways IMO and discussion boards are (or used to be) fertile for such discussions. I'm an old man now.

On a lower but still wealthy level, these are are the people that we associate with or friends. "Cultured" and generally kind individuals that live big city life, have gay friends, have been around all types of people. But they are Trump apologists strictly because of their money.

IMO, these are the greatest offenders in the Trump voting bloc. Because others look up to them professionally and it validates the MAGA movement. These people are the first group that deserve to be shamed, as they should absolutely know better compared to rural voters who are struggling financially.

I'm thinking about this more as a political scientist would. The rich elites aren't true believers, they wouldn't break bread with the attendees at a Trump convention and they aren't animated by the showtime aspects of it. Whatever, it's a big tent.

As you said, the clearest solution is that we should have an agreement that no one needs to be that wealthy. I think we need a social compact that you forego wealth if you want to play politics or religion and the tax code needs to enforce it.*

*admittedly we had one, or at least paid respect to the concept.

This isn't the "let's shit on the Democrats thread", of which we have a number, but Obama did a pretty decent job of not letting them steer the ship most of the time, and certainly there's more evidence of that in the 20th century.

Honestly Trump could have gone that route if he wasn't a complete fraud. The core of his appeal originated in his willingness to be confrontational against power.

Anyway, sorry to get us off track.

Right, and we got crumbs with Obama. The rich also scuttled the New Deal just as it started to get truly radical. They'll give you a taste, and they realized that even with a crippled New Deal the people were getting a lot more than the rich were comfortable with (oversimplification but they played a large role in revolting). They never let it happen again and have been snatching progress back since.

Ludacris bailed on rock the country once it came out that it was a maga event. They initially said lines got mixed up then a few days later that he hadn't even been booked. He is on record having endorsed Obama for president according to what I read a few days ago.

No clue on Nelly.

Yes and no. There's a reason that Brand titled his biography A Traitor to His Class. It wasn't because the rich loved his New Deal policies as a way to stave off the revolution.
