Had a break in the clouds for all of totality and will for the remainder.

Followed my plan from earlier in the thread.

I watched the DFW feed over here in California where I’m stuck for work and it was great. Thankfully, already had the experience of a total eclipse when I was younger. Glad the weather worked out for y’all.

The clouds completely blocked out totality at my office. It was still cool to experience it get dark at 1:30 in the afternoon, but I can’t say I’m not jealous of those of you who got the full experience

Even with the clouds, it was surreal how quickly it got dark entering totality.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to get that dark so fast.

I'm standing around outside talking shit about the clouds preventing me from experiencing the eclipse then darkness just rolls across the land.

Total cloud cover and they cancelled my kids activities due to rain. Absolute bust for us, glad others got to enjoy it at least.

Got to see a few intermittent peeks between & through clouds. I wasn't expecting so much light to be coming around the periphery of it. Almost like the moon's disc wasn't quite big enough to fully occlude the sun. (Watching from between Manor and Pflugerville.)

Got to see it through the clouds and I think it was even cooler that way.  Clouds made it look like an undulating fire ring.

that's called bailey's beads and is not created by clouds but rather sunlight bouncing through lunar craters and valleys

that was bad ass. didn't do much, put on a play list and laid on pool loungers and watched the show. bunch of folks on the water to enjoy it. I can see why people wanted to travel and party. it was legit all the way around, 10 out of 10.

Well that was fun! The gorgeous blues of a clear sky weren't visible but otherwise pretty cool. That last minute where it gets geometrically darker/faster is still something to behold.  Also cool to compare the two (2017) for me. BTW roosters did start crowing here and birds definitely stopped completely, we were looking for that and got it.

BTW, this was the one hope I/many others had - a recently-discovered confirmation of a long-believed phenomenon. This article is why the clouds parted enough when it seemed like all hope was lost. A quick and good read.

Got to see the crescent sun through my low-bidder glasses, but no weird shadows like we had in 2017. Overall effect here was overcast day about 5pm.

I did shovel a little compost onto thin parts of the yard, just in case Mayan Sun Magic is in effect.
