If you ever get a chance to read the chapter in Phil Kaufman's book, Road Mangler Deluxe, about the shenanigans he and his cohort, Michael Martin, engaged in when they "stole" Parsons' body, took it out to Joshua Tree, partially burned it, and then got arrested when they returned to Los Angeles, I highly recommend that you do so. It's an amazing account of a surreal event.

I recently stayed at The Joshua Tree Inn, where Gram passed. They have a pretty large memorial outside of the room where it happened. And, it's a cool spot in general if you ever visit the park.

"as Gram biographer and Long Ryders band member Sid Griffin later wrote, “like the first Velvet Underground album, it would seem every one of those 50,000 went out and formed a band inspired by what they’d heard.””

That’s a great line

If you havent read the book, "Twenty Thousand Roads", you really ought too. I'm a huge Grampire.
