Music as Therapy

Some of you have probably seen my posts in the Help forum, as life had kicked me in the ass enough to start to really have an impact on my mental health. I discovered that journaling was a big help for me, and over time those journal entries began to manifest more as song lyrics that I knew a ton of other people out there were feeling similarly about.

However, I can't play music for shit. I was 2nd/3rd chair Saxophone in 6th grade, peak of my physical music prowess. I also don't have a recording studio and equipment in my home, so in order to give those journal entries a melody, I turned to AI. I was a huge skeptic at first, but the more I dove in, the more I was impressed. If that's an automatic turnoff for you, I get it, but to me music has always been more the message than the exact medium.

So, I've been working on this for the last several months, and I’m finally to a point where I’m happy with where each track ended up. I’m going to put it on Spotify as well. Do I realistically expect it to go anywhere? No, but for me it’s been incredibly therapeutic to go through all this to get to this point. If there’s anything you’ve learned as an adult that didn’t meet the picture/dream you had when growing up (and from the majority of the posts here, that's 95% of us assholes), there’s probably some of my lyrics describing it, hopefully with a beat and melody that makes you want to nod your head repeatedly 😊
