Dallas hotel recs for business get together

Featured Replies

Having a meeting beginning of March and we usually go to Ft Worth due to central location for attendees. I'm tired of the restaurants in Ft Worth (and I'm tired of going to the Stockyards because someone always wants to go) so I suggested Dallas. But now I have to find the hotel for us to stay in. Any recs? There will be 8-10 of us.

Not looking for Four Seasons here, just a nice place that is in relatively close proximity to good restaurants so we're not Ubering all over the place. Also need a small meeting room we can use for a couple days. We will also need food recs for 2-3 dinners.

I'm old school. Think about Melrose or Stoneleigh P in uptown. They have many meeting options and decent on-site breakfast and lunch for your meetings.

Close to plenty of eats. Bob's, Al Biernat's, Nick and Sam's for steak. Mia's for Tex-Mex. Neighborhood Services and Parigi's are other popular places close by. Good luck.

Yeah, something in Uptown makes sense. You actually can walk to restaurants from there. Stoneleigh, The Crescent. There's a Marriot right next to Nick & Sam's.

Anyone have experience with the Statler? Looks nice and it's close to Uptown, but not in it.

Statler is fine. Hardcore downtown. I don't think much of their in-house dining. Brass Ram and Partenope Ristorante in easy walking distance. No other restaurants around there really do much for me. Plenty of night life on Commerce street.

How far from there to Uptown restaurants? Longer than walking, for sure, but doesn't look like more than a few minutes in the car.

Very close and convenient, other that at peak downtown traffic times. Nice change of pace from Cowtown.

Downtown is deader than disco. Statler is fine. I don’t like much around there. National Anthem is good and I hear Brass Ram is better.

I’d stay in Uptown. Stoneleigh would be great. So would Crescent. Crazy lack of mentions for Uchi, which is right there. Do Las Palmas for Tex Mex. If you want steak, Uber to the OG Bob’s on Lemmon.

Or hop in Uber and head to Design District (short trip) and hit The Charles or Carlos Elegante.

Oh addendum to my response, if needing a steak place consider Al Biernat’s. It’s still an experience and pretty good food.

I hear really good things about Evelyn in the Design District. It ticks all the Dallas stereotype boxes, I think.

I had to pass on a Christmas party at Evelyn this year, but from all reports, a very solid place.

Do you have status or a brand preference?

In addition to the restaurants DatTxHornFan mentioned, also consider Wicked Butcher or Wild Salsa if you stay at The Statler. Decent menu for a small group hanging out. Catch some after-hours rounds at The Crafty Irishman or Bourbon & Banter in The Statler basement and basically never leave the block.

If you walk west a few blocks, The Woolworth is one of the true gems of Downtown. Both for food and drinks. Afterwards, take some pics with The Giant Eyeball, and then bar-hop around there at The Joule, The Mitchell, The Scarlet Pumpernickel or Pegasus City Brewery before crawling back east to The Statler.

Agreed, especially on Woolworth - not a destination place, but really good. Campisi's is downstairs and City Tavern is right down the street on Elm. Maybe y'all could have a good time with no Uber's!

Fun fact is that I "stayed" at that hotel (Statler) for my first Texas/OU weekend. Was locked out until about 5 a.m. due to riot mayhem. Glad that I could shower before the game.

Hey @After irth , did you end up moving to Downtown Dallas?

Mamani is the new hot spot in uptown if you can book a reservation.

Stoneleigh and Warwick are normally where I point people unless they are looking for higher end (Swexan, Crescent, Ritz)

Agree with that. Ritz and Four Seasons beds are not special.

I've done so much business travel over the years that IDGAF about anything other than a quiet room, solid bed, and a good shower.
