One of the best OL we've had in a decade.

Also, good story about how dealing with his bullies as a kid helped turned him into what he is now:

Most mocks have him at the very bottom of the first or second round.  I think he could have been a top 10 pick with a good senior year of film but it's hard to pass up 1st round money.  I would have done the same thing if I was Connor.  But I really wish Malik would have stayed for one more year.  I've seen very few drafts with Malik in the 1st round or 2nd round.  Most project him in the 3rd round.

When I hear of him slipping to the second round, I feel like it's because we're in misinformation season. Getting an athletic OL that could excel at guard and possibly play tackle for you seems like great value in the middle of the first round.

I think the combine measurements have also scared away some teams who thought he was a future left tackle all the way.

Ahh yes the usual NFL scouting period where your measurements mean more than what you have actually done.  Who cares that the prospect allowed 4 sacks a game in college at tackle when he is 6'6", 320 and runs a 4.8 40.

I agree but so often those guys are looking for a dude with the measurables that they can properly coach to not give up 4 sacks.

on the flip side you have guys who kill it in college and never play a game in the pros.

O linemen really don’t get taken in the middle of the first round.

Not sure if this is sarcasm.  OL have been taken in the middle of the first round the last 5 drafts (as far back as I looked) with multiple OL taken in the middle of the first round every year except 2017 (only 1 OL taken in 2017 between picks 10-21)

What’s the $$$ difference between late 1st and early 2nd round? I want what’s best for the guy but maybe it’s better he go to a better organization over an earlier pick.

As far as optics go, I’d prefer UT players see that they should stay until after their senior years.
