Ranking college football's top 100 quarterbacks of the 2000s

Make way for Fernando Mendoza and others on Bill Connelly's updated list of the greatest quarterbacks of the century.

Number 1 invalidates the whole list.

I like it:

6. Cade Klunik, Clemson
Years: 2021-25
.Stats: 10,168 passing yards, 67% completion rate, 90 TD, 32 INT, 1,934 rushing yards, 26 TD

While his final season didn't quite equal the previous levels, Klubnik flipped Dabo Swinney's program from good to elite. He averaged 4,351 passing yards and 867 rushing yards in 2023-24, leading the Tigers to the CFP playoff game vs Texas, then setting himself up for possibly being the first QB drafted.

This list is trash. If you didn't win a national title, you can't be #1. That should be the first criterion for #1.

Edit: And a guy with an admitted "Puma addiction" shouldn't write one word about college football, or even Pee Wee League football.

What is this lame shit? Are you stupid or something?

Then he flipped the switch. UT averaged 38 points per game and rolled to a Rose Bowl win to finish 2004, then fielded one of the best teams of our lifetime in 2005, going 13-0 while Young threw for 3,036 yards and rushed for 1,050. The last eight of those rushing yards gave the Horns a last-second win over Matt Leinart and USC in the greatest national title game ever played.

The ball was spotted at the 9 yard line.

I think 99% of SEC reporters would rank Cam over VY. It’s this fucking weird belief system they’ve built up that Cam basically went full Wemby alien on the conference. He played 1, one, uno, season at Auburn.

Baker at 1 is hilarious. I guess the guy can’t be bothered to win a playoff game.

The rest of the list isn’t bad.

If you didn't know who numero uno was before clicking on that then you haven't been paying attention.

Or, you were hopeful VY would dethrone whomever the chosen one is this cycle.

I did not check out the list but I was fairly certain Baker Maywhine or Jesus Tebow would be given the crown, again.

It's never going to be VY.

Besides that theses lists are lame but good for the offseason.

I checked out the list so as I don't look like an ever bigger moron.

#12

Anyone with a fucking brain knows that VY and Tommie Frazier are the best college QBs of the last 4 decades or so.

#13

Also, putting a wee white guy with no rings ahead of two national championship-winning black players seems a little racist.

Or maybe because it's a ranking of individual accomplishments and not team accomplishments. I don't think Mayfield should top this list, but I do know that Bill Connelly is going to put more thought into this piece than just, "The guys with rings go first."

Baker Mayfield?

Baker Mayfield’s Oklahoma career ended with a thrilling 54-48 double-overtime loss to Georgia in the 2018 Rose Bowl (CFP Semifinal) on Jan. 1, 2018. Despite a 31-17 halftime lead and a heroic 23-of-35, 287-yard passing performance, Mayfield's team couldn't hold off the Bulldogs' rushing attack, ending his Heisman-winning season.

I'd think he'd be neck and neck with JFF.

He can't be bothered to win a playoff game because #6 wouldn't let him

Comparisons (clickbait) are odorous.

Opinions are like assholes; everybody has one.

[Number] best [noun] of the [arbitrary time span] = formulaic outline for clickbait article.
