Augusta National reveals lone course change ahead of 2026 Masters

Ahead of the 90th Masters, there is only one major course change, and it comes down the stretch.

On the 17th hole, the front of tee box was reduced by 12 yards. In addition, the tee marker was relocated and Masters scorecard changed to 450 yards.

In 2025, the par-4 hole named Nandina played 440 yards and was the fourth-hardest hole during the Masters, playing to a 4.230 scoring average. McIlroy made birdie on the hole to take a one-stroke lead heading to the 18th before a bogey resulted in he and Justin Rose heading to a playoff.

And we all know how that one turned out.

It's almost time to smell the azaleas, but when it comes to the golf course in 2026, the par-72 layout will play to a length of 7,565 yards.

No Hooters, no problem. Here's where John Daly will be for Masters 2026

17736003797353162988765031190054.jpg

One of the more eclectic traditions of the Masters is going to visit John Daly during his meet-and-greets with fans at Hooters. While the restaurant closed last year, that won't stop Daly from making his annual appearance.

On Thursday, Topgolf announced he will be at its Augusta location, serving as his "19th hole to mix, mingle and keep the party going" according to the press release.

Who is John Daly?

Daly, 59, has been a pro golfer since 1987 and a member of the PGA Tour since 1991, the same year he won the PGA Championship, according to his website. He also won the Open Championship in 1995, the BMW International Open in 2001 and the Insperity Invitational in 2017, according to his PGA profile.

When will John Daly be at Topgolf?

Daly will be at Topgolf in Augusta 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 9 and Friday, April 10.

Topgolf menu

From April 7 to 12, Masters-themed items will be added to Topgolf menus nationwide including pimento cheese dip, BBQ pork sliders, peach ice cream cookie skillet, and an azalea-themed cocktail. They are also all priced between $5 and $7 as a nod to the Masters concession pricing.

"name a better duo, we’ll wait".

Not looking good for Tiger to play in the 2026 Masters...

Tiger Woods Shares Concerning Injury Update Before the Masters

IMG_20260318_155726.jpg

updated Mar 18, 2026 at 02:26 PM EDT

Late last month Tiger Woods hinted at potentially playing the Masters in April when he said, "there is," in response to legendary broadcaster Jim Nantz asking if there was any possibility he'd be able to pursue another Green Jacket.

Fast forward a month later and Woods still hasn't ruled out playing Augusta National next month, but he did offer a more pessimistic view given where he's at in his return from another back surgery.

"I said I've been working on it," Woods said after his TGL team Jupiter Links defeated longtime friend Rory McIlroy's Boston Common to advance in the playoffs. "Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. Disk replacement is not a lot of fun."

"So as I said, I've had a lot of procedures prior to that, so the body doesn't quite heal like it was when I was 24. Doesn't quite bounce back. So I have good days when I can pretty much do anything, and other days where it's hard to just to move around," he added.

With the victory over McIlroy's team on Tuesday night, Jupiter Links will play Los Angeles in the finals starting Monday, March 23. Woods revealed he has attempted to play in the last few matches, but hasn't been able to fully recover enough to compete – a worrying sign with the Masters just three weeks away.

"Well, I think that I have been trying to play each and every one of these matches," he said. "I've been trying to come back. But it just hasn't worked out that way. ... But the guys here, this team, we have so much fun, I really don't want to screw up the lineup, I just want these guys to keep playing."

The Masters tees off on April 9.

For some reason I just learned that he has to pay for the meal. Pretty odd to say "In Honor off" and hand him a bill. Not that it matters - he can certainly afford it but it seems odd that the winner pays

Phil Mickelson returns ahead of the Masters. Can the golf legend regain form in time?

Mickelson had previously revealed he would miss the opening LIV events of 2026 due to a family health matter involving his wife, Amy Mickelson. What was initially expected to be a short absence extended longer than planned, raising concerns before his return was confirmed earlier this week.

Incredible’: Golf Fans Go Wild as Masters Quietly Drops New Game-Changing Feature

Kailash Bhimji Vaviya

Thu, Mar 19, 2026, 1:08 PM CDT

The Masters Tournament is one of the most exciting golf events in the history of the sport. With the biggest stars playing it every year, the event has produced hundreds of memorable moments. And now, fans can search them with an “incredible” new feature the Masters introduced to its website and application.

“Oh wow, the Masters launched a search function where you can find video of any shot hit from 1968-2025. 😳,” Kyle Porter, founder of Normal Sport, wrote in an X post.

The post features four images of the new feature, the Masters Vault. These include the landing page image of the website and search results for “Tiger chip” and “Rory drive.”

While Porter initially reported that fans could see any shot through the vault, he then corrected himself. That’s because the Masters Vault only has shots of the final rounds stored in it.

“Search for shots from the 1968-2025 Masters Final Rounds,” reads the description of the feature on the Masters website.

The feature uses AI-powered search technology developed with IBM Watsonx. It allows fans to locate specific shots easily after signing up or logging in.

That’s why they couldn’t hold back their excitement when the news broke.

Fans call it “incredible” as excitement floods social media

It didn’t take long for the feature to spark a wave of reactions. Golf fans quickly shared how impressed they were.

Many were stunned by the scale of what the Masters had just rolled out. Reflecting on the same, one user wrote, “That might be the best app ever created.”

The feature covers 58 years of final round shots for every golfer who played the last round of the event.

This means that fans could now watch for the first time or relive some of the most iconic shots from the last rounds of the Masters. For instance, they could look for Tiger Woods’ chip-in on the 16th hole from behind the green in the 2005 Masters. Similarly, they could also look for Larry Mize’s 1987 playoff chip from 140 feet on the 11th.

From Sandy Lyle’s 1988 bunker shot to Bubba Watson’s 155-yard wedge shot from 2012, from Jeff Maggert hitting himself with his own golf ball on No. 3 in 2003 to what Jim Nantz once famously called “the shot of a lifetime” on CBS, there are many moments fans would like to watch again.

One fan summed up the general mood, writing, “Incredible…I know what I’m doing this afternoon lol.”

The Masters Vault has long provided access to past final-round moments, but what’s really amazing is how easily a particular memory can now be revisited almost instantly, transforming recollection into something you can watch again in a matter of seconds.

So, the comment hints at just how addictive the feature could be. The event itself is iconic and one of the most prestigious among golfers and fans alike. Thus, for anyone wanting to relive classic Masters moments, this feature could take up hours of their schedule. Echoing similar feelings, another user joked, “My Thursday schedule has just been derailed…”

The excitement wasn’t limited to long reactions, though. Many didn’t need big words or huge sentences to sum up their joy. One fan commented with a short, emphatic response that read, “THAT IS 🔥🔥🔥.” Another chimed in saying, “That’s amazing!”

Together, these reactions highlight a clear theme. Fans saw it as a major addition to an already amazing application. For many, it felt like a fresh way to experience the Masters and a productive way to bridge the gap between now and the 2026 Masters.

Oh wow, the Masters launched a search function where you can find video of any shot hit from 1968-2025. 😳

Rory broke down the menu and it makes it a little bit more impressive. He put a ton of thought into it. Probably one of the better ones all things considered. And the wine list is ridiculous.

BDC playing great right now...

"Now, with Augusta just weeks away, DeChambeau heads into the Masters carrying the kind of form that makes him a potential winner. He has had two wins in a row. A -26 scorecard in South Africa. Second on the 2026 LIV points standings with 476.90 points across just five events. Fans who have watched him sign autographs in the rain, cry on the 16th hole, and tap in through mud are now asking one question: Can he add a green jacket to all of it?"

Masters coverage to include stats-driven look at Amen Corner on Prime Video

Story by DOUG FERGUSON, AP Golf Writer

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — For those who can't get enough of the Masters, Augusta National is providing even more coverage this year. Its new deal with Prime Video will include a stats-driven broadcast of Amen Corner.

The Masters released its broadcast schedule Thursday for the April 9-12 tournament, which offers its usual full menu of viewing on its digital platforms. Prime Video and ESPN will have live coverage for the opening two rounds, and CBS has the weekend with two hours of lead-in on Paramount+.

This is the 70th year for CBS to broadcast the Masters, and the 18th year ESPN has been involved for the weekday rounds.

New to the Masters this year is a deal announced in September with Prime Video, which will stream two hours (1 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET) on Thursday and Friday that lead to the ESPN coverage. ESPN also has added “Welcome to the Masters,” two hours (10 a.m. to noon) of a pregame show before the opening two rounds.

The relationship with Prime already has led to a documentary on Rory McIlroy's historic win last year that allowed him to complete the career Grand Slam. “Rory McIlroy: The Masters Wait" premiers March 30.

There also will be “Inside Amen Corner” that will be available exclusively on Prime from 10:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 11:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. the final two rounds.

The dedicated feed will offer a stats-enhanced viewing experience that features an in-depth look into playing three of the most famous holes on the back nine at Augusta National — the par-4 11th, the par-3 12th over Rae's Creek and the par-5 13th.

Prime Video is expected to announce more details on “Inside Amen Corner” next week.

NBC plans to air a mini-documentary on Sunday, April 5, titled, “Photographer No. 24,” on Hall of Fame center fielder Ken Griffey Jr.'s role as an official photographer for the Masters last year.

The Masters' digital platforms during the tournament again will have live coverage of featured groups, Hole Nos. 4 through 6, Amen Corner, Hole Nos. 15 and 16, and On The Range.

“Range Tracker” returns for a second year, providing live and recorded data of every shot from every player on the practice range. Another addition for 2026 is “Masters Vault Search,” allowing fans to watch specific tournament clips from more than 50 years of Sunday broadcasts.

HOUSTON — If Pierceson Coody wants to make it to Augusta National, he's going to have to win the Valero Texas Open next week.

The 26 year old withdrew Friday morning ahead of the second round of the 2026 Texas Children's Houston Open due to a back injury. After missing cuts in two of his past three starts, the WD is significant because Coody sits 51st in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Every player inside the top 50 after this week gets invited to the Masters. As for Coody, his only chance to earn a spot in the field now is winning next week. Coody's grandfather, Charles Coody, won the Masters in 1971, and Pierceson grew up attending the tournament and has caddied in the Par 3 Contest.

Pierceson Coody WD with a back injury prior to the second round of the Texas Children’s Houston Open.

Coody is the second WD from the Houston Open since play began Thursday. Although Aaron Rai didn't begin his first round, he withdrew about an hour before his tee time due to a neck injury. Taylor Moore replaced Rai in the field and shot 3-under 67 in the opening round.

This season, Coody has a pair of top-10 finishes, including a T-2 at the Farmers Insurance Open. He made six straight cuts to begin the year but missed the weekend at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship before a T-55 finish at the Valspar.

And now, he'll have six days to work on his back to have a shot at playing his way into the Masters next week in San Antonio.

Dumb TV coverage... but Master.com on select holes, and Prime Video feature groups will provide some earlier round coverage

Golf fans angered by The Masters' TV schedule

Story by Andrew Holleran

The Masters is only a couple of weeks away.

The first - and arguably best - major of the golf season is set to begin on Thursday, April 9. The four-day tournament will have TV coverage on CBS and ESPN. Amazon Prime will also have some coverage.

The Masters officially revealed its complete TV schedule heading into the major tournament. But golf fans are not very happy with it:

  • Thursday: Amazon Prime 1 to 3 p.m. E.T., ESPN 3 to 7:30 p.m. E.T.

  • Friday: Amazon Prime 1 to 3 p.m. E.T., ESPN 3 to 7:30 p.m. E.T.

  • Saturday: 12 to 2 p.m. on Paramount Plus, CBS 2 to 7 p.m. E.T.

  • Sunday: 12 to 2 p.m. on Paramount Plus, CBS 2 to 7 p.m. E.T.

As always, the morning tee times will not be actively covered on TV.

Golf fans are sounding off by the lack of morning TV coverage. Why, in 2026, is this something that we have to deal with?

We should have live TV or streaming coverage of every group in The Masters from start to finish.

Golf fans sound off on Masters' TV coverage

"Absolute blasphemy that they dont cover the morning tee times," one fan wrote.

"Zero coverage of morning tee times - a tradition unlike any other," one fan added.

"So annoying," one fan added.

It's not just the lack of morning coverage, too. It's also that four different TV channels or streaming platforms will have coverage.

"Why is something as simple as golf so overly complicated to watch? Just show it on 1 platform only. I’m so tired of having to play Dora the Explorer to watch sports," one fan added.

How do you feel about the live coverage of The Masters in 2026?

They’ve triumphed around the world. They’ve won multiple majors, hoisted championship and season-long trophies, and some even have ascended to the No. 1 ranking in the world. They’re among the most accomplished players of their generation.

But earning accolades elsewhere doesn’t guarantee success at Augusta National Golf Club, and five multi-major champions enter this year’s Masters Tournament still looking to break through.

Here is a snapshot of their Masters stories — and what tweaks could lead to Green Jacket glory.

Bryson DeChambeau of the United States lines up a putt on No. 3 green during the final round of the 2025 Masters.

Logan Whitton/Augusta National

No Masters participant has trended more positively in recent years than Bryson DeChambeau, who has been inside the top six on the leader board after each of his past eight rounds at Augusta National, including a Sunday showdown in 2025 with eventual champion Rory McIlroy.

And, most promisingly, there’s still room to improve.

DeChambeau’s par-5 scoring over the past four editions has been just 4.71 — slightly better than the field average — despite an overwhelming advantage off the tee. (DeChambeau and McIlroy ranked Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, in driving distance in the 2025 Tournament.)

I learned a lot, and I’m ready to take the challenge on again.

Bryson DeChambeau

Even from those prime positions, DeChambeau, who earned Low Amateur honors in his Augusta National debut in 2016, has lost strokes to the field with his approach play in three of the past four Masters. He’s working to address that facet of his game; last year he tinkered with a new iron setup that added weight in the toe of the clubhead, helping to negate some of his heel strikes and promote the right-to-left shot shape he prefers. Complicating his detailed calculations even more are Augusta National’s severely undulating fairways, which test a player’s adaptability and contact from uneven lies.

As DeChambeau lamented last year, “If I just had somewhat of good iron play this week, it would have been a lot different outcome.”

But he’s never been closer.

DeChambeau is more than just one of the most potent drivers in the game. The two-time U.S. Open champion has become more patient, which he attributes to his off-course, content-creation challenges that force him to control his emotions while pushing his limits. And he has improved his speed control on the greens, particularly on long-range putts.

“I learned a lot,” he said last April, “and I’m ready to take the challenge on again.”

Justin Thomas competes during the third round of the 2025 Masters.

Justin Thomas competes during the third round of the 2025 Masters.

Chris Condon/Augusta National

One of the most prolific winners of his generation, two-time PGA champion and former World No. 1 Justin Thomas owns just two top-10s in 10 career starts at Augusta National, a surprising statistic for the imaginative shot-shaper who has unfettered access to two of the most experienced Masters participants.

Indeed, mastering the challenge of Augusta National has been a never-ending quest for Thomas — even as he takes copious notes in practice rounds while observing five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods and 1992 winner Fred Couples.

“I pretty much follow them around,” Thomas said a few years ago. “It’s like a station — whenever they leave, I pretty much go to the next stop.”

I kind of go back to that round. Like, ‘Dude, remember you made six birdies when you were a freshman in college.

Justin Thomas

But each year the course presents slightly differently, and Thomas said it’s easy to play tentatively — to try to steer a drive into the fairway, or to shy away from a tucked flag even with a wedge — despite the ample opportunities for scoring.

“It’s taken me a little bit to get over the fear of Augusta National,” he said.

That’s why he tries to remember the feeling of his first spin around the course, in the spring of 2012, as a member of the Alabama golf team. As nervous as any round in his life, Thomas made six birdies as a then-18-year-old.

“I kind of go back to that round,” Thomas said. “Like, ‘Dude, remember you made six birdies when you were a freshman in college.’”

Encouragingly, though, after a few down years, Thomas’ iron play is back among the game’s elite, and with the aid of coach Matt Killen, Thomas tweaked his setup and posted the best putting season of his career in 2025.

It might finally be the key to emulating Tiger and Freddie with his own Green Jacket.

Xander Schauffele during a practice round at the 2025 Masters.

Xander Schauffele during a practice round at the 2025 Masters.

Simon Bruty/Augusta National

In his second Masters appearance in 2019, Xander Schauffele enjoyed what he described as his “30 seconds in the sun,” when he briefly took the outright lead on the final nine on Sunday and put himself four holes away from a Green Jacket.

Of course, that’s a mere historical footnote now, with Woods storming to the title and Schauffele finishing tied for second, just a single stroke back. But that day, and that week, were significant in Schauffele’s development.

“It just proves to my team and [me] that we can contend and that we can win on this property,” he said afterward.

I don’t ever walk on property saying, ‘I wish I could have done this better.’ It’s: ‘How can I prepare the best this year?’

Xander Schauffele

The 2019 Masters remains as close as Schauffele has gotten so far. He had another chance to win two years later, going on a torrid run in the final round to nearly chase down Hideki Matsuyama, but rinsed his tee shot on No. 16 and wound up tied for third. Since then, he has finished inside the top 10 at Augusta National in each of the past three years.

“It’s all good feels,” Schauffele said last year. “I don’t ever walk on property saying, ‘I wish I could have done this better.’ It’s: ‘How can I prepare the best this year?’”

And besides, Schauffele is a markedly different player now than he was in 2019 … or 2021 … or even 2023.

Possessing more speed and power, he shed the title as the best current player without a major in 2024 by winning both the PGA Championship and The Open.

Though Schauffele had stamped himself as an ascendant superstar, he didn’t sustain that same momentum last year because of an early-season rib injury, although he did win in Japan in October.

When healthy, Schauffele is arguably the most complete player in the game, well-above average in every major statistical category. That is apparent at an all-around examination like Augusta National, too, where has been positive in every major strokes-gained category since 2023.

Heading into 2026, Schauffele is one of only two players (along with two-time champion Scottie Scheffler) with three consecutive top-10s in the Masters — and now he’s angling for more time in the sun.

Collin Morikawa lines up a putt on No. 9 green during the final round of the 2024 Masters.

Collin Morikawa lines up a putt on No. 9 green during the final round of the 2024 Masters.

Simon Bruty/Augusta National

Collin Morikawa has been a model of consistency at the Masters: four consecutive top-15s, including tying for third place in 2024 when he played in the final pairing with eventual champion Scheffler.

That pressurized spot wasn’t uncommon for Morikawa, who won the 2020 PGA Championship and 2021 Open in his debut in both majors. But he was bested by six strokes in that final round at Augusta National two years ago, and the week helped underscore needed areas of improvement.

In his last four Masters starts, Morikawa has averaged 11 bogeys or worse per Tournament despite being one of the game’s preeminent sharpshooters with his irons. The takeaway: He didn’t have the short-game acumen to save strokes. So Morikawa moved away from being so technique-driven with his action around the greens and simplified his motion, leading to cleaner results. He compared the shift to his full swing, with how he consistently plays one shot shape, a fade: “It’s finding your own thing and wearing that out.”

His putting, however, remains a work in progress. One of the most accurate players in the world, Morikawa was largely unable to cash in on so many good looks last season. He ranked outside the top 150 in putting from inside 10 feet as well as from 15-20 feet in 2025, frustrating misses for a player who resides in that range more than most because of his iron-game proficiency.

It’s finding your own thing and wearing that out.

Collin Morikawa

“It’s an obvious inconsistency in my game,” he admitted of his putting late last year.

And it has shown up at Augusta National.

Over the last four years, Morikawa has gained 1.39 strokes on the field with his iron play — a Scheffler-esque level, and nearly twice as much as his season-long average — but that hasn’t translated to better scoring. Morikawa is only a combined 16 under par in his Masters career. Scheffler, by comparison, is 40 under across that same span. It’s another gap Morikawa is trying to narrow.

Brooks Koepka walks to the No. 10 green during the second round of the 2023 Masters.

Brooks Koepka walks to the No. 10 green during the second round of the 2023 Masters.

Chris Trotman/Augusta National

In his trophy case at home, Brooks Koepka proudly displays his five major trophies — but there’s still an empty space in the middle, reserved for what would be the grandest of them all: the Masters.

It hasn’t been for a lack of effort.

Koepka’s first real opportunity for a Green Jacket came in 2019, when he failed to separate from a five-way logjam on the final nine and finished one behind Woods.

“You want to play against the best to ever play,” he said that day. “You want to go toe-to-toe with them, and I can leave saying I gave it my all.”

Koepka was decidedly tougher on himself in 2023.

You want to play against the best to ever play. You want to go toe-to-toe with them, and I can leave saying I gave it my all.

Brooks Koepka

Staking himself to a four-stroke lead with 30 holes left, Koepka went 22 consecutive holes without a birdie and watched his advantage disappear. At the end of a marathon Sunday, he carded a final-round 75, losing by four to Jon Rahm. It was the first time in Koepka’s major career that he had failed to convert a 54-hole lead, and he vowed not to be so conservative again. (He won the PGA Championship one month later.)

Those two weeks in 2019 and 2023 represent the highlights of what has been an otherwise uneven Masters record, with just three top-10s in 10 career starts.

Koepka enters this year’s Tournament having shot over par in his last eight competitive rounds at Augusta National, a microcosm of his overall major record during that span (zero top-10s in his last 10 majors). Last year was the first time in his career that he missed the cut in three majors.

“Honestly, half the battle is feeling confident,” he said late last year. “And if you’re not confident, it’s tough to shoot scores.”

Especially at Augusta National.

Damn just saw this: "The Masters" was only major "Merry Mex" didn't win

Lee Trevino explains why he skipped the Masters for 3 years in his prime

Ryan Ballengee

Lee Trevino skipped the Masters three times in the prime of his career, a move that baffled so many in the sport. He passed on Augusta National in 1970, '71 and '74, going on to win the U.S. Open and British Open in 1971 and the PGA Championship in 1974.

At the time and for years after, Trevino maintained that he didn't play in the Masters because he was convinced he couldn't play the course well. It was in his head. However, having held the 36-hole lead there twice over the years, perhaps that should have been seen as a flimsy excuse.

In an interview with Global Golf Post, Trevino explained the real reason why he didn't play the Masters: It was a boycott of tournament chairman Clifford Roberts.

"My problem wasn't with Augusta," Trevino said. "My problem wasn't with the golf course. I made it that simply because I didn't want to tell the truth. My problem was I couldn't get along with Cliff Roberts.

"Cliff Roberts and I locked horns the first time I was there. I took a disliking to the man and he took a disliking to me. I stayed away from there because I didn't want to have anything to do with him."

Eventually, Jack Nicklaus, who Trevino beat more than any of Nicklaus' supposed rivals in majors, convinced the Merry Mex to come back.

"I never told Jack about it," Trevino added. "I went back and I didn't say anything. It wasn't Augusta at all. I loved Augusta."

The response back then to Trevino's decision to avoid Augusta was that he must have known his low fade wouldn't work at Augusta National. Trevino's response, then and now, is rooted in history.

He said, "Jimmy Demaret won it three times with a fade."

ESPN taking heat for Jason Kelce announcement week before the Masters

While Kelce is beloved in many spaces, golf fans might be getting some Kelce fatigue because the reaction to ESPN’s announcement was less than positive.
