I have a few concerns: 1) Is this offense so dominant that the pitchers will get complacent? 2) Will Hader slack off in his rehab because these wins aren't even save situations? 3) Is all of the runni

I think this is an 84-win team with the lineup as constructed. Too many freeswingers with low contact rates and not enough Isaac Paredeses. Aging vets like Altuve and Correa and a walking IL named Yordan. But the pitching looks solid!

Excited for baseball, but didn't even turn on the game last night. Excited for Astros baseball!!!

Opening day preview.

Nonsense section at the end would be a lifetime achievement award in nonsense if yours truly hadn’t driven an rv into a low bridge

Things I hope to see today:

  1. Isaac Paredes in the starting lineup. This lineup needs him, Yordan and Altuve to be successful.

  2. Hunter Brown continues to be dominant and has a quality start.

  3. Yordan hits a HR.

  4. Yainer takes a walk.

  5. No bullpen issues.

Offense sucked last year and only upgrade is healthy Yordan.

Gonna be a disaster team once again at the plate, but this time healthy.

No way Meyers does anything close to last season. Correa has always been an underachiever at the plate in my eyes. Altuve not getting younger.

Maybe Diaz pulls his head out of his ass and Walker does something more than blow up the last week of the season to get over .700 OPS.

Hoping Cam makes some strides. LF is a fucking disaster (not counting Yordan but his ass doesnt need to be out there). Cole is a joke. Loperfido may can do what Meyers did last season with about 10 more hormers and .30 lower BA.

Yordan and Pena will probably be the only two really worth a shit.

I don't have high hopes at all at the plate. Now pitching should be legit and keep us in most games so we can still pull off some wins, but we will be making a lot of them way harder than they should be.

I'd probably predict 83-79, and would be happy with anything over that win total.

In summary Dana is a fucking dildo....Espada is a bigger dildo.

I would love to come back to this post in October and be wrong about most of this.

I've got the same vibe. Getting old sucks, letting good players walk year after year after year sucks. Feels very 2006-2008ish. Ah well, the bandwagon needs a reset anyway. Or maybe I'm wrong and we have another run in us.

92 and 70 of things go well.

102-60 of things go outstanding.

85-77 of we get more meh answers than good

78 and test it down if injury luck goes bad and none of the younger guys can figure out their strikeout situation.

I’m calling 92-70.

Predictions: Loperfido leads team in Avg, Correa in HRs, Altuve becomes 8 hole hitter, Jake Meyers gets DFA at some point.

So….

Joey team high .278 avg

Correa 18 HR

First Opening Day in a few years for me. I usually catch at least 1 game during the first home series, but it's been a second since I actually was downtown for Game 1/162.

Most important thing this year is obviously that we stay healthy, or even just middle of the pack in terms of days that our regulars spend on the IL. Can't have 750+ plate appearances taken by negative-WAR AAAA dreck.

Reading between the lines, Jeremy Peña has progressed enough not to need a full 10 days on the injured list, but is not ready to play in a major-league game yet.
Jeremy Peña is in Sugar Land this morning taking live at-bats, a team spokesman said.

I have low hopes for this season

Made the same comment yesterday about bandwagon needing a reset.

Whether or not we break .500 depends on when the first significant SP arm injury occurs… before Memorial Day, forget it. After and we have a chance to hit 85 wins.

Wulaw’s 92 has to be a typo… but I do appreciate his half glass full to offset my negativity.

Can’t even have 1 game with a healthy lineup

My favorite time of year! Astros baseball and all the praise, cheers, gripes and tantrums in here that go with it. We are winning it all until we ain’t! Let’s go!

My Baseball Prayer

Dear Lord,

Thank you for having Yordan in the lineup for opening day. Father I ask that when the final out of the MLB 26 season is recorded, please find it in your heart to not let it be those cock suckers in LA or those insufferable damn Yankees, winning it all.

Amen…

Play Ball!!!

I am also pessimistic, but that's mainly because we didn't hit for shit in the spring.

I still can't get over the fact that Yordan Alvarez has been in the bigs for seven years and has never hit 40 HRs in a single season. This better be the year he hits that milestone. I'm skeptical.

Loperfido is good for about 65 singles up the middle

We aren't going to run Walker in the 4 hole until the All Star Break?
