When is your next Raw Milk Party?

Good morning to everyone who is not into “Raw Milk Parties.”

During the first few months of Covid, we bought raw milk from a local dairy farm. Not because we wanted raw milk specifically, but because we wanted milk and it wasn’t always on shelves at the store.

Never had any issues, but you really do have to trust their handling procedures and/or accept an increased risk of bacterial infection.

can’t say it ever occurred to me to throw a party, and we never received any evites either.

That's me if I drink any milk that isn't Mootopia (A registered trade mark owned by HEB), almond milk, coconut milk or oat milk.

We used to be part of a raw milk group here in austin. $8.50 a gallon back in 2008. How much is it now?

Agreed with regard to mass consumption and public safety.

See also: growing up on a dairy and then moving "to town" where you had to buy milk at the store, and it was practically like having to put water on your cereal. Raw milk can be great, if handled properly. Never once did it cross our minds to party over it. Those people in the OP are fucked up.

I imagine it's like eating a farm-fresh egg after years of eating store-bought eggs. I used to have a boss who had a farm and who would bring in eggs by the dozens. They were so rich. The first time I ate one, I wasn't expecting it and almost hurled. But I powered through and really appreciated how much better they are.

Man, MAGA, you crazy.

Oh, so that's what this is. As per usual, I was a little too literal about "raw milk." They crazy indeed. Still think Pasteur would have the same reaction.

If you drank raw milk growing up on a dairy farm, I assume you drank it within a few hours of it being collected, before any bacteria had time to grow in the milk?

It's alright, a little creamier than grocery store milk. Not worth it imo. HEB has recently started selling local centex dairy product. We've tried a couple different brands with the fancy glass bottles you get $3 back for returning - it's decent.

It was typically in the tank( refrigerated) until the came to pick it up, every other day, IIRC. I know it was not more often than that.
Then it would be in our fridge for about 48-72 hours at the most. It was a family of 5 with 3 growing boys. Milk didn't exist long enough to go sour. at our house.

The reason I ask is that I have a friend whose family had a jersey cow for milk growing up.

After all this raw milk drama started up I asked him if anyone ever got sick.he said they would drink it straight from the tap, still warm, and give whatever was left over to the hogs.

He said he thinks that they drank it so soon after milking that there wasn't time for any bacteria to grow.
