Not sure what’s going on, but this was in my feed. Had some bangers back in the day. On a high is still great.

Nominated for surliest headline of all time?

In all seriousness, I love that song.

Spring Awakening is one of the best scores. It’s so weird the cast was announced this week for its revival. I’m excited to see it in a few months but damn sad he won’t be there to see it.

Instant ear worm of a song any time I hear it (or even think about it like now). RIP.

That song got really close to 70s yacht rock, maybe 15-20 years down the road. No criticism, it just had that vibe.

Well, RIP. Glad to see he seemed to have a nice career writing for Broadway and off. Still too young.

Never saw any explanation for the surname. I figured it was a stage name back in the day, but apparently not.. Obviously, it sounds arab-y, but also seems unlikely as an actual name in Arabic, but I guess it's possible.

A little googling seems to indicate it's highly concentrated in India, and is Hindi in origin. No idea what his ancestry was.

Interdasting. I was thinking more along the lines of "sheik of araby." And it does apparently carry the meaning of elder or similar honorific in Arabic.

His recent American ancestry seems to be waspy as hell, at least on his mother's side. Andover/Brown.
