Did you guys know that:

  • He wasn't offered by Texas.
  • His father, Robert Brewer, played QB at Texas in the 1980's.
  • His grandfather, Charles Brewer, was a Texas quarterback in the 1950s.
  • His uncle, Rob Moerschell, followed his father Robert Brewer as Texas’ starting quarterback.
  • He wore a Vince Young jersey as a kid growing up in Austin.

Can't offer them all.  Someone should have told Rod.  But that wouldnt have fit the narrative.  People in Texas going to watch Texas regardless, so announcers take the contrarian view to generate a narrative.

Hey, did you know he wasn't offered at Texas while being a legacy? Rod Gilmore just reminded me again.

I thought we took Sam.  I could be wrong tho.

What the hell did we do to Rod? He was bitching the entire game that we should have taken Brewer. Of all the storylines they could have gone with they focus on that?

Dicker the Kicker broke him in Dallas

I don't know who Rod was but it was obvious they were rooting for Baylor hard the entire game. I honestly have never heard a worst broadcast ever in my life. That coupled with the constant TV commercials and breaks made for an unbearable game to watch.

Honest question: What was he like as a recruit? I remember him taking LT to some state title games but don't recall much else about him. Figured he was just another mediocre system QB that LT spits out.

Rod is a highly regarded C- ESPN analyst, who caught mouth AIDS licking Pac 10 taint. I’m just reporting facts.

Not with sound carry on.

The announcers stated what I posted in the original post every two minutes the entire game instead of providing commentary about the game. And when they did provide commentary they were extremely bad and inaccurate.

Did you know that the two jack wad mouth breathing fucksticks that called the game might actually be mentally retarded

Loved the "Baylor would love to slow this game and drag it out. Get the fans out of the game"

Yeah. Great gameplan you fucking clown.

Also this isn't fucking Yale. No one gives a shit where your granpappy played. The QB that won it for us today grew up surrounded by Sooners.

This is Texas. We win games. We don't hand out scholarships to feel better about ourselves.

"Highly regarded" as in full downy?

Double legacy is what I heard, and which I agree with Rod on this. How can you be a double legacy and not be given the starting nod at Texas. Worse, we didnt offer and he had to join the freaks and geeks at Baylor. It's really unheard of and I dont blame he and his family for abandoning Texas.

Really?

Fred Aker's son played at UT.  Maybe it was all on merit.

Kyle Shanahan played at UT.

Case McCoy was offered by . . . what other schools?

Robert Brewer wearing a Baylor shirt inside our stadium is unforgivable, IMO.

I have a lot of fraternity brothers who wear their kid's school clothes/colors.  Looking at their Facebook you'd never know they were UT grads.

I think the 2nd half might have been a tie between his love affair with  Brewer and mentioning how Baylor actually dominated the game except for the last 4 minutes of the 2nd qtr.

Texas royalty

This is the repeated comment that got to me.  Darrel Royal defines Texas royalty; Tommy Nobis is Texas royalty; Earl is Texas royalty; Vince is Texas royalty; Ricky is Texas royalty.  Colt is Texas royalty.  I never heard of grand pappy Brewer, and Robert Brewer was a solid QB for a couple years, and he did beat Alabama in the Cotton Bowl, but he was a walk-on.  Royalty?  Not so much.  And as stated elsewhere, the sight of Robert Brewer wearing a Baylor shirt in DKR seems wrong.

I don't think there's anything wrong with them showing support for their kid by wearing Baylor stuff at DKR. I'm sure the kid is heated that he was dissed by us even when we've been walking the desert at QB for years. And it's pretty obvious that Brewer is a better QB than Shane so we did mess up by not offering him. My frustrations lie with the announcers and not really the Brewer family.
