"Everybody knows how I handle things like this, anytime we have a situation like this," Patterson said. "We're gathering information, but at this point in time, he probably won't play against Kansas (on Saturday)."

The Ticket reported this morning Fatterson ignored his arrest / warrant issued earlier for an incident in New Mexico. He has a long history of this from his QBs beating up women, selling drugs, and a few years back when much of his team was running a crime ring. Paging Outside the Lines.

And he kicks players off the team for these infractions. You seem intent on making GP a bad guy due to some bias. There is no equivalence to him and Briles, or even Stoops.

He kicks them off only when he absolutely has to. So it's really more of a similarity instead of an equivalence.

He knew his team had rampant drug problems when the dealing stuff happened several years ago. He chose to look the other way. Once people got caught and he had to do something, he acted like a hardass and kicked them off the team. He also then acted like he knew nothing and was an asshole to those players, basically disavowing them as human beings as opposed to at least hoping they got their shit together elsewhere. All the while, he knew he had bigger pieces of shit still on the team.

Patterson wants to have it both ways. He's a fraud of a person.

To be fair, pregnancy can cause some violent mood swings and irrational tantrums. It's the hormones.

"Probably won't play" lolz Gary, you crack me up.

They've submitted the details of the event to an internal committee to weigh in on whether the "she was asking for it" (Baylor) or "he was defending himself" (ou) defenses might be applicable here.

Final decision on his status will be made after their review.

Sounds like patience is wearing thin at Purple Baylor.

Maybe Patterson's patience at having to address this with the media is wearing thin, but I don't think his job is in any serious jeopardy.

Does TCU not stand for Texas Christian University?

I remember students there saying "Christian is only a middle name" and that was 20 years ago.

In name only, I think they disassociated from their church affiliation some years back.

Twice. First time it was a break away from the Church of Christ (to become first Christian) way back in the day, now it's pretty much name only.

Edit- but they still try to use that angle when it's to their advantage.

I don’t think that’s correct

Might not be. I thought that at one time the school was run by the church the founders belonged to and then later, more recently, separated. I could have that all backwards too.

No one here remembers when TCU was a religious institution.  They haven't had a seminary since WWI.

Not sure what the exact relationship is to the university.  But the Brite Divinity School is still housed on the TCU campus.

Fatterson's head was in the towel:

https://www.star-telegram.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/mac-engel/article220463635.html

TCU football coaches have known for over a month about an incident back in March involving star receiver KaVontae Turpin, but when the senior was asked about the alleged altercation he lied, sources said. Sources and friends of Turpin said he downplayed and minimized the incident involving his girlfriend. With his likeable personality and giant smile on his small frame, people bought it. No one ever looked into it further. All one had to do was type in his name for a background check and they would have seen that a bench warrant was issued in July by a Las Cruces, New Mexico court on Turpin over a battery charge from the incident, which he denied. These background checks are the same ones athletic departments run on potential recruits before offering a scholarship. The checks are free.

For fucks sake.  It's Kansas.  Way to go out on a limb, fat boy.  Zero chance this play-maker sits against OU or Texas.  Spare me your convenient indignation.

This is true, and they share some affiliation and resources due to this.  And it was a part of TCU back when Armybrat was knee high and dinosaurs roamed the earth.

But it has a separate BOR, accreditation, degrees, and faculty.

No shit.  Known for a month now.  Played against Texas.  The game against OU is especially damning as it was so recent.  So what exactly happened between Saturday and today?  Their season is trending down anyway, giving him some cover, but this doesn't pass the smell test.

Nickname not apt because frogs don't pretend to be religious

Doesn't really matter because they are more like Baylor than anyone else in the state. Purple Baylor is a perfect name IMO.

One of these days we're going to hold coaches accountable for believing lies and not doing any other investigation.

Didn't Meyer essentially excuse the first Zach Smith event by saying he talked to Zach about it and Zach denied it?

Eventually we put an end to this shit and apply some "knew our reasonably should have known" standard to these types of things, right?

That's not "believing lies," that's willful ignorance.

Baylor had two players arrested. Neither ever played a down as they were booted from the team upon arrest. In addition to this guy, TCU had Boykin, Pachall, the players arrested for dealing drugs ... I'm not sure its not significantly worse than Baylor objectively (dogpile notwithstanding). If this isn't a pattern of lack of institutional control and players behaving badly, not sure what is; and the university's reaction has not been stellar.
