Wife and I loved The Americans. It’s a bit slow but very good.

I’m one of the seemingly rare people who did not like Justified. It felt like a network TV show but I never made it through the first season and I’m told it improved.

Also consider Bosch. It’s been recommended many times for good reason.

The wife and I are trying to find a new show to watch and are somewhat in between Justified and The Americans.  Already watched Sneaky Pete and liked it, any husband/wife shows that y'all would recommend?

I’m going to assume you’ve already watched The Marvelous Mrs Maisal. If not, that’s the correct answer.

I’m your go to source for husband/wife TV shows. If my wife likes something (that I like), you can usually count on most wives liking it.

If that sounds like I’m complimenting my wife’s taste in TV shows, then I worded it wrong. If I can get her to watch a good show, she will like it about 90% of the time. It’s getting her to trust my impeccable taste that’s the problem.

Eureka.  From the end of Sci-Fi's better days during their BSG run.  Light-hearted/quirky, and they seemed to have been able to cast some very attractive women (if your wife is into that sort of thing).  It doesn't require a lot of though, although occasionally they slip some decent pretend-science, but it basically mocks all of the government conspiracy stuff, and the writing wasn't too bad (although they had their stretch where the writer's strike impacted them).

Time Team (the UK one) - series 20.   British show where a large team of archaeologists/specialists will travel to areas where the locals have either heard of, or found something unique, and they will do a quick investigation over 3-4 days to prove if there is or isn't something there.

There's over 200 episodes, and I think there have only been one or two where they came up empty-handed.  The rest, they always find Roman/Celtic/etc. stuff.  My wife and I watched the 100+ episodes on Acorn TV, and then found the rest on YouTube (real pain in the ass).

Time Team America is, like most American adaptations, more goofy than the original UK, and obviously no Romans/Celts/etc.

Those aren't the best of recommendations, but it's what we are watching at night, and in the case of Time Team, you learn something, the personalities are cool.  Mainly it doesn't require much thinking/following of plots (although Eureka did have some plots that spanned entire seasons).

LOL.  You didn't like Justified, but never made it through the first season?   It's been said a million times, you can't judge that show based on the first season.   The first season was like a network show with a new adventure each week then they changed to arcing story lines for all remaining seasons.

I keep hearing that but I don’t like to suffer through an entire season of mediocrity for a show to turn good. Most good shows start out good and occasionally fizzle towards the end. Justified apparently did it backwards and the first season was so cringeworthy that I gave it up.

I should clarify that my wife watches everything I watch - Game of Thrones, Americans, Black Mirror, Breaking Bad, Leftovers, Mad Men, Bosch, Narcos, The Wire, True Detective, etc. Currently watching The Sopranos. She’s never had any interest in Real Housewives or Kardashian or Fixer Upper or any of that other garbage that many women apparently like. I guess I got lucky there.

I started Bosch this past weekend, I burned through the first five episodes quick. Love it so far.

You found the needle in the haystack.  If she has big tits and gives blowjobs, you may be the luckiest man in the universe.

I just started watching some Monk again.

I still love the show.  It is also a great family show.  It is amazing all the Cameos they had through the years.  I was trying to see how they had so many.  I couldn't find anything, just an article about the show on Huffpost.  A really good article for fans of the show.

Tony deserved those Emmy's.  A show like no other, that still lasts.

EDIT:

I just tried finding a list of Cameos.  This is all I could find quick:

Korn to Willie Nelson..

Just watched the all or nothing season about the new Zealand all blacks.  If you're a rugby fan this is in your wheelhouse.  I'm not a rugby fan, but came away with a new respect for the game.  Those guys are some great athletes and tough as hell.

Was married to a Kiwi. Spent time in NZ. The All Blacks are everything you would hope you favorite sports team to be.

Has anyone watched "Forever" starring Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen? Co-created by Alan Yang, who co-created "Master of None" with Aziz.

It has that MoN feel in the way its shot, the dialogue, etc. Great, great show. Not what you'd expect from these SNL alums.

If you loved MoN you'll probably get this show. The story really gets going in E3.

Late to this thread as I really never gave Amazon Prime originals a chance.

Sneaky Pete was great.

Started Bosch over the weekend and halfway in the 1st season. Good so far. Nothing real great but I do see potential. I recognize Marlo from The Wire as Bosch's partner. And Lt Daniels from The Wire as well as the police chief.

How can you fail with such an amazing description of Hunting Express

Quote

Japan, a world of evil, where young girls are forced into prostitution and violent death is a fact of life. When Hank, trained in the art of survival by the elite American Commandos in Viet Nam, meets Janis, he never suspects her past. Until a shocking turn of events.

For those who haven’t seen it (living under a rock?) The Detectorists, series 1 & 2, popped up on Prime recently.

Also, Amazon struck a deal with one of the networks, probably CBS, because it seems like a ton of 60s sitcoms and dramas are popping up.

Or Drew?

Actually she does watch a lot of what I watch, and the few shows that I don't watch(Greys, Madam Secretary, ect…) she doesn't force me to watch.  Pretty good arrangement.

And I'm glad they added CBS All Access to Prime.  Now I don't have to pay to watch anyting on there.

You have to have a CBS All Access subscription.  Them adding it just means you can watch it through Prime Video if you’re a subscriber.

Hmm. I don't have CBS All Access, just Amazon Prime and have been able to watch those shows.  Not sure what's going on then.

Prime has a ton of CBS shows available without CBS AllAccess. Maybe not the most current seasons. I’m mini binging Survivor. The 1st 28 seasons are available.

Wife wanted to start watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and after two episodes in, I'm glad she insisted on that. It was between that or Jack Ryan, which we're going to do next.

It's really good.  As far as shows for husbands and wives to both enjoy, it's got to be near the top of the list.
