Thanks for the photos - did the border end of that hike a couple of Aprils ago; the road was there and CBP occasionally drove past; on the other side of the barbed wire fence were a few little ranchos and not much else. At one point a couple of teenagers who had apparently been grocery shopping on the US side jogged by with their bags and a friendly "¡hola!" and hopped the fence. I obviously felt the immense threat to the entire system of Western democracy, tripped them up and fired a flare to catch CBP's attention... no, wait, I didn't do any of that - as is my traitorous way, I just smiled, stepped out of their way with a "buenas tardes" and watched them carry on their way.
