Nice ball placement.

Actually, I'm impressed with his touch and keeping the ball away from defenders.

Pretty smart pick up here. He doesn't wow with his traits, but he's very effective as a QB.

Good looking feet under pressure too, I could see him going the Trey Owens route and getting an opportunity to start for a lower level D1 team after not being able to get on the field here.

I could see him pushing Bell (if he stays) in 2-3 years though

Trey Owens Redux. Makes sense.

Iyo, how does qb recruiting change with NIL?

is this the same kid who was playing LB as well as QB when they beat highland park a couple years ago in the final? or was that a different QB?

Corporate NIL for the starting Texas QB is going to play a big part unless they look like Case McCoy. That’s a pretty big deal that works as a competitive advantage. I think they’ll load up every other year on the HS guy they want with non-corporate, to keep the factory line going, so to speak. If that guy doesn’t work out, and inevitably, some won’t, then they’ll go big in the portal for a year or multiple years, with tangible corporate NIL as part of the sell.

The ability to sell to someone that they can get generational wealth chances going through long term sponsorships with big brands way ahead of the NFL and other guys their age has the chance to be a huge fucking deal. Some of these schools are spending 25-35% of what they can spend on their starting QB, which makes it hard for them to compete at the highest levels.

So basically 5 star, low 4, 5 star , low 4. Etc. makes no sense to pay 7 figures for your third or fourth string qb when money can be allocated elsewhere. Also can hit the portal in a pinch.

Are we... um... taking two this cycle?

Probably not.

It doesn't make to take 2 QBs in 1 h.s. recruiting class in the portal era. Hence why UT hasn't taken 2 QBs in a class since maybe the 2018 class.

Different QB that guy was a stud

Yep, that was Cade Spradling who is now playing at Air Force. Ty did rotate in quite a bit that entire season.

Clint Haney vibes. Smile with his eyes, though.

Best player in SV history is still and always will be Andrew Sendejo.

It’s likely not going to be exactly like the nfl salary cap (your point about RB and LB being more valued in college than the pros is pretty accurate I think) but it’s at least going to rhyme. Typical nfl spend on QB is 20 or 25%, right? If you can pull down 5-10M a year in corporate NIL for your QB and pay them zero that’s as big an advantage as having a decent to really good QB on a rookie deal. Most consider that to be the biggest advantage in all the NFL.

Nope. Tre'Von is the best to come out of SV. Gibbens while not the best did play in the Super Bowl this weekend.

yeah, yeah, fuck off, sendejo.

I'd save that for Eryk Anders a SV grad who was the Alabama linebacker that sacked Gilbert and forcing a fumble when it was 24-21 and resulted in Alabama scoring a touchdown. Launching Alabama into their dynasty and sending us into wandering the dessert for a decade.

Yeah, let me know if Tre’von has a 10 year NFL career.

He'll get there.

yeah. thorpe award, 2nd round pick, all rookie team, averaging 80 tackles/year since he’s been in the league. safe to say he’ll have a better career barring injury.

Yep. I don't even know who in the fuck or what in the fuck these imbeciles are discussing. One thing though - this isn't the end. Knutson's thread will get multiple necro bumps from @texifornia with things like his visit or signing. Then, years from now, someone will bump it when this guy transfers to Texas State or when he's starting for Texas and lighting up the scoreboard, simply to taunt all of us "haters" as if they called it the whole way.

I don't know if this kid will pan out (probably not since Sark will land another five-star next year and there kids usually bail), but he has a great last name for porn.

I do, however, hope he proves me wrong and summons the entity that gave Colt his powers and made Jevan Snead bounce (rest in peace, kid).
