If this thread is indicative of the Congress and the country, so much for a hope of returning to bipartisan cooperation. R’s don’t have a lot to gloat about and shouldn’t be. D’s should stop calling all people who voted R racists and rapists....the economy is the biggest issue for many, more so than wanting more illegals in the country or wanting nothing short of socialized healthcare.

When the president starts leading by example and quits using violent rhetoric and calling the press the enemy of the people and encouraging his supporters to see the opposition as traitors then we can talk.

Republicans might not all be racist but racists sure think they are.

And when Trump runs outright racist ads full of lies, what are people supposed to call him?

I’m done giving his supporters the benefit of the doubt. If you still support the party of Trump you support racism and racist policies. Whether each individual supporter drops the N bomb is immaterial to me.

Supporting racists and misogynists and bigots makes you the same. You are the company you keep.

No. We won tonight in a big way. You can't spin your way out of that.

Democrats gain a small majority in the house which will result in nothing getting done other than starting 147,243 investigations into Trump.  Republicans increase control in the Senate which can still make federal appointments and will vote not to convict Trump on anything that comes out of the 147,243 investigations into Trump that the House starts.  Mexican standoff until 2020.  Both sides can claim victory in public while behind the scenes they scratch their heads trying to figure out why their gains weren't more substantial.

So no matter what Trump is, you support him. I shouldn't be surprised. You're doubling down.  It's what people do.

It's not a small majority.

And even if it were, it's still a majority, and that's all that matters.

Republicans lost tonight.

So repeating the same speeches on immigration that Harry Reid and Barrack Obama gave in 2006 is now racism?

143,243 investigations?  Your thinking of Hilary's emails.  I guess the Senate will just have to continue.  Pizzagate!

Republicans keep saying Democrats lost tonight, but they already had control of the Senate.

Republicans lost the House, hence Democrats won the House.

2016 proved popular vote doesn’t matter. Electoral college count is what matters in Presidential race.

Florida still looking very red. TX looking very red.

Dems have to find a path that leads them to EC victory in 2020 vs Trump. It’s not clear that tonight has revealed that strategy.

Man, Schiff is up to the task.  Beaming confidence.  Speaking about restoring relations with the IC, restoring institutions.  Commented that the obfuscation and obstruction by "complicit" GOP led committees has been a lot worse than we know.  Also considers election integrity a big issue and that it's "negligent" that at this day in age we don't have a paper trail to verify outcomes in large swaths of our elections.

No shit. If popular vote decided elections, Republicans might never win the oval office again.

As stated earlier, it looks like Ed Emmett loses as Harris county judge.  About 10% of the precincts left, maybe 30K votes, and he's down 6K.   He can blame Trump and Cruz for bringing out so many voters to vote against them.

Fire fighters get their 25% raise as well.

If we're calling Ohio & Florida red states then the electoral map is that much more difficult for the Dems.  But hey, we still got the popular vote right?

Florida just flipped itself to blue with the referendum they correctly passed tonight.

They can start by not ignoring the Midwest where they lost by a collective 70000 votes. You have to at least go up there and remind them. Oh and nominating someone at least remotely likable helps .

Oh really? How did Democrats in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan do? Think Trump still has those 3 states which won the election for him?

Michigan and Pennsylvania went Democrat tonight. Wisconsin may go in both major races. Iowa(!) is basically a purple state tonight. That is an EC win right there with no other changes.
