Just saw one of his Swalwell attack ads.

I don't think he's going to need those anymore.

Just another example of us happily throwing a piece of shit Dem in the trash while the right-wing bootlickers excuse or ignore the rampant GOP criminality.

The quicker you stop trying to force both parties to play by the same rules, the quicker you will find more peace.

He just needs to assault more women, switch parties, and he'll have a solid shot at POTUS in no time.

#111

He should just fall on the sword and admit that he’s sorry that he went out partying with Trump and had sex with minors

I Can’t remember where i posted it this morning, but it looks like Xavier Becerra is getting grassroots support since the Swalwell news.

Sure, he’s 68 but he has more experience than Porter and Steyer combined.

Yeah, I've been hearing his name locally as well (small town in Central Valley). I'm going to have to actually watch the debates to decide between him and Porter.

#113

I would say I can’t imagine a more uninspiring candidate than Xavier Becerra for this race, but lo and behold we also have Betty Yee and Tony Thurmond still hanging around.

One accuser - meh

Two accusers - pay attention

Two or more - something's up.

That said, I remain troubled by the lack of due process since the ouster of Al Franken from the Senate.

I‘m in San Jose and the mayor, Matt Mahan, is running.

he is also in the running for uninspiring candidate as he is bought and paid for by the tech bros

I love Matt Mahan and have been following him since his mayoral campaign. And that said, I still completely agree he is an uninspiring, boring white guy. But he’s young!

You must be a tech bro lol

Jk

Mahan needs to be nowhere near the governors office. The remaining candidates really are pretty meh but folks must coalesce around someone.

For criminal charges on assault, absolutely should get due process But he has also admitted to having affair with at least one direct report. That alone is (or should be) disqualifying. I understand it's all too common but I wouldn't call the pushback he's getting "troubling:.

Tony Gonzales announces he will resign

He’s the rep for the county where the big bend border wall is going up. We need to get someone in that gives a shit.

#124

I've got a funny feeling (based on no real evidence) that Kamala could jump into this race in the next few days. If she did, she'd run off with it.

#125

For Gonzales and Swalwell, they both have announced plans to resign. Plans. This is a delaying tactic. And when they actually submit the resignation, it can for a future date.

I’d argue that they’ve already both previously announced their retirement since neither are running for reelection.

By announcing these new plans to retire, they’re just hoping to avoid a House ethics investigation. Even if that goes forward, they can walk out the door 5 minutes before the ethics report is released and the House will throw the report away. It happens time and time again.

Two congressmen resign because they can't stop fucking people other than their wives. Meanwhile, mistress fucker Ken Paxton is likely to win the R nomination for Texas senate.

He'd be less likely to win if he was a faithful husband who didn't fuck mistresses and engage in illegal activity.

I wish Franken was still in the Senate. He was outstanding.

His clowning around crossed the line into the offensive. He's not the monster that Trump is or anything close to being a monster at all, but sneaking squeezes of women's rears during a photo-op knowing there will be no real recourse for the woman is akin to Trump running his hand up under a young woman's skirt in a restaurant. He made it to the underwear. Nobody sees these actions, so the woman has the choice of speaking up or just letting it go. The offender (Franken or Trump with this example) commits an offense and likely some level of crime with impunity.

I hate that. Trump lives for it. Franken should know better.

Franken's resignation was a harsh penalty. The woman whose breasts he nearly touches in a picture from the plane did not want to kill his career. Other women were stepping forward in the rise of the Me Too movement (a good thing). The Dems probably could have saved Franken, but they didn't want to be in any way apologists for the abuse and assaults on women that were far more commonplace than many of us (myself included) imagined. Was forcing him to resign going too far? It is compared to the circled wagons of the white male right but not for maintaining a standard for decency.

I'd hoped Franken would run and be re-elected. I'm sure he's contrite.

#131

Franken definitely shouldn't have been pushed out. Censure him? ok. Knock him out of a leadership position? ok. Use him to show how you are aligned to the Me Too movement? Big mistake. I would think most the Dem Senate would privately agree with that now.

She beat trump by 20 points in California. Early polls for GOV had her up by a mile.

Fair point.

This is as good as it gets for Tom Steyer. No other candidate has had Trump trash them.

This came out last year and didn't seem to have lasting impact, but I don't live in California or pay much attention to their elections.

Exclusive from @melmason on Katie Porter, who berates a staffer and tells her to “get out of my fucking shot!” while recording a video with the Biden administration.

It sunk her candidacy, although she may now a good chunk of Swalwell supporters.

I’m accepting that Steyer will buy the election. It is just too difficult to establish statewide name recognition. Mahan is launching a $14 million ad campaign but I don’t see that doing much. Even Newsom thinks the race is mid:

Dumb question amnesty requested: why is Newsom not running? Is he termed out? Not used to that being a thing in Texas. If not, is it just assumed he’s running for president in 2028, so why bother?
