Haven’t seen it anywhere on the site, and sorry if it's somewhere else, but I've seen that the case of his death is being reopened thinking it is now a homicide.

Kurt Cobain's Death Declared A Homicide by Seattle Police...

Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain's 1994 death has been declared a homicide by a Seattle Police captain who was ordered to probe the "botched" investigation in 2005.

I've never understood why it was so hard for people to accept that a chronically depressed heroin addict who had previously tried to commit suicide committed suicide.

Even as a Nirvana-obsessed preteen in the 90's.

So now Surly trusts the cops? No splatter on the shotgun he allegedly used- someone please explain how a tiny little guy with a lethal (for most) dose of heroin in him managed to shoot himself in the face BTW- then Courtney donated it to a charity to be melted down. I'm no lawyer but that sounds a bit like destroying evidence.

Seems pointless. With all the police screwups they aren't going to be able to tie it to her or anyone.

Well, the Austin yogurt shop murders have recently been "solved" (after the legal system ruined the lives of several innocent people).

Don't get me wrong, I believe Cobain committed suicide, especially given his prior attempt, but elapsed time and police screwups aren't necessarily too high a bar to clear.

That's true, and I don't know the protocols and evidence on hand, but in my mind an unsolved murder from the get go probably has different evidence retention than a suicide. Like the poster said above there is no longer even a "murder" weapon.

Hey, if he could write the end of the suicide note in someone else's handwriting that high, I'm sure shooting himself in the face was no problem.

My belief in Cobain’s suicide has nothing to do with what the cops said and everything to do with his obvious suicidal bent.

I don’t know how heroin works (there’s a thread for that) but in my pro drinking days I was closer to sober at .2 than I was at 0.0.
