2026 Transfer Portal Thread

Featured Replies

There are currently 2,901 players in the men’s basketball transfer portal, opening 14 hours ago.

With only 5,607 Division I players total, more than half of the player pool is now in the portal.
#2

Any targets of interest for you personally?

#3

The VaTech Greek guard Avdalas, the Georgia PF Cyril, Nova PG Lewis seem interesting. Derka knows more about this than I , so I'm sure he'll have some interesting names.

#4

So the half that are getting paid are good, and the other half that want to get paid are in the portal?

Have I got that right?

There's a lot of trash in the portal, but Michigan just showed the value that smart portal additions can bring.

well i’ve got a lot of guys who i like, but i don’t know who we’re in on or who we can afford. obviously id love to pair Vok with the lithuanian big from St.Mary’s, as size is paramount these days, and i’d have to assume that they already know each other and have played together in the lithuanian youth set up.

iirc we’ve got a visit scheduled with isaiah johnson from colorado, and he should be a major priority. acaden lewis from nova seems like a good backup plan. i’ve already mentioned stefan vaaks from providence, and i admit im a bit enamored with him. with his skill at his size i have to imagine everyone will be after him.

but yeah, that’s basically the type of roster i would want for us to build: more size, more facilitating, more scoring. a starting five of

Johnson

Goosby

Vaaks

Murauskas

Vok

would be what a 10/10 post-portal lineup looks like to me. skill in the back court, size and skill on the wing, and even more size down low. of course at the end of the day the competition for the guys i’m familiar wit will be heavy, so i think that our budget will play a huge role in how competitive we can be for top end talent. final note: im hoping that miller’s history with recruiting euros will help him with some of these guys if we do go after them.

This is what is giving me hope as well. It isn't a coincidence 2/4 Final Four teams this year put such a big emphasis on European players.

side note: whenever it’s time to go play in the backyard i ask my dog, “you wanna go outside?”, and whenever she responds like, “yes please!!”, for some reason i always say, “oh you do know betty blackwell??”, lol. anyway, during the big 10 tournament i ended up having to take her out three different times after shouting “blackwell!” after big shots, lol. twice in one day.

Is that portal number just d-1 kids? Or all levels? My friend’s son plays d3 and entered the portal after averaging 26ppg. So I was curious if that 2,901 number includes the d2, d3, naia, and juco kids that enter the portal too.

If you're referring to the portal number in the OP, it specifically says its D1 players.

That’s a troll account. The post got noted and it says there’s about 800-1,000 D1 players in the portal.

I have no idea if its a troll account or not, but last year the final number was about that large

As of Monday, April, 6, there are none, since the portal does not “officially” open until Tuesday. The portal already carries the names of more than 1,000 players seeking to restart their college basketball careers for assorted reasons.

In 2024, the portal saw 2,087 players enter. In 2025, it was 2,652. Might this spring hit 3,000?

#21

so the number of college basketball players from all levels has to be close to 7,500 in the portal if you include lower levels. High school kids right now are barely getting recruited, the majority of kids not in the top 300 in the nation which is 99% of kids aren’t getting recruited until the portal closes and all these guys find homes. NAIA and d2 coaches I’ve spoken too have said they get the d-1 cast offs first before going after 18 year old high school freshmen. My own son is a 6’4 210 sg that shot 42% from three and played uil 6a and has three d3 offers, naia, NCCAA small school offers and a few d2 coaches that will get back with us after the portal closes. It’s been a not so pleasant experience.

The portal is flooded.

1,642 players entered so far.

17 avg 20 PPG this season

6 avg 10 RPG

24 avg 5 APG

17 avg 2 BPG

24 avg 2 SPG

13 were 50–40 shooters

RAPM helps cut through some of the noise and points clearly: Flory Bidunga is the prize of the offseason.

Looking for a sharpshooter transfer? There are 30 players in the portal who are 97th percentile or better in their 3PT% projection at https://t.co/cegyfz8ykZ.

They are all ordered here by their overall transfer rating, with Rob Wright and John Blackwell leading the pack 👇

Chandler entered with a DNC tag anyhow.

#31

Disappointed on Chandler leaving, sounds like homesick for Utah was the deciding factor.

BREAKING: Westchester Knicks guard Dink Pate has committed to Providence, his agent Sam Permut of @RocNationSports told ESPN. G-League star turned down two-way and 10-day opportunities to maintain eligibility. Former top-30 recruit is averaging 16.0 PPG this season.
#35

I wonder if JP Estrella committing to Michigan helps us with David Punch. Supposedly it was down to Michigan and Texas with a DNCT (Do not Contact Tag).

The Miles Bryd news a little disappointing. Hoping Texas was more in it, but Gerry said we were out of it. However, he is going to Providence. In grand scheme of things it looks like they are in rebuilding mode. They are also blowing through their money by getting Dink Pate.

Really, like Paul McNeil. Maybe we could benefit for Rob Wright since Colin Chandler appears to be lock to BYU. BYU is essentially losing massive chunk of their production. Since Cam Heide entered the portal. We should probably take one on this list. However, it wouldn’t be wise to build a roster solely on this. 1 player on this list should be fine. Building a roster of streaky players could be nerve wracking. It’s kind of the problem that plagued Texas this past year .

yeah providence is on one, they are splashing the cash out of nowhere and trying to turn that ship around overnight. the big east is basically a mid major conference after the top 2-3 teams, so if they get this right it could pay off quickly.

#38

The way that Hodgson wants to play as an Oates disciple makes guys like Pate and Byrd worth blowing most of the war chest. Especially in a league like the Big East that is down right now. They'll be fun to watch if he can keep getting players.

Allen Graves will become the #1 transfer at https://t.co/cegyfz8ykZ, moving ahead of Flory Bidunga.

Quite simply a tremendous player with a ton of potential to pop even more in his sophomore year. Does pretty much everything at a really high level.
Santa Clara star Allen Graves is now in the portal. Immediately becomes a top-five transfer, if not higher. Averaged 11.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.9 steals, shot 41.3% from 3, does a little bit of everything. Has also declared for the NBA draft.

As a follow-up on Allen Graves, it's pretty rare to find a guy who is so good in so many different skill areas, without having many weaknesses.

Similar in that way to Yaxel Lendeborg.
