Fort Worth is exploding

Owners say it’s because money is tight, because beer is losing popularity to distilled spirits, because fewer drinkers are staying out late or even because the Dallas Mavericks missed the pro basketball playoffs.  [/Quote]

That's a new one! Tanking the last two games has real life consequences.

I used to sneak out to Houston St bar to watch afternoon Ranger games when I worked downtown. Can’t say I’ll miss it though. Only went there because I knew I wouldn’t run into any coworkers.

Any idea what kind of food they served during ‘Rona when everyone was forced to? Not exactly my idea of a clean dining establishment.

Can’t say I’ve ever been to Press Café, but they’re coming to Aledo.

Press Café, part of the FAR Out Hospitality group, will soon be coming to the City of Aledo’s Downtown area and adding further to the community’s rich array of high-quality amenities. The restaurant’s new location at 109 S. Front St. (the former location of the Bistro restaurant), is expected to open its doors in the fall of 2023. This will be the second location of Press Café, one of Fort Worth’s most popular restaurants.

“Press Café is an exciting and welcomed addition to our community. As one of the most popular restaurants in the Metroplex, Press Café’s outstanding reputation and exceptional fare will be an economic driver for Aledo and will serve our residents and visitors well,” said Aledo Mayor Nick Stanley. “Press Café and the FAR Out Hospitality team have a reputation as one of Dallas-Fort Worth’s best hospitality and restaurant groups, providing outstanding food and drink for loyal patrons. I know our residents eagerly await its opening later this year.”

The addition of Press Café - Aledo is another step in the ongoing effort to revitalize and redevelop Downtown Aledo, as reflected in the Downtown Master Plan developed with significant community input in recent years. This effort includes construction of the new Aledo Municipal Complex.

"We are excited to bring Press Cafe to the Aledo foodie community and introduce our unique take on contemporary American classics,” said FAR Out Hospitality owner Felipe Armenta. “Our team has put in a lot of hard work to ensure that our guests have a memorable dining experience, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

Press Café - Aledo will provide guests with unique and memorable dining experiences highlighting locally grown and seasonally inspired dishes through a menu curated by veteran chefs Felipe Armenta and Graham Elliot, with seamless friendly and hospitable service set in a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.

The restaurant’s interior design is inspired by the beautiful views and surroundings that Aledo provides. The space will feature a full bar with wines both by the glass and by the bottle, locally brewed bottled and draft beers, as well as hand-crafted cocktails, all of which will contribute to elevated dining experiences.

Press Café - Aledo will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, with brunch on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the restaurant’s regular menu, Press Café - Aledo will offer daily specials and features that will provide guests with an ever-changing selection of seasonal dishes.

FAR Out Hospitality is the owner of several well-known Dallas-Fort Worth restaurants, including Tavern, Pacific Table, The Grill, Maria’s Mexican Kitchen, Towne Grill, Cowboy Prime, and the soon to open Le Margot and F1 Smokehouse.

21 people in the jury room for voir dire, one dude forced to wait in hall cause he wore shorts. Car wreck case, older white-ish women hit a younger black couple outside of Aladdin Cafe. Assume the couple was on the shoulder based on questioning.

20 of the 21 potential jurors got multiple questions, neither attorney so much as acknowledged my presence in the room. I literally did not speak a single word.

Also had the saddest chicken sandwich in the history of life at Jake’s after. Would have been better off spending $1.25 at any fucking McD’s in this county.

....soooo they're the chili's of brunch

I haven’t been to a Chili’s in 10+ years but I would say Press Cafe has far better food than anything Chili’s serves, plus their location is great. Chili’s has bad food and sterile generic bad locations. So no, they are not the Chili’s of brunch.

There are other places in town I typically prefer for brunch, but Press Cafe is a reasonable option on occasion, especially when the weather is nice and you want to have brunch outside.

Did he say when he's opening? I haven't been in over a month, but the turd posted on Facebook a week or two ago that the opening of the brick and mortar Brix was imminent

He wouldn't commit to an opening date, but said they were getting close, and the fact they're about to start hiring, leads me to believe it will be sooner rather than later.

The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting at a strip club early Sunday morning that a Tarrant County commissioner said left one person dead and three others injured.

The shooting was reported just after 3 a.m., at Temptations Cabaret, located on Camp Bowie West Boulevard.

The sheriff’s office has not released any additional information about the shooting, but Tarrant County Commissioner Manny Ramirez said four people were shot during a shootout with security guards.

One person was left dead.

Ramirez said Temptations has "a clear pattern of dangerous criminal activity," including "multiple homicides, numerous aggravated assaults, and dozens of drug related offenses."

He has called for the business to be closed down due to the criminal activity it brings.

"This business has caused damage to our Tarrant County communities for too long. Enough is enough," Ramirez said in a statement.

That has all the Aledo social media group up in arms. “What is it going to take to close that place?” That and the “Porn” Shop next door.
Is it in a city or unincorporated? The tax assessor says FWISD, but no specific city taxes. The FW boundary on Google maps cuts through the middle of the lot, though that may be inaccurate.

Temptations Cabaret is located in unincorporated Tarrant County off Interstate 30 near Linkcrest Drive as seen here on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Crime at the strip club has led to discussion in the Tarrant County Court of Commissioners to revoke its sexually oriented business permit.

Three people were wounded and a gunman was shot and killed at Temptations Cabaret strip club in west Tarrant County early Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

The first deputies to arrive at the scene were told a fight inside the club ended with gunshots when a patron was asked to leave and started shooting, according to the news release. Deputies found three people in the parking lot who were shot, and discovered an armed security guard at the club returned fire and shot the suspect.

According to the news release, the suspect died at a local hospital. His name has not been released. The three other people injured are being treated at hospitals and are expected to survive.

The shooting comes as the county’s elected leadership considers options for terminating the sexually oriented business permit of the adult nightclub, at 12291 Camp Bowie W. Blvd.

Tarrant County Commissioner Manny Ramirez two weeks ago presented the commissioner’s court with statistics from the sheriff’s office he said shows a pattern of dangerous crime at the business that poses a threat to the community.

The move was prompted by incidents including when two people were stabbed at the club around 3:45 a.m. May 6, leading both victims to be hospitalized.

“In Tarrant County we will not stand idly by while the public is placed in danger,” Ramirez said in a news release Sunday.

“When we recognize that there is a clear and present danger to the public, we have the legal and moral obligation to do something about it ... I have requested that the County Administrator of Tarrant County and the District Attorney of Tarrant County take all necessary and legal steps to immediately shutter this dangerous establishment.”

Security guard gets a gold star.

Fort Worth doesn’t care about west Camp Bowie. Shitty. Maybe late in our lifetime it will get better but I doubt it.

If they ever tear down those flop house motels over there I imagine the bedbugs would go flying out like when you shake a tree that's full of pollen.

A new bar is set to replace a Houston Street staple in downtown Fort Worth.

Houston Street Bar and Patio announced in mid-May that the establishment was closing its doors at 902 Houston St. The bar, which opened in 2006, celebrated its final night on Tuesday with karaoke and one last cold beverage.

However, the building will not stay vacant long with a new tenant set to start remodeling work later this week.

A new bar called The Archibald is moving into the 902 Houston St. location and will begin two to three months of remodeling on Thursday, owner Keith Arias told the Star-Telegram.

Arias described The Archibald as having a bar setting that will update the Houston Street building, but keep it approachable. The rooftop bar, a major draw to the locale, will be renovated and remain a key feature of the venue just minutes from Sundance Square.

More information on The Archibald will be released over the next few months, Arias said. The plan is to open the new bar in late summer, around August.

“We’re so excited,” Arias said.

There are half-a-dozen factors leading up to this but the Grill is closed. We had a great dedicated team with a new menu, new hours and even new, more friendly prices, but sales were low and between rent, utilities, and other expenses were too high and we're not making any money, so we have to close.

When I was 19/20 I worked at the Wells Fargo on Hulen in the Tanglewood area. The people that banked there were awesome. Bud Kennedy, Yogi(forget his real name) from bagel fame, Marvin’s Electronics, Marvin from Ol South Pancake House, Dennis Franchione and his smoking hot daughter, Angela Stanford, Jack from King’s Liquor, 754575 TCU girls, and many more I can’t remember.
