WASHINGTON — They're the most elite, lethally trained members of the U.S. military, widely considered the best of the best. And yet in secret Facebook groups exclusively for special operations forces that were accessed by NBC News, they share misinformation about a "stolen" 2020 election, disparaging and racist comments about America's political leadership and even QAnon conspiracy theories.

Among the hundreds of Facebook posts NBC News reviewed from forums for current and former Rangers, Green Berets and other elite warriors: a member of a special forces group lamenting that several aides to former Vice President Mike Pence were part of a "Concerted effort by the thieves and pedophiles walking the hallowed halls of the peoples government" to undermine former President Donald Trump.

"In a just world, they would have already been taken out behind the court house and shot," another member commented.

This was fascinating. I had no idea, none, that this existed. I mean, my oldest (female) wasn't really into them (My Lil Pony)--she was a Polly Pocket fan, Barbies, etc but wow. Just wow.

Good article, short read. Think about it. Click on the embedded link to read.

Here is the diagram from the article:

It's wild. I had no idea. A  friend with whom I've since lost touch used to buy used ponies and touch them up with fancy paint, rebraid their hair or style it fancy, and then sell them for an unbelievable amount of money on ebay. I say unbelievable because I couldn't believe anyone would buy ponies. Except maybe for a child. But no, it was a BFD and she was making some serious money. Takes all kinds to make a world.

@Hugo Stiglitz posted this in one of the COVID threads. I was reading the article, but the tweet commentary was far more interesting. This guy appears to have been a nasty piece of work:

They corrected the GF name later it's Stock, not Cook.

It's a little difficult to reconcile that one has the right to think and believe certain ideologies w/o intrusion when those beliefs are endangering the lives of those one has been charged with serving and "protecting." Becomes once again an example of those who fall under the "protected" blanket.

This also caught my eye in HuffPo, and it's more than a little related to the above--the radicalization comes together and they begin to emerge:

Here is the link: but I spoilered the entire article if you'd rather read it here. It is very long but it gives some insight into what is going on and how embedded the extremists are and how they are doing it.

Wasn't that an eye opener? I mean you know that racism never went away, but this is some seriously insidiously embedded crap going on right under people's noses. the folks that are all, "well, we don't see klansmen going around in robes anymore" are not helping.

That Trujillo’s police badge was a symbol of his immunity is the breaking point. Meaning, we need to break that association. Badges ought be double edged swords, not shelters for the stormtroopers.

It all started with steve bannon's utilization of gamergate to redpill the incels to follow trump.

I know it sounds like libleft madlibs, but it's what actually happened and it's pretty well documented in journalism.

Republicans are trying to pass laws to make that perfectly legal. All you gotta do is claim you felt threatened, like a frightened cop shooting an unarmed black person.

So they literally met out back at the playground after school was over for the summer?

I'll give both sides credit, they lived up to the pledge they made on the last day of school to settle their shit once and for all with no teachers around.  More than I can say, then again...I was 10 and was away at baseball camp when I didn't show up in late June to fight Larry.

Wait, you didn't have one of your friends lure him over to another friend's house, and you were quietly waiting in the closet with one of those 1970s era silver flashlights with a bunch of D-Cells (think of it as a chrome precursor to today's Maglites), and you jumped out and got him upside the head, taking out a few of his permanent teeth in the process, and left him such a wreck that in high school he spiraled into alcohol and drugs, and wasn't able to recover until his 30s (at least you think that he recovered, based on what a cousin of his said, and what you can see on his Facebook page)??

SHOW LOW, Ariz. - Seven people have been critically injured after being run over by a truck in Show Low, officials confirmed Saturday morning.

Police say a black Ford truck had hit multiple bicyclists in front of the Horne Auto Collision Center during the city's Bike the Bluff road race.

Paramedics transported six people to a local hospital. Four of them are in critical condition, and the other two are critically injured but are in stable condition, police said.

One other bicyclist was airlifted to a hospital in the Phoenix metro area for treatment.

There were two to three other people injured in the collision and went to the hospital as walk-ins. They were in stable condition as well.

The driver fled the scene of the crash before being chased down by police.

Officers pursued the suspect to an area near 3rd Drive and Oliver, and the driver was eventually shot behind an ACE Hardware in the area. The suspect, identified only as a 35-year-old white male, was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Police did not disclose what exactly led up to the shooting.

Nice Haiku.

So it’s possible it was an accident. I hope it was. I’m glad there wasn’t a hate crime. It wasn’t out of the realm of possibilities that in a state where a Governor passed the Anti-Riot bill granting immunity to people that drive into protesters to think maybe this person did it on purpose.

The outrage is that it will happen, because the elected people keep encouraging it by signing anti-LGBTQ legislation, empowering hate.

but yes, I’m the problem, the message board poster. You think I want to be outraged, to politicize something. If only people like me would stop dividing this world

Me too.  We had an “accident” like this where I grew up. A few of friends parents perished, and several others injured.  I put accident in quotations because while it wasn’t hate induced, it was OxyContin induced.

A Florida man was arrested and charged with multiple felonies last Thursday after intentionally performing a "burnout" with his car over a Pride-themed mural painted on an intersection in Delray Beach, opening him up to become the first person charged under the state's controversial new "anti-riot" bill pushed by Republicans.

Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, signed the bill meant to crack down on protests in the wake of the George Floyd uprisings earlier this year, just as the trial against former Minneapolis police officer Derick Chauvin was wrapping up. The legislation was heavily opposed by first amendment activists and Black lawmakers in the state. Now a young Trump supporter may be the first person entangled by the new law.

Alexander Jerich, 20, is accused of deliberately making skid marks across a mural meant to commemorate the 2016 Pulse Nightclub shooting, in his Chevrolet Silverado. According to WPBF, Delray Beach Police have since charged Jerich with criminal mischief, reckless driving, and evidence of prejudice. Just prior to the incident, Jerich was allegedly participating in a pro-Trump rally in celebration of the former president's birthday that was put together by the Palm Beach County Republican Executive Committee.

A witness told the police that heard someone holler "tear up that gay intersection" before Jerich shortly defaced the mural with his car. The incident was also caught on video, which allowed the police to identify Jerich, who turned himself in, through a license plate search.

Rand Hoch, founder and president of the Palm Beach Human Rights Council, told WFOR that Jerich carried out "a deliberate act of violence against the LGBTQ community. We've made such progress here in the last 30 years on LGBTQ issues. To see someone do something like this took me by surprise."

"Kudos to the Delray Beach Police Department for swiftly identifying and arresting this hateful criminal," Hoch added.

The city had just unveiled the mural two days before the incident, according to law enforcement, and paid north of $16,000 for its creation.

Jerich could now be subject to heightened penalties imposed by Florida's new GOP-backed "anti-riot" law signed back in April. As WPEC's Sam Kerrigan noted: "When it comes to this case, the key here is that this new anti-riot law also stops someone from damaging historic property or a memorial. And under the law, this new Pride mural in Delray Beach, here, qualifies as a memorial because it's dedicated to the lives lost in the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando."

Hoch, too, suggested that Jerich could be charged under the new GOP measure.
