I like how people act like Lebron ruined the Lakers lmao. How many seasons below .500 and no playoffs have they endured? 5 or 6? Lebron had them in the top 4 of the West before his injury. But yes, it's all his fault. Let's overlook Magic trading away Russell and building a junk roster with no real future as constructed.

That's a completely different conversation that no one is talking about. Lebron criticizes teammates for lack of effort, while clearly lacking it himself. He gets highlighted for this by the media and then changes his tune. Never happened in Cleveland

Are these "people" just the voices inside your head?

Pretty stupid data set to use considering Kyrie has played more than just the last six games and the full season stats paint a different story entirely

what's the fun in that?

Reposting this. Can we stop redoing this argument every 3 pages.

lol, sorry bro, i was honestly just dropping that in there to stir the pot and revive the argument out of sheer boredom. i don't have a strong opinion on the issue either way because i don't follow them closely enough to have one. that said i have been on record for a long time as being one who doesn't understand the perpetual overrating of Kyrie/the people who swear he's a "great", or even top 10 player in the league. MEH. He's a very talented player, a super questionable teammate, and an enigma; and, i like watching you guys argue about him, lol. I wouldn't want any team i root for to employ him, that's for sure.

I agree that he is overrated. He doesn’t make my top ten players in the league but he is somewhere 11-15. Hes a consistent All-NBA caliber player. I’m like you in that if I was a GM I would try to build around someone else. I think he’s too ball dominant and I don’t think he’s learned to lead yet. However the idea that the Celtics are better without him is simply untrue and even a simple look at the numbers shows that.

Luckily for me I don’t have a team rooting interest so I get to enjoy the drama that he brings wherever he goes and never have to worry about it being my problem.

It's been mentioned the last few pages but can we collectively drop the Trae Young is overrated or will be a flop nonsense?  As mentioned earlier, some of the posts on the old page about this didn't age well.

He may be a notch below Luka but it's not like that trade was a bust.  The Hawks are trash and they needed players.  They got their PG for the next decade and a first round draft pick out of it.  For the month of January, Trae averaged 23/9 while shooting 43% from three.  Much like his time at OU, he's getting those assists on a garbage team.

Luka's mom is hot so there's that.

Lebron is about 10 games away from missing the playoffs.  If the Lakers are still 4 or 5 games from the 8th spot, Lebron may be given a phantom injury to go fishing early.  It's a debacle.  A loss to Phoenix?  That's gross in a must win scenario.  Their offseason may be more fun than this season was.... fo sho.

That's a shame.

And worse yet, the advanced stats show Lebron is clearly showing he is finally in decline.

Utah & DM has played quite well over the post few weeks, in most part due to Mitchell's play...

That and Utah's schedule transitioning from the toughest first half of the season to easiest in the 2nd half. The reverse Lakers' effect.

But Utah is very good. They're going to be a tough out for anyone who has to play them in the postseason.

it's almost as if spitting hot takes in november (around 15-20 games into the season) isn't super smart.

but gotlieb is a hack and has been for the past several years.  he's desperately trying to become the next skip bayless.

Would you say he’s stealing Skip’s schtick?

The Thunder agree (I think)...

And thus continues the Warriors' annual tradition of loading up on washed centers when they ideally don't even want one on the court for half the game in the playoffs.

Not really much else out there to fill a roster spot, though. My biggest problem with the Cousins' signing is that it depleted their entire MLE, which could have been used to entice mid-season buyouts...but Faried looks to be the only one who will have any real impact (sorry Pau). Pretty weak buyout market this year.

I think GSW will survive.

Yeah, it was probably as simple as wanting to have a familiar face and veteran presence riding the end of the bench as opposed to some interchangeable rookie or D-league guy. No on-court analysis needed.

I’d much rather have Boogie than any buyout candidate

injured.  he's missed the last 16 games.  they're 5-11 in those 16.

I'm case there's any doubt to his value. He may never impress anybody statistically, but he's a difference maker. Look no further than the dumpster fire that is UCLA in the years before and after he was there.

Watching this Lakers game is a joke. Luke Walton just looks depressed.

Well yeah, LeBron turned the team against him and is going to have him fired. If Walton wasn't so tight with Jeanie Buss he'd already be gone. LeBron threw in the towel and checked out, he knows the Lakers have 0 chance of making the playoffs. The Lakers went out and signed guys LeBron wanted like Rondo and Stephenson, but it'll all be on Luke Walton. That young core was extremely overrated as well. Kuzma/Ingram may become good players, but I don't see them becoming great players and Clownzo is borderline bust status.

The trade situation and injuries killed the Lakers but you wonder if they were really as good as their early 20-14 record indicated.  They were really good defensively early on, and that has completely disappeared now.  They probably should just play LeBron about 20 minutes a game and shut it down basically for next year.  I don't think we are going to see "best player in the NBA" LeBron ever again but there is no reason he couldn't emulate a great Magic Johnson type role with less scoring because he could easily play as an elite point guard on offense even as he declines due to his basketball IQ, court vision, and passing ability which are all less reliant on his physical gifts.

I don't think his ego would allow for that. Not that I think he is the only player with an ego.

you realize they are 5-12 in the past 17 games he's been injured right?
