Interesting priorities at Rex’s new sports grill and bar last night: Stars hockey on the patio big screen, Mavericks basketball on small TVs inside, no Rangers spring training baseball at all (?!)

Wonder if they don't have a package with Rangers Network? Last night's Stars game was on Fox 4.

2:00 is pregame, that will tell you if they have the network. She can hang for 20 more.

Owner is here.  He said he’ll yes on all TVs.  Will put on some BB when the sweet 16 kicks off

So apparently there’s a lawsuit against Trinity Valley because they covered up that their piano teacher sexually assaulted 16 elementary and middle school kids in 2022-2023. Even if the school was completely forthcoming, the fact that it happened is a huge scandal.

Got a dirty truck around Cresson? Go make a hundo to be in Landman

Quote

One casting notice is looking for “roughneck type men” coming out of their trailers and getting into their trucks.

Filming will began in the late afternoon on Friday and last overnight, according to Legacy. Pay for the day is $110 for 10 hours of work.

Another casting notice is looking for more extras to portray “roughnecks,” only this time with their own trucks.

Legacy needs 30 extras with trucks of any color except red. An additional $35 will be added to an extra’s daily pay if their the vehicle is used in the scene.

For anyone who books the part, Legacy said to not wash their vehicle and instead keep it dusty and dirty. The scene will portray oil workers getting in their trucks and heading to work, thus a dirty vehicle is a must.

Bbq on the Brazos? Didn’t they move out after a disagreement with the property owner or some shit? And then popped back up somewhere else, and Derek Allan or someone else moved in for a hot minute?

I honestly don’t know, only times I’ve been through there in recent memory were 2-3 am.

Has anybody tried Vonte's Philly Cheesesteak?  Food truck, looks like they bounce back and forth between two locations, one being on the stabby-shooty-rapey side of W7th.  I need to know if it's worth walking over to the Local one night or if I should just keep crushing tortas at Los Guapos.

Stay ‘til 3 to see if they have Rangers.

Sucks being Astros fan in this area.  Can’t get their games.

I only needed to watch 3 games (Giants) but Fubo gets Space City and they didn't give me any bullshit blackout. I thought SC was also on DirecTV

Pretty sure it sucks being a fan of anything Houston.

I’m only Astro fan because that’s all I could get while living in Austin area for almost 50 years.  Now the shoe is on other foot since I now live in Ft Worth area.

Anyone been to Reata since the location change?  Thinking about taking wife there for her birthday.

Ate there 2 weeks ago. It was very good. Not a local, so unsure of the previous location but I’d recommend it.

In news that will suprise nobody, The Goat & Vine closed in Montgomery Plaza.
Yada, yada, yada.......that space is cursed.

The surprising thing is that they stayed open close to 2 years.

Agreed.  The food was actually pretty good.  A little pricey but nothing too outrageous.

Stopped at Ribbee’s last week, on Seminary just east of the interstate. They have a simple menu- pork ribs and seasoned fries combos, and beef ribs (old style, not huge with prime rib) with seasoned fries combos.

I enjoyed it.

My old hood is playing for 4A D1 state soccer title. I think it is the first state championship game ever in any sport.

Edit: Castleberry

I know y’all care. Up 2-1 @ Half.

I haven’t been but thanks for reminding me of it. Haven’t been since before Covid.  When I worked In downtown it was a regular spot for out of town clients.  “Have the calf fries!”

I was fortunate to return to DFW at the ascendancy of Texas/Southwest cuisine in 86.  It was a special time as it transformed fine dining which at that time was focused on the French Room, Saint-Emelion, and whatever was spinning around the Reunion ball.  You youngsters don’t realize what eating out was really like until the 80’s.

The takes were so different with Dean Fearing at the Mansion (that fucking lobster taco), Stephan Pyles at Routh Street and Baby Routh, the Rathbun places, Michaels in Ft Worth.  When Grady Spears opened Reata on top of that bank it was so good.  Those tenderloin tamales, his chile relleno, and CFS was all so good.  As he left and went down his path of insanity Reata at Sundance Square had ups and downs.  Gotta give it a shot.

I’d recommend the cherry limeade vodka drink they have. It’s next level shit. I think I had about a dozen.

What is in the old Montgomery Plaza BoomerJack's now?

Nothing.  Going on two years of being empty.  Kimco would rather have no rent than some rent.

Derek Allen hasn’t returned to bbq as far as I know.  His barbecue was excellent and his FoH wife was the hottest lady in Texas bbq.  But the grind finally broke him…that location was very tough, and he had to expand to breakfast and dinner hours.  He also planned on a smashburger joint next door in the old donut shop.

She was pure smoke.

She was inclined to wear tube tops if I remember correctly.
