Did not see a dedicated thread. Things are not going swell.

Loss of Venezuelan Oil and sanctioning to anyone who provides it are really taking a toll. Today the US Embassy Havana issued a security alert based on the anticipated collapse of the energy sector. We are going to see another round or boat migrants.

The Grass family and several other Cuban migrants attempted to cross the Straits of Florida on July 16, 2003, in a boat fashioned out of a 1951 Chevy pickup, driving it within 40 miles of the United States before they were found by the U.S. Coast Guard and returned to Cuba.

FILE --In this Aug. 26, 1994 file photo, Cuban refugees float in heavy seas 60 miles south of Key... [+] West, Fla. In the 20 years since Fidel Castro set off a high-seas humanitarian crisis by encouraging an exodus of 35,000 islanders, more than 26,000 other Cubans have risked their lives crossing the Florida Straits. Already this year, nearly 3,000 have been picked up by U.S. authorities, on a pace to double last year’s total. Experts say it shows the limits of the “wet-foot, dry-foot” policy that solved the 1994 crisis. (AP Photo/Dave Martin, File)

Honestly, and maybe this is unpopular, but these are the kinds of folks I want coming to America. Gutsy as hell using a fucking farm or delivery truck to cross 90 miles of open water, and the mechanical ingenuity to make said truck into a boat.

Overnight lows yesterday were down to the low 40s. Bet they weren't ready for that.

I talked to my SIL in Coral Gables. She's freezing her tits off. Had to dig though the plastic tubs in the garage to find her ski parka.

What kind of tits are we talking about? Will they be missed?

I think it's more likely you're going to be here to witness those boats blown to hell by US forces for being "drug boats." That's a non-zero chance.

Your best case, considering the current immigration policies in place and the perception, is that these folks will be immediately rounded up and shipped off to a Honduran prison. You think these people are going to be allowed any status in the US right now? Even though the US's direct actions are creating this crisis and migration?
