I’ve never heard a DSA candidate say the government should seize ownership of private business. It’s always tax the billionaires and provide a basic level of livelihood for everyone. That’s called well regulated capitalism. Theo Vonn is actually saying something smart there even though he’s too dumb to see his thought already exists. The current form of American Capitalism is oligarchy. Instead of the government controlling everything a handful of billionaires do, they hoard the profits and pay it to themselves as execs and shareholders. Their share has exploded over the last 50 years while workers’ wages stagnate and everything around them gets more expensive including basic shit like housing, utilities, healthcare, education, and now food. They speak of socialism as a “transfer of wealth” when in fact they’ve done exactly that, transferred it from the working class to themselves. The fact that so many people support it is fucking insane. It’s why they dangle bullshit like gays and trans and wars on Christmas to keep the plebes voting to let the oligarchs rape the bounty of their labor. It’s fucking pathetic.
