The west side needs Dayne’s Craft Barbecue.

So Dayne’s will return to Lola’s Trailer Park Aug. 24, back home where Dayne Weaver and Ashley Hays began chasing their craft barbecue dream.

Yes, Dayne’s flirted with the idea of moving to West Berry Street and into the white-elephant location of the former Americado. Weaver and Hays drew long lines there for several pop-up barbecue dinners.

But with a dozen new Central Texas-style craft barbecue restaurants opening across Fort Worth and Tarrant County, Weaver decided that Dayne’s is better off in the prime location at Lola’s.

“We’ll open Saturdays, noon till we’re sold out, and people will know that’s when and where to find us,” Weaver said.

“The more we got into the Berry Street deal, the more we wanted to go back to our original plan.”

Dayne’s started as a home business with photos on Instagram.

Weaver considered the expansion in March, before Flores Barbecue moved to Clearfork, Derek Allan’s opened in the hospital district, BBQ on the Brazos announced a move to the Benbrook Traffic Circle and Panther City BBQ made the Texas Monthly list of best new barbecue restaurants.

“It seems like everybody wants barbecue,” Weaver said.

“Panther City BBQ is really good at this. They do a great job of just putting their noses down and working hard and making good barbecue. Flores is making tremendous food over there too.”

Dayne’s will open Aug. 24 and continue to serve at noon Saturdays except Sept. 14, when he and Hays will be married.

Watch for it at 2735 W. Fifth St.; 682-472-0181, daynescraftbarbecue.com.

For years, Blue Goose Cantina has been teasing Fort Worth with the possibility of opening a location in town.

Well it looks like it’s finally happening. Blue Goose Cantina submitted a permit with the city in late May to open a restaurant in the University Park Village development on South University Drive.

According to the plans, Blue Goose Cantina will be renovating the space that used to house Bread Winners Cafe, which closed last month. No timeline has been set for the end of construction.

For the unfamiliar, Blue Goose Cantina is a Dallas-based eatery that prides itself on its Tex Mex fare, with typical staples like tacos, enchiladas and fajitas. But the menu also includes nontraditional items, like bacon-wrapped shrimp and “Goose Eggs,” which are fried jalapenos stuffed with chicken and cheese.

Blue Goose Cantina is also known for its long list of flavored margaritas. On the traditional end, there’s the classic frozen margarita, but on the wilder end there’s the Sancho, made with jalapenos.

The Fort Worth Blue Goose Cantina will be the seventh location for the company and the second in Tarrant County, after the one in Grapevine.

It is really hard to explain how many TVs Buffalo Bros. downtown has.

Forgot that was open now. Opens at 11am so next Saturday I can walk in there after Gameday and start getting drunk as hell to celebrate football's glorious return.

We discussed Margie’s on here awhile back.

Hey, Bud! We all remember the delicious nine-layer lasagna at Spaghetti Warehouse. The soupy lasagna most Italian restaurants serve is no substitute. Where can I find lasagna?

It’s now 15-layer lasagna at Spaghetti Warehouse, particularly Aug. 22 for National Lasagna Day. Arlington still has a location at 1255 Interstate 20 West. I think Mancuso’s Italian Restaurant, 9500 White Settlement Road, has the best traditional lasagna, and beta version Margie’s Italian Kitchen, 9805 Camp Bowie West, is still dishing up a good version after 66 years. (For a nice night out, order “Grandma’s Lasagna” at Piola Italian Restaurant & Garden, 3700 Mattison Ave.)

I’ve still never been to Mancuso’s.

It was better when Kathy was the owner and cook. She let her son take over and it lost a little something. Not bad, but not what it was when people like Tony Bennett and other celebrities were driving over to White Settlement when in town just to eat authentic Italian.

Funny thing is if someone asked me if there was a liquor store off Clifford/White Settlement, I'd know Crow's in a minute.

But if they asked for Italian, I'd have to say Joe's because that (or Chili's) was where we always had to go between softball games.

Priorities, I guess.

Went to Margie's many times, loved their pizza. Haven't been in several years because on our last visit they had an absolutely horrid grease trap smell. Everybody in the restaurant were kinda looking at each other like WTF and basically the servers were acting like business as usual. We couldn't finish our meal. Paid up and left.

The NBC article makes it sound like they were just fucking with her while she was passed out in Library.

This reads a whole lot worse...

He is accused of raping a passed-out woman inside the business after hours in December 2017. The woman had passed out inside the downtown bar and the assault was caught on the bar’s surveillance cameras, police said.

Surveillance video showed Espiricueta positioning the apparently unconscious woman across the bar to have sex with her, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

I have been in court where horrible video/audio was played and 3 minutes can seem like an hour.  The jury is not going to react well to watching, what, an hour+ of a rape?

A former downtown Fort Worth bar owner walked up behind a woman who appeared unable to move and had sex with her before he escorted her out of the bar, according to a surveillance video jurors watched Tuesday morning.

The video was shown to a jury of 10 men and two women Tuesday on the second day of the sexual assault trial against Israel Espiricueta, 42, of Austin.

Espiricueta was an owner at The Library Bar. He isaccused of raping the passed-out woman inside the business after hours in December 2017.

If convicted, the former bar owner faces a maximum of 20 years in prison on the charge.

Prosecutors rested their case just before noon Tuesday and just after showing the jury the surveillance video. The defense will present its case this afternoon.

The woman testified Monday.

Jurors watched the video Tuesday morning which began as the woman sat barely moving at the bar.

For most of the video, the woman kept her hands on the bar, laying her head on them.

A detective identified a man in the video as Espiricutea to the jury. Espiricueta can be seen turning off lights in the club and escorting customers out.

Just before 6 a.m on Dec. 23, 2017, Espiricueta walks behind the woman, pulls her pants down and has sex with her. The woman barely moved, according to the video.

After a few minutes, Espiricueta pulls the woman’s pants up. He hugs her as she stands behind her.

Espiricueta later can be see helping the woman up from the bar and escorting her out. The woman told police Espiricueta continued to sexually assault her at a hotel after they left the bar.

On Tuesday morning, defense attorney Chip Lewis questioned the detective about how many times the woman had lied to authorities during the investigation.

Lewis said that the woman had deleted text messages from her to Espiricueta from her cell phone and never told detectives about it, and that she told detectives there was no physical contact between her and Espiricueta but the video showed the two kissing.

And the defense attorney pointed out to the jurors that the woman had told detectives she had spent just a short time at the bar, but the video showed that she was there for almost two hours.

Toxicology results showed the woman had no date rape drug in her system after the incident.

The woman had passed out inside the downtown bar and the assault was caught on the bar’s surveillance cameras, police said.

A judge tightened Espiricueta’s bond conditions in September, requiring that he wear a GPS monitor and stay out of bars and strip clubs — including his own bar unless it was after business hours. The special conditions were in place after social media posts alleged Espiricueta had been seen visiting Fort Worth bars.

Ooops, meant to say that I'd look into Pinstripes, too.

People will be coming from work; their choice whether or not to wear jackets.  Organizer felt that the online pics of Chimy's portrayed a "Fuzzy's Taco" type feel and they were looking to put forward something a little more "Pappasitos" or "better."

I think the organizer is thinking sipping wine or whiskey.  I personally think beer and margaritas are OK but it's not my call; I'm just trying to help out by presenting options.

Where did y’all end up last Thursday?

Eh we’re taking my mother in law. We’re all pretty healthy eaters so it looks like something up our alley. I’m not much of a beer drinker either, so the variety of cocktails look good too. It seems convenient that it’s just down the street from WOB

Need to find a nice spot for Saturday that we’ve never been to before. Got a babysitter from 3-9 so I can take the wife out for her birthday. Whereas I’m in the same camp as Spy, set me up at a dive like Corsets and I’m at home, the wife likes places like Little Red Wasp, Mash’d, Rodeo Goat, Gloria’s and so on. Patio is a plus, she likes that kind of shit. I only like it if it’s below 60 degrees, but it’s her day so I’ll suffer it.

And for the record if you say Woodshed I’ll stab you with a rusty spoon. Fuck Tim Love.

If you like that list of places, I would head down to Clearfork.  Try to talk her into City Works patio since it has TVs and you can watch the game.  Doc B's has TVs on the patio too, as does Pinstripes I believe.
